Unbeknownst to her, she's actually half-veela, and thus has the power to attract the opposite gender. Niks has dark hair and big doe eyes, the perfect picture of an ingenue. She isn't extravagant with her attire, always opting to wear things that aren't too eye-catching. HISTORY TRAITS ------------------------------ Niks' parents, muggles, had trouble conceiving and thus decided that it would be better to adopt. They're kind people who had the desire to be parents more than anything, and felt that it was only right for them to give a child without a home a loving family. Enter Annika. Adopted when she was just a year old, her parents were never happier than when they had a baby in the house. However, the older she got, stranger and stranger things started happening. It all began when she was six, giving the mean babysitter she was left at home with terrible boils that spread throughout her face and down her neck. The signs only continued, from making it storm indoors to randomly setting things on fire... This was definitely not what her parents signed up for. Not knowing how to deal with her powers, but under the impression that if someone were to find out then she would be taken away and bad things would happen to the child, they kept her at home as much as they could. Niks was homeschooled growing up, until the age of eleven when she finally received a Hogwarts letter and a representative from the Ministry explaining her abilities – she was magical. Sorted into Hufflepuff for her kindness and loyalty, Niks spent the first few years of Hogwarts quiet and unsure of how to interact with other people, not having any real friends for as long as she could remember. Occasionally, she'd reach out to some of her yearmates, but otherwise she'd keep a very small circle of friends. She'd practice her social skills on the paintings, ghosts, and house-elves – the last of which eventually allowing her to use the Hogwarts Kitchen as much as she wanted to for her to bake as much as she'd like. ----------------------------- +: loyal, kind, sweet –: insecure, self-sacrificing, gullible Niks is one of the kindest people anyone is likely to encounter, incredibly softspoken (save for the occasional ramble) and sweet. She always gives people the benefit of the doubt, and refuses to define someone by their worst qualities. She's always smiling because she doesn't want anyone to think she doesn't like them, but often overthinks and panics about people not liking her. She makes sure to never overstep any boundaries, careful to never make anyone feel uncomfortable. The amount of thought she puts into making sure everyone feels okay is exhausting, and it always ends with her putting others' needs before her own. Aside from that, Niks is incredibly insecure and always assumes the worst whenever it comes to how other people perceive her. She hates most things about herself, like how awkward she is, how she's pretty much just an average student academics-wise, or how she's not even that pretty. She always hesitates before asking other people if they want to spend time together because she's afraid she's boring or a bother to be around, and that normally hinders her from making new friends. Niks is extremely gullible and takes most people's words at face value. She despises keeping secrets and lies, and assumes the same about everyone else which is why she's easily taken advantage of. RELATIONSHIPS TRIVIA ----------------------------- HER PARENTS Niks loves her parents. She knows they're good people, but she's pretty sure that it's because they're good people that they decided to keep her. She's grateful to them for taking in a child that was too much to handle, and is excited to one day be self-sufficient so that she can stop being such a pain at home. AVERY CATLEY Avery is probably Niks' closest friend, one of the few that she made while growing up at Hogwarts. While Niks may typically be the one in need of saving, Niks is fiercely protective of Avery and would do anything to make sure the other girl is happy and safe. She knows that they'll always have each other's backs. If Niks needed anything, she'd go to Avery first – she is always the person that Niks would run to in times of need. MORGAN LE FEY Niks has been smitten with Morgan since the moment she bumped into him during the holidays, and the feeling has not died since. If anything, she's only grown more and more smitten to the point of actually confessing her feelings before the end of sixth year. He's the only instance she decided to go against Avery's judgment and trust her heart – she just knows that Morgan is a good person who has her best interests at heart and that he'd never hurt her. She thinks he's fantastic and that his hand is perfect for holding. TRISTAN LE FEY Niks hasn't interacted with Tristan much, but she can tell that he has a good heart. She's always so tempted to approach him and ask if he can introduce her to all his snakes because she finds them adorable, and she tags him in snake posts on Witchagram even if they don't have a private message thread going on because she hopes they make him smile. ISEULT LE FEY Iseult is scary, but gorgeous. Niks isn't entirely sure if she wants to be her friend or if she just simply wants to be her, but she looks up to her yearmate and is very, very grateful that there's someone to keep Tristan and Morgan in check. She feels like the two wouldn't last a day without Iseult, and she's correct. KIT SINNAKUAN Kit is a kindred spirit that Niks met in detention. They're both friends with Avery and they're both not particularly good at talking to people, and she thinks that he's wonderful. Conversations with him always make her happy, and she's been learning how to make frozen yogurt so that she has something for him to try. LUKA BELFREY Niks knows Luka as Avery's Luka, and has tried initiating a friendship but she can't shake the feeling that Luka doesn't like her. She'll keep trying because she's sure that one of these days she and Avery are going to end up dating, and she'd very much like to be on good terms with her best friend's girlfriend. WESLEY STANTON Wes always makes Niks laugh. He's sweet, funny, and charming. She met him after he lost his wand and shoes at the Chamber of Secrets party, and they've been friends ever since.
