Sebastian walks towards the apartment complex in simple blue denim jeans, with padded knees, and a green and blue long sleeved cotton shirt. His hair is combed and tidy, and he makes sure to check himself over one more time for any leaf litter or dust. Satisfied he is clean and tidy, he enters the complex and checks the card Dahlia had given him. As he walks to her door his mind is a little distracted with how busy his last two days had been since he last saw Dahlia. Remembering his last experiment he sniffs himself to make sure the smell of smoke and burnt hair had dissipated, not wanting Dahlia to worry or scold him for getting himself injured again.
Standing in front of her door, he smiles before rapping his knuckles against the wood to alert her to his presence.
She wasn't really expecting company and got up to go see who it was, in her pajamas since she didn't have work today and no reason to change into anything nice. She opened the door to see Sebastian and blushed a little, "Oh! Sebby! I didn't expect you," She said, feeling highly embarrassed about her mess of an appearance and household. "I would have cleaned and put something decent on if I knew you were coming,"
He lightly chuckles at her flustered state. "Well next time i'll send an owl to give you a heads up." Sebastian peaked his head past the door frame and saw a few unwashed dishes in the sink, and some leftover food from the previous meal to be put away. But other than that he didn't initially see much of a mess.
"Well if this is what you call a mess, my place would be a pig sty in comparison." He jokes to her and gives her a quick hug. "So, do you have any angel cake leftover? You know Dahlia, we have different opinions on what is edible and what is not." He reminds her, recalling how a PB & J sandwich he found under his bed in Hogwarts, still looked good after a week, but Dahlia had gone a little green after he'd told her he'd eaten it.
"Please, you don't have to remind me," She said in disgust as she invited him into her apartment and closed the door. "I know all the nasty things you ate, and I still don't know how your stomach hasn't shriveled up yet from all the moldy rotten food you've consumed." She said as she started to clean up a bit, wanting to be somewhat presentable. "What was it? A bowl of maggots you ate that you thought were noodles in 6th year?"
Not wanting to stand around and watch, he goes to the sink to begin washing dishes. Only then realising there were a lot more dishes than he had initially seen. “Well I see what you mean, but i’ll help you to clean up.”
Rolling up his sleeves, he fills the sink with water, adds soap, and begins scrubbing. Remembering that particular story brings out a hearty laugh. “It was a simple case of poor observations. I hadn’t thought maggots would grow that big!” He exclaims with humour
Scratching at a stiff piece of food on a plate, he chooses to tease Dahlia. “You know, if you start to forget to clean up after yourself, maggots might make a home in your sink.” He says with his back to her, grinning ear to ear and trying to hold back his laughter. “I mean, what will your partner think, if she comes home to find the flat needs fumigation.”
"It was disgusting and I threw up all day thinking about it Sebby, you should always ask me before you eat something so I can make sure it's not rotten," She said, before sticking her tongue out and going yuck. "Ew! I clean my apartment enough so that won't happen! I'm never going to have it be so dirty that maggots live in my sink-"
Sebastian cut off Dahlia, after finding a long noodle in the sink then thinking of a wicked idea. He looks to her and shouts. "Catch!" And tosses the noodle at her, wriggling through the air as though it were alive. "Its a worm!" He exclaims in a high pitch voice before collapsing to the ground in a fit of laughter.
She screeches as it hits her in the head and stays in her hair, making he jump around and trying to get it out before it fell on the counter and she saw it was a noodle. "Sebastian! You're such a jerk!" She exclaims and looks at him, "You gave me a heart attack,"
Sebastian is still on the ground howling in laughter, with tears in his eyes. Its been over a year since he's laughed so hard and it feels great, almost painful at how hard hes laughing.
Finally getting a hold of his laughter he picks himself up and leans on the counter-top, squeaking out in a high pitch. "You should have seen you face!" He points at her frowning face, giggling like a child. "I thought you were about to use a stinging hex on your face to get it off. And the way you were jumping! I'd have thought the ground was covered in mice!"
She puffed her cheeks out angrily at that, grabbing her wand from her pocket and aiming it at Sebastian. "Colloshoo," She said, a small smirk on her face as she stuck Sebastian's shoes to the ground. "There, now try to tease me when you can't move,"
Sebastian stops giggling after he sees he cannot move his feet. He tried to lift one feet, then the other. And after a few moments of struggling he stops and grins at Dahlia. “Oh, you’ve done it now Dahlia. Let’s see if your spell casting has improved since Hogwarts.” He pulls out his wand and retorts “Anteoculatia!” Aiming the Antler Hex at her Dahlia’s hair.
"Protego!" She shouts to block the spell, not in the mood to have her hair turn into antlers, and also she's been practicing her reaction times since she's been waiting to get a job at the ministry and is getting ready for the moment Alistair is fired. "Nice try Sebby, but you'll have to do better then that~"
She was too caught up in deflecting his spell that she missed this one, shrieking as she was lifted up into the air and floated around weightless. "Sebastian Raphael Fletcher!" She yelped, "Put me down this instant!"
Sebastian blushed at his full name being used, as Dahlia only used his middle name sparingly as he was embarrassed about the name. “You know I don’t like you calling me that!” He exclaims, loosing concentration and dropping her. Cursing mentally at himself he thinks ‘I really have to control my emotions better.’
She yelped as she fell on the ground, groaning a little in pain and rolling over onto her back. "I know. T-That's why I use it," She said and slowly sat up and held her head, "You could have put me down softly!" She yipped at him.
Sebastian nodded to her words and began massaging her back, trying to help relax the recently healed areas. “Yeah well you know while I don’t always look out for my own safety, the safety and health of others is a priority.” He smiles. “Besides, I took a short course on massaging while in Turkey. And what a better excuse than this to try out my newest skill.”
Dahlia felt the knots in her back being worked out, hissing a little at the pain but it felt so reliving at the same time. "Just don't hurt me okay? I've already been hurt once," She said, a little hesitant. "And in Turkey? Of all places?"
He smiles at her concerns. “It’s alright, i’ll start off soft before I add more pressure.” He laughs at her comment. “Yeah, I know. I was in Constantinople for a week to see some of the ancient buildings, also following a rumour of some of a magical artifact found under the blue mosque. And while I was staying at a hostel I saw there was a course on massage that I could take for a few days. Seeing as I knew little about massage I thought it would be nice to know, before I knew it I was digging my hands into a...very large, oiled man’s back with a dozen other men doing the same. The teacher was actually Indian and she was quite attractive, which explains why most of the guy was there.”
Sebastian shrugs. “I enjoyed learning how the human body worked and the benefits of massage. And the teacher said I learnt very well, even asked me to give her a private massage after the course was over. But I had to explain I had to keep on the move.” He shrugs again. “She looked disappointed, I guess my massage skills were pretty good in her view, oh and the other guys sort of stared at me in shock at turning down her request. Meh, maybe one of the others got to do so.”
She couldn't but laugh at that, "Sebastian! You're the only guy dumb enough to not realize when a grl is flirting with you," She said and couldn't stop giggling. "She wanted to sleep with you, Sebastian, her private lesson would have turned into you probably losing your virginity if you went through with it."
He laughs at her statement. “Yeah right, very funny. No way, just because she wanted a private massage from me doesn’t mean she was going to sleep with me.” He rolls his eyes, chuckling at the absurdity of her claim. “Look there were not even hints of her wanting to do that, all she did was ask for me to show up...in a towel...and that it would be a f-full body massage...with the candles lit...plus plenty of oil.” Sebastian’s eyes grow wider and wider as he continues talking, finally ending with them almost comedically popping out of he sockets and his mouth hanging open in disbelief. He ceases his massaging as his arms hang at his side, too stunned by the revilation.
Turning his eyes back to Dahlia, he is finally able to speak. “R-really?” He says in a hollow voice.
Sebastian moves her hand away and nods. “Yes, but that was a dating course right? I mean you taught me how sex works, what to do and not to do and where we...You know...men and women connect.” He blushes at the memory.
Nodding in agreement, and not wanting to dredge up embarrassing memories, he forensics back to the sink to continue washing dishes. “I suppose not much has really changed since Hogwars.” He jokes to her. “Still the same nerdy guy that can quote the most complex potion formulae, but never notice it when a girl is attracted to him.” He shakes his head and laughs at himself.
Sebastian rolls his eyes and nods to her question. “Yeah he moved in a bit over a week ago. And he hasn’t to be one of the most spoil guys i’ve ever met to be honest. He thought my hut was a garden shed!” He exclaims, then calms down. “Although to be fair, there were gardening tools lying on the floor boards and I’d yet to paint the interior. So...it’s understandable he though of the places as uninhabited.”
Signing he continues. “He can be a real jerk at times but I can see he is trying his best to adjust from living in castles and mansions, to living in, what is to him a large shack.” He pauses for a moment before choosing to continue. “He’s actually invited me to go out for the night. Apparently to try and get me to ‘’loosen up, have a wild time, and stop being a hermit in the forest’’ as he put it so eloquently.”
He shakes his head. “I know how to loosen up. I do easily around you at least.” He shrugs and frowns. “Besides if he thinks he’s going to get me drinking or dancing he’s got another’s thing coming. Cause, I don’t dance, I know I can, but there’s not a chance no no, slide more, move more, swinging on the dance floor, I don’t dance...damnit!” He sings out loud to himself, before realising he is singing the song from the High School Musical movie he’d seen the previous week.
He chuckles at her statement. “I only watched those movies after Eugene forced me alright? I think he’s got a crush on one of the characters or something.” Shaking his head he returns to the washing.
After thinking everything over in his mind for a while he hesitantly asks Dahlia. “Hey Dahlia? W-whats it like to be in love? I mean, so many books have been written about it, and so many movies based around that emotion. Heck love is said to be the strongest form of magic in known existence. But...what’s it like?”
"Oh... Well... Let me think," She said, taking a moment to pause. "Well it's a little difficult to explain Sebby... But, love to me is just... Happiness... I feel so free and myself when I'm with Kit, my heart feels like it's complete with her in my life... I would do anything for Kit, and I have done a few things for her because of my love for her... It's almost like, love is that thing that people know they're missing and when they find it it makes them whole which makes them a stronger version of themselves... Love is just, it's completeness."
Sebastian nods and begins to realise the opportunity he had in front of himself. He could learn from this witch, and train him in skills he’d been lacking for so long. So much time spent in his studies and learning theory had caused him to lack the practical skills he will need to survive. Now if he were to become a professional Cursebreaker, and be able to fight creatures and curses, he needed training to do so successfully and survive.
After ruminating over what to say for a moment or two he asked her. “Is there any way I could learn from you? I mean you are obviously a professional at this and know a lot more about surviving beasts than I, and probably the practical handling of cursed objects. Besides that, having an apprentice or assistant may give you extra options if you ever face another Chimera, and two wands are better than one as they say.” He chuckles to himself.
Sebastian intently listened to Dahlia’s words, with his hand still in the dishwater, soap and suds. He felt a pang in I’d heard as Dahlia described the happiness she felt while being in love. Staring at the window in front of him, his mind went elsewhere, thinking back to the memories of his parents. Not the sad, depressing memories of their cold bodies and an empty house, that had plagued him for much of his life after their deaths. Rather he was brought back to his childhood and remembered how they were alive and so in love. He remembered watching his mother sitting on his fathers lap as they all enjoyed a family movie together. He remembered how when she was stressed he would massage her shoulders at night before they went to bed, or when he was stressed she’d cook him a favourite meal. That when they’d be in public, they wouldn’t be kissing or hugging like some other couples, rather he would always remain within arms reach, and hold one another’s hand when they sat together. Small things such as him always telling her ‘I love you’ when he’d leave for work, or her always exchanging a morning kiss for a cup of tea. Such moments happened so often it seemed ordinary and routine to Sebastian, yet now he saw it all as having a new meaning.
Dahlia’s words echoed in his mind as he relived these memories over the course of what felt like hours, but were in fact seconds. Coming back to reality he feels a wetness on his check, and looking back at the window he sees his reflection has tears moving down his face. Wiping away the tears he finally speaks through a watery chuckle. “I, can only imagine what it would feel like, that sort of completeness. It sounds wonderful.”
He laughs softly at Dahlia’s worry and smiles brightly with weeping eyes. “I suppose your words caused my temperal lobe to broadcast memories associated with the emotions eminating from my frontal lobe, causing...er.” He realises she doesn’t need a biology lesson. “When you were describing the happiness you feel with Kit, it reminded of the happiness of my parents. About how they were always so close and in love in my memories. I’d...I hadn’t thought of those times for a long time, usually I think of their passing more than their time alive. And it was so overwhelming, the memories, that I couldn’t help crying about it, more in happiness than sorrow though.” He looks into Dahlia’s eyes, and asks nervously. “C-can I give you...can you...hug please?”
He nods and grips her tightly but careful not to squeeze her too much. He feels grateful for Dahlia's friendship, she is comforting and understanding even if she can't always fully grasp him feelings at times. Closing his eyes he allows himself to relax for a moment. Shes a great friend. He thinks to himself. So much love to give. Kit really is lucky to have a person like her loving her. And that is the hard truth Sebastian. She has her own life now and while you may remain friends...you'll never be her priority. Love means you put those you love first, selflessly and without a thought.
Internally accepting what he'd long thought to be true, he pats her back and pulls out of the hug with a sad smile. "I feel better now, thank you Dahlia. You're a great friend."
"I'm glad," She said with a small smile, "How about I give you a drink? I have some juice or lemonade, that always makes me feel better," She told him, heading over to the fridge. "Unless there's anything else you wanna talk about?"
"Oh, now that's a story," She said with a small chuckle as she got the lemonade out of the fridge and poured it into two glasses. "You see, when she first came to Hogwarts I had a crush on her from when I first saw her. I followed her around like a lost puppy dog, always trying to get enough courage to talk to her. Ugh, she was so beautiful and totally my type of girl. It was love at first sight, for me anyways,"
He nods with a grin and sips the lemonade. “I remember some of that. You were acting indeed like a lost puppy, and a little stalker-ish at times. Though it was sort of cute. I’m not sure how she didn’t notice your feelings.” He says, which is ironic for a guy who couldn’t tell the difference between going out with a pretty girl, and a fruit snack.
"I can't believe you noticed, I didn't think that it noticable," She said embarrassed, before glancing at him. "Sebastian, you couldn't tell if a woman wanted to sleep with you if she was standing naked in front of you,"
He shrugged. “Not too obvious of course, but I know you well enough to see when you’re interested in another girl. So how did you eventually ask her out?” He churckles before spreading out his hands expressively. “I’d have though she was a nudist in her spare time. If she wants to be naked, that’s fine by me, who am I to judge.” He shrugs.
She just rolls her eyes at his statement, thinking it was utterly stupid but deciding to ignore it. "I don't really know? I think we made out first before either of us actually asked each other out on a date, it was quite interesting to say the least how everything turned out."
His left eyebrow rises and his eye gain a cheeky glint. “So...you basically pushed her against the wall, plunged your tongue down her throat, and after thoroughly snogging her you then asked her out? Is that how it went?”
"Oh, about a year I'd say?" She said, thinking. "And neither of us really popped the question, we mostly just talked about it and agreed that's where we wanted our relationship to go. So we bought rings together," She said, wiggling her ring finger. "We're just trying to figure out the wedding with all this ministry crap happening,"
He nods with a happy smile, glad she and her partner were getting married. Then frowns at the mention of the ministry. "I've been hearing about the Ministry's actions as of late. Funny how much changes in a couple of years. How is the current Minister's policies affecting you?" He sips his lemonade glass.
“Well I cant get married legally because I’m gay, and I can’t get a job at the ministry because I’m gay. All of his stupid rules and laws are affecting me, personally and just in my everyday life. We can’t even leave magical London, since muggles are a danger for some reason.”
Sebastian listens to her patiently and does his best to remain calm at what she is telling him. He is usually a very calm person and often tamps down any strong feelings, yet hearing his best friend, the young lady he sees as a sister, being discriminated so blatantly and prevented from being even able to leave the city makes him furious. Perhaps it was growing up in the United States, where his father taught him the values of freedom, or spending time among the Nomag locals who had always been wary of government interference in their lives, or even his negative experiences of law enforcement during his travels. But he had developed a very strong view of the freedoms granted by God for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And the idea that the Ministry was now running as a kind of authoritarian state, made his blood boil.
I can take being searched and detained in a foreign country, its only me being affected and I am not a citizen of theirs. I can tolerate personally being called hateful words based on who I am and what I believe. But what I can't stand is my precious people having their freedom and rights taken away by others. He thinks to himself, feeling as though fire is coursing through his veins. Looking down at his cup rather than meet her gaze he stares at it for a few moments, his entire body thrumming with energy and emotion. Before seeing the lemonade begin to steam and boil with a magical fury.
Hearing Dahlia's voice breaks his concentration and the boiling simmers and cools down in the glass. His body relaxes and he takes a deep sigh. Sebastian closes his eyes for a few moments before opening them again with an apologetic smile. He meets Dahlia's eyes, and his eyes express and barely contained fire in them. "I'm alright, never better, you know just me being weird and stuff." He says quickly.
Kit's sad she won't be getting to spend the holidays with Dahlia like she'd hoped, but she was able to slip away so they ould at least spend some time together. Tucked ino her coat is the gift she picked out for Dahlia back when they were in America over the summer. She knocks on the apartment door, keeping an eye on the hallway out of the corner of her eye.
Dahlia had just finished making hot cocoa. She had christmas music playing and her apartment was decorated head to toe with decorations, and a small christmas tree stood in the corner with 3 presents under it. She excitedly went to the door, thinking it was a neighbor dropping off cookies or caroling. "Kit!" She squealed when she saw her, hugging her tightly and kissing her. "H-How did you get here? I-I thought you wouldn't be able to make it for the holidays,"
"Hey, babe," she says with a small grunt as Dahlia hugs her, and she hugs back just as tightly. "Very carefully," she answers with a chuckle. "Let's get inside--no need to make a scene in the hall. How are you? I feel like it's been forever."
"Oh, right," She pulled Kit into her apartment and closed the door, before hugging her again and nuzzling into Kit. "I've been doing better now that I have a stable job. As you can tell I went a little out on decorations," She said with a small giggle. "And it has been forever, you owe me a lot of kisses you know,"
"The décor is just this side of over the top," she teases. She really likes the look of Dahlia's apartment with all the decorations--hardcore, but not too much so. "You'll need to send me a bill for all those kisses I owe so I make sure I pay up in full." She punctuates her statement with three quick pecks to Dahlia's lips. "How is the job?"
She smiles sweetly at the kisses, feeling so happy and relaxed with Kit there. "Oh believe me, I have a very long bill in my bedroom. Every night and morning you haven't kissed me, plus some~" She said and poked Kit's shoulder. "The job is okay, it's not very interesting but I get paid well for standing all day. Guarding isn't all that it's cracked up to be, no one even robs Gringotts."
"They better not rob Gringotts," she says, eyebrows raised as she slips off her coat. "For their own sake." She takes Dahlia's hand and moves toward the couch to sit down. "Do they make you wear a uniform?"
She wraps her arm around Kit's waist and gives her a kiss on the cheek, handing her a cup of cocoa. "How about italian? There's a place that serves amazing Italian food." She said, resting her head on Kit's shoulder.
"Thanks," she says, accepting the cocoa and taking a sip. "I think I grabbed the menu from an Italian place, let me check." She draws her wand and summons the takeout menus she stuffed into her coat pocket. "Oh--shit." Some of her hot chocolate spills down her shirt as she tries to catch the menus. "Not the smartest move, but--this one?" She holds up the menu for the Italian place.
She giggles, “It’s quite alright,” she summons over a cloth and starts to dab Kit’s shirt with it. “Maybe we should have you change into one of my shirts while I clean this one,” she suggested. “Oh yes! How about we get garlic bread and chicken Alfredo,”
"Sounds good," she says, setting her hot cocoa, wand, and the other menus on the counter so she can take off her wet shirt. "I think I'll get the beef braciole for myself--getting on that time, y'know. I'm craving some red meat."
She uses her wand to put Kit’s shirt in the sink, enchanting it to start gently cleaning itself. She then summoned a T-shirt from her room, handing it to Kit. “Red meat huh? Sounds like someone is close to the full moon,”
"What do they smell like?" She asked, "I'll let you know I also like the way your shirts smell, they smell so... I don't know another word to use besides manly," She giggled. "They just have that rugged smell to them, like firewood and cologne."
She laughs. "Yeah, that campfire smell never really comes out. Not sure where the cologne comes from...must be my detergent." She takes another whiff of Dahlia's shirt. "I can't really...pick out stuff about it anymore," she says sheepishly. "Like, it just smells like you. Sort of...clean and homey, I guess?"
"Clean and homey huh? I think that suits me pretty well," She said, before wrapping her arms around Kit's waist. "How about instead of smelling the shirt, you let me cuddle you?" She asked with a small smile, nuzzling her nose against Kit's.
She wraps one arm around Dahlia's shoulders, settling in against her. "Um...why don't you open yours first?" Inside the elegant felt box, Dahlia would find a silver bracelet with inlaid purple stones in varying sizes.
"It's a weather bracelet for our first year together, for London. All the points are the high temperatures, the valleys are the lows, and those purple stones along the sides--sugilite, specifically--represent precipitation. The--ah--natural witch I spoke with told me sugilite is supposed to create a shield of light or something that helps keep away negative feelings and encourage positive ones." She studies Dahlia's face, trying to discern if she really likes it. "I pre-ordered it while we were in the US over the summer."
"B-Babe... This is so special," She said and sniffled, putting it on. "I can't believe you got this for me," She said, before hugging Kit tightly and giving her a kiss. "I'm gonna keep it forever. T-This is the most special thing anyone has got me,"
"I love it, thank you." She gives Kit a few kisses, before pulling back. "Now I don't want you to open yours... It doesn't compare to this," She said with a pout. "You're gonna think my present is stupid,"
She can't help but giggle a little at that, "If you're sure... Then open it," She said and snuggled against her, mostly trying to hide so she didn't have to see Kit's reaction. Inside the box would be a pendant necklace on a golden chain, the pendant was a deep purple color and about the size of a quarter.
“Let me explain,” she said quickly and sat up straighter. “So, the necklace is special. So what it is is that there’s different settings, kind of like a watch or phone. I have one as well, and so you can change it so it’ll mimic my heartbeat, or you can record memos and messages and I can hear them or play them back. And then it’s also like a camera so you can see what I’m doing if you get lonely or miss me,” she explained, eagerly waiting for lots response. “I-I hope it isn’t dumb,”
She lets out a small breath. “Of course,” she takes the necklace and puts it on Kit. “Now, you tap it once for my heartbeat, twice to send me a message and three times to see what I’m doing. GO ahead and give it a try,”
Kit's necklace projects a small image, almost like a hologram, and it's coming from Dahlia's own necklace. Kit can see what Dahlia can see, "I hope it doesn't bother you that it's so small, it's about the size of a phone screen..."
“What? No! Of course not, I’ve only ever slept with you-“ she pauses. “Too? Don’t tell me you’re pregnant,” she said, before pausing again. “Did you cheat on me?” She asked suddenly, at the realization that Kit can only get pregnant from a man.
Her arms fell to her sides after some tugging, “I-It’s Okay... i know I’m sensitive,” she said with a small sigh. “W-Well, I hope this isn’t too sudden. But, I wanted to talk about the possibility of us getting married in the near future.”
"Mm, I guess so," she says, her smile fading a little as she realizes they might not be able to get married with the minister's policies in place. "Why don't we wait a bit, give us some time to plan a bit?"
“I actually have a pizza we can Heat up, let me do that now,” she said and went into the kitchen. Taking the pizza out of the freezer and putting it in the oven, “Uhm, Babe? Can you help me with the oven,”
She raises her eyebrows, a bit surprised. She...hadn't expected it to be just...using the oven. But she knows Dahlia grew up without really needing to know these things, so she doesn't judge...much. "Oh, yeah, so you see these knobs?" Kit points to the one for the oven. "This one is how you set the temperature for the oven, see how there are little numbers? Three-fifty is a good temperature, as long as we don't leave the pizza in there too long."
Nike didn't want to be here, doing this, especially so close to Christmas. Honestly, it was a lot of effort to go to for shitty reasons, but it's her job. They'd received a tip that one of the half-breeds from the Precinct visited this address every couple of weeks, and supposedly they were there now. Nike knocks on the door and really hopes no one will answer so she won't have to stay late today. "This is Patrol, please answer the door."
Apparating after Nike, coat billowing around his ankles as he followed, standing silently at her side, watching the door intently. He had his hand in his pocket, secured around his wand in case of refusal.
Her heart jumps up into her throat and she can practically feel the blood draining from her face, but she keeps a calm expression on for Dahlia's sake. "Just stay here, I'll answer the door," she says calmly in a low tone. This is exactly what she'd been afraid of from the get-go. "It'll be fine." She gives Dahlia a quick and--she hopes--comforting hug before turning to answer the door.
She puts her free hand over Dahlia's, gently trying to pull it off her wrist. "You know they couldn't keep me away from you for long. I might need to lay low for a bit, but everything is going to be okay. Now I need to answer the door before they invite themselves in, okay? Just stay here." She moves to answer the door again.
