"Wanna Go to a Haunted House?" "Sure..."

Xavi was waiting on the steps, his head leaning against the pole. He was doing something for the Serpents again. He knew it was wrong to involve Donnie in Serpent business, but what Donnie didn't know wasn't going to hurt him. Plus it'd be nice to have someone to kiss converse with.

He has to admit, the owl had been a fun yet confusing find when he'd walked into his bedroom and found the bird perched on his window, but Donnie would be lying if he said he didn't leap at the opportunity to go to a haunted house. He does love exploring, after all. Seeing Xavi's name signed at the bottom also made his heart leap - with anticipation or fear or delight, he couldn't quite tell. It's quite late, the sun sinking behind the clouds and creating long shadows of the trees, and Donnie knows he's at the right place when the house and the boy come into view.

"Took you long enough," Xavi said as Donnie approached him. He stood up, wearing a lazy, mischievous grin, one usually not found on his face. His stomach jumped at seeing the other boy's face clearly, and he ignored it. Tried to, at least. He nodded towards the door. "Let's go."

Xavi's enthusiasm just makes Donnie's stomach do even more front-flips: he's breakable, okay, so walking into a haunted house will almost definitely end with him either having a heart attack or falling through some rotten floorboards and literally breaking every bone in his lower body. Still, he lets out a huff of amusement and shakes his head as he approaches Xavier, hands burrowed into his pockets and knuckles white. "I genuinely believe you are trying to kill me," he smirks. "First an abandoned mill, now an abandoned house... I've seen the Blair Witch Project, I know where this ends. Me in the corner, having my innards ripped out by some demon."

He laughed, taking a step on the porch. Naturally, it had to creak, because what abandoned house doesn't have a creaky porch? "You agreed so technically you're helping kill yourself of your own will," he pointed out.

The porch is rotting and musty and Donnie treads carefully as he crosses it. "Very true," he nods in agreement, squinting so he can see Xavi through the dusk, as it isn't dark enough yet for a Lumos to have any real effect. "Is this how you spend your weekends, then? Hanging around abandoned buildings, waiting for death to take you?"
XTBackground

"I wish," he said, ducking under the cobwebs in the doorway, ignoring the creepy vibe the house gave off. "Instead I spend my weekends hanging around abandoned buildings, waiting for death to take me for a gang. Sigh, what has life come to?"

Now Xavi has mentioned this elusive gang he's part of it, Donnie thinks it's acceptable to ask questions about. I mean, they've met twice in dark forests - they're basically besties at this point. "Did whatever was in that chest solve all your problems?" he tries, trying not to wince as the floorboards protest beneath his feet.

"If it did, we wouldn't be here, love, now would we?" Xavi pointed out, pulling his wand out of his back pocket. "I bet you there's some charms or traps around here, so if you run into anything, scream."

Dodging a gnarly piece of protrouding rotten wood that's teeming with infection, Donnie grimaces at the warning. "Lovely." A pause, as the first response registers in this head. "How much bother are you actually in? And don't say oh I'll have to kill you if I tell you because this isn't a James Bond movie. As much as you're treating it like one."

"Oh I wasn't kidding," he said, testing a loose floorboard and eventually decided to step over it. "I really will have to kill you if I tell you. I mean, unless you join the Serpents, but I feel like you're not the manipulative murder type." He refrained from touching any of the door frames he passed through, knowing fully well how old this house was.

Maybe it's because he has the emotional maturity of a teaspoon, but Donnie still can't take the whole gang thing seriously, so he shakes his head silently in amusement as he traverses a wobbly floorboard. This is the first time that Xavi's ever mentioned this Serpents thing, though, so Donnie makes a mental note to check out that name later to see if they're really legit. "You have no idea what I'm like," he teases. "I could be a deranged serial killer behind this baby face, for all you know."

"I highly doubt it," he snorted, spotting the stairs and navigating around all the rot and mold to get to them. "I doubt you could even kill a fly."

Donnie kind of pauses, unable to tell if Xavi's joking or not; it would explain why he's leading me into a haunted house.... Every survival instinct in Donnie's brain tells him to turn around and run the other way, but there's something magnetic about the house and the shadows and the whole secrecy of it all. He's going to find out about this gang if it kills him. "Oookay, Mr Serious," he drawls. "You do you. I'm gonna explore up here." Turning slowly, he begins to ascend a rickety staircase, choosing his footsteps carefully.

"We're going the exact same way, love," he pointed out, glancing over his shoulder. "Just in case you couldn't notice in the dark." He tested the floorboard at the top of the stairs and quickly recoiled his foot when it fell through. He relaxed and stepped over, glancing at what room to check first.

The crunch of the floorboards makes Donnie grimace, and he rolls his eyes as Xavi pulls himself away from certain death (or at least a broken arm). "Between this gang and this house, you're definitely gonna die young," he drawls, poking around an empty room.

That little comment would have made him flush red a few months ago, but now he's used to Xavi - well, he knows what to expect - the confident side of him comes out, the Donnie that his friends are familiar with. With a smirk, he turns around in the doorframe, an eyebrow quirked with challenge. "Does your little gang know about me seeing that chest? Or, like, even knowing about their existence? I'd hate to be the reason your kneecaps go missing."

"Donnie, Donnie, Donnie. You oblivious, adorable idiot," he chuckled. "I don't know if that was supposed to scare me or make me laugh, but if it was the latter, you succeeded. Oh and, the plank behind you looks like it's about to send you to the underworld. I'd watch where I'm stepping." He headed down the hallway, of course, watching the planks because this was the most untrustworthy old ass building he's ever been in and disappeared into a room at the end of the hall.

"I mean, it was a genuine question, but..." His voice trails off as Xavi disappears into the shadows, the creak of the floorboards the only indication of any human presence. Donnie shrugs and goes to continue - but then the floor gives out. It's like a rush, and Donnie feels his stomach fly up to his mouth as the world rushes past him; the fall is so fast that he barely has time to register it, before he lands with an ugly-sounding thud on his side. Everything goes dark.

Entering the room, he was concerned about leaving Donnie by himself, but then again, Xavi did say scream if walked into any traps. He wasn't even a yard into the room when he heard the sound of rotting floorboards cracking and a painful thud seconds later. He didn't even need a second to register it before he was rushing out the room and down the hallway. "I said watch the plank... this idiot, damn it," he muttered under his breath. "Well, visiting St. Mungo's was on my to-do list anyway."

She's sitting on the porch, legs dangling over the edge. She's going through the pictures in her phone, since there's not enough signal to support Witchagram, deleting and editing the ones that ought to be deleted and/or fixed. Elaine was supposed to be here a while ago, and Tessa's close to up and leaving if she doesn't show soon. She's wearing sports attire, and her black mask is hanging around her neck.

Elaine pushed open the door to the abandoned house with an exhale of annoyance. The entire place looked like a breeding ground for germs and a perfect place to get riddled with allergies. She grimaced when her advebturing fingers came back with smudges of dust and dirt. "Tessa," she called out, lacking her usual pep.

"I'm over here," Tessa says, still outside by the edge of the porch. She quirks a confused eyebrow when she sees Elaine and the expression on her face. She doesn't say anything, though, because if something's bothering Elaine, she'll say it without a doubt. And if she doesn't, Tessa's not gonna bother asking - it's none of her business.

Isabel quietly led Mark through the forest, weaving quickly through the thick foliage like she had so many times before. This time she had Mark's hand snagged in her own as she dragged him along. The girl hadn't checked to see if he was nervous or if the surrounding area was freaking out. She wanted him to see the abandoned house she had stumbled across. "Look," she breathed softly, her awe evident in her tone. "It's so creepy and cool..."

Mark didn't know why Isabel was taking him out here, nor why he was going with it, since it definitely didn't seem like a smart idea and he was internally freaking out quite a bit as he bit at his lip, "Hm?" he asked, as he was snapped out of his trance when they finally stopped walking and he looked up at the house, biting harder down on his lip as he gave a small nod.

Isabel offered him reassurance in the form of a gentle squeeze of his hand, her bright green eyes flickering over to observe him. "We can head back if you like?" she inquired softly. He was scared and she could smell it from his flesh. She was a little scared too, truthfully. But she had trekked this path so many times now and hadn't run across anything dangerous that she deemed it appropriate to finally show him.

Mark shrugged, "I'm okay...I guess," he said, giving her a small smile as he looked down at her, but there was a bit of nervousness to it, before he looked back at the house, "I just haven't been in the forest much, and I definitely haven't been this far in..." he said, and he cracked a small, real smile there at that, finding it ridiculous how he hadn't yet, "So, are we going inside or not?"

"Just stay close to me and don't let go of my hand," she instructed softly and begun to lead him inside, her eyes skimming the darkness. He wouldn't be able to see like she could with her heightened feline senses. The girl finally moved toward what appeared to be a kitchen and raised her hand, grabbing onto some old fabric before tearing it away from the surprisingly large window, sun finally leaking in and lighting up their surroundings. "There. Much better." She finally released his hand.

Mark followed, not commenting the entire way, as he tried to keep closer to her since she seemed to know what she was doing and he definitely didn't. He'd sigh with relief at the rush of light, resting up against a nearby wall and crossing his arms over his chest, trying to relax despite his pretty filthy surroundings that made him more worried that a rat would come rushing over and bite through his shoe than not being able to get back to the castle (quite frankly, he wouldn't mind if the two of them got stuck out here forever, just as long as they cleaned this place up).

"And two, it probably wasn't supposed to be here and they kicked the people out, or so I'd imagine..."
