She gave Rose a small smile, gently prying her hand away from her ear and swinging it back and forth. "I don't understand..." As she started to speak, she realized that she could understand Ashley's feelings... but not the act.
He would look at Teresa seriously. "Depression and loneliness are powerful emotions. They make us not see clearly, and do things we normally wouldn't." He would look right at Teresa. "...which is why I worry so much for you. Normally I wouldn't worry...but with all those negitive emotions you're constantly holding back...I don't want you to do anything crazy."
She gently pried Rose's hand away again, a couple more tears falling. "I wouldn't do anything crazy, Ferlen. Whatever my emotions, I have you and Rose- I have Mary- I have friends. Why would I do anything that might take all that away?"
She gave their daughter a little smile. "I know, little Rose, I know." She bent down to reach for one of her shiny stuffed animals, holding it out to her. She made a mental note to not wear her hoop earrings around her until she got a bit older. She looked at Ferlen. "I'm not actively trying to repress them."
That wasn't much help. Although she automatically held back her emotions, she had the control needed to let them out if she wanted. She could stop crying at any time, and although the sadness was terribly huge right now, she knew she wouldn't do anything drastic to deal with it.
