Not his favorite way, but he didn't like Portkeys much, either. And using the Floo Network didn't require going through the Ministry... He dusted himself off before stepping out of the fireplace, looking around for his aunt or uncle.

"I'm not apologetic just a bit regretful that I'm in an office more often now than out in the field. It's something everyone in our field has to deal with at some point...more stability and money from being in the office or more freedom and actually dealing with interesting creatures in the field."

"I don't agree with any activity that takes a magical creature and puts it into a situation where it will suffer harm at a Wizard's hand...much less in a coliseum setting with spectators ESPECIALLY ones as young as first years. Its barbaric and teaches children at a young age that magical creatures are dangerous and to be feared and hunted." Her eyes would narrow. "I protested at the Ministry from the time I heard about the thing and they threatened to fire me more than once. Of course I also threatened to quit over it more than once too" She'd shake her head. "It's absolutely horrid."

"Sure...there's always people willing to take money and a government permit to hunt and capture a magical beast." She'd sigh. "Some of it is definitely done above board. As an example when the Sanctuary in Romania provides dragons for this sort of thing they're well treated and they intentionally pick the ones they know would like getting out or having a good tussle. Of course that takes really knowing and understanding the creatures you're working with AND dragons are easier since it's really hard to permanently injure them.  A lot of other creatures just aren't as tough and it's likely they'll come out of something like this with some sort of injury, some bad enough they can't be healed. That means they're either put back in the wild like that which may cause the creature difficulty hunting or mating in the wild, sold as exotic pets which is a crapshoot, or put out of their misery since they're too dangerous to be a pet and can't be put back in the wild in their condition."

He looked over at her. "For what it's worth... I never tried to directly attack or... injure any of the creatures I came across. I was pretty defensive the whole time."

"I don't hold it against you...it's not like those chosen as Champions are generally entering just to hurt other creatures or people. It's just a bad historical practice that's still seen as positive. I think the idea of testing young witches and wizards is great...I just think using real beasts they can injure or kill is barbaric and not the right way to do it."
