"Ugh," he smiles, a bit, "I'm having the worst day. I swear, Flaherty's got an entire telephone pole up his butt."

She crosses her legs, and turns to face him properly, her face a mixture of annoyance and inquiry. "I never liked him. What's he done now?"

"Well, okay, I hired a very talented, capable young man named Elliott. Elliott is also a vampire. Unconventional, yes. Wrong, no. Well, when Big Bad Flaherty found out, he summoned me to his office and basically called him a beast and then threatened to fire me if I didn't remove him from the roster. And, of course, this wasn't done in a nice way. No! I was treated like a child being scolded by a teacher." He huffed, angrily. "I'm furious, Marsye."
My name is Abigail Cassidy, I'm the Head of Ravenclaw, Deputy Headmistress, and Charms professor at Hogwarts. An opportunity has arrived for me to offer a summer trip to some of our upper-level students, particularly those who are interested in history.
There are, obviously, significant costs involved with a trip like this. I would love to discuss it with you further if you desire, as I am wondering if the Department of Magical Education would be willing to either help fund, or provide scholarships for students who would be unable to foot the entire cost.
To send over all of my plans and itineraries would make for a hefty owl. Is there some time you could pop over to Hogwarts and I could show you my plans?
I have an organizational meeting coming up in a few weeks for interested students. If you would like to attend, you are more than welcome.

"I'm Seth, I'm a student at Hogwarts. We were... sort of directed here. I'm looking for someone in the Ministry who might be able to help me. I'm looking to become an emancipated minor."

She raises an eyebrow, "Emancipation?" She asks, at his serious face. "Well." She says, stepping to the side so to let them in, "You should sit. This could take a little while." She says as she sits at her desk and removes some paperwork.

He sat down next to Jaeslya and looked at the woman, waiting for her response.

She gives them an empathic smile. "Sort of. These things pan out, you see." She looks at Seth. "You mentioned you're a student. That means that any legal action that you wish to undertake should be approved by this department, so you've come to the correct starting point. I'll be able to listen to your claim, and if it is legitimate, we'll run a quick background check on you in conjunction with the intelligence division of the department of magical law enforcement, and then after that, they'll probably want to hear your case. But of course, I have to ensure all the admin is done beforehand, otherwise they won't approve your request." She says, rather quickly. "Did I go too fast? I do that sometimes." She says somewhat apologetically.

He shook his head. "No, I got it." He paused. "I'm nearly sixteen. I'll start my sixth year this year. My Dad died over a year ago, my Mum is presently an inpatient at St. Mungo's for her mental health. I've been living on my own all summer."

She writes this out. "What did you say your last name was? And what condition is your mother in St. Mungo's for? If I could get her name, that'd also be useful. I need to know so I can get a background check done on her after this."

She nods and continues writing. "So the reason for the emancipation would be......she taps her pencil on the table, twice, three times.... "Deprivation from primary caregiver(s)." She says as she writes that down, a little bit proud of herself for making it up on the spot. "We could swing that." She says, looking up at him and meeting his eye. "But I can't just let you emancipate yourself. Where are you going to live? Do you have any uncles, aunts, godparents?"

"That's the thing. I don't want to go live with them. They all live in Denmark, and I don't know any of them. I thought that if I was emancipated, I could get my own place."

"Well, you do realise that this means that when your mother and extended family die, you recieve no untestified inheritance that you'd have recieved if you were still part of the family by law?" She asks seriously. "And if it's not specified in their will, you will recieve nothing." She clarifies once again.

"My Mother is too insane to make a will," he said shortly. "And if my father left a will... then the Ministry has withheld information from me."

"How do you intend on getting your own place? Most wizarding landlords won't rent property out to wizards who are underage. However, you are 16, which means you can legally be a homeowner by muggle law. What were you planning on doing regarding this?"

He frowned. "I figured if I was emancipated, I'd be okay for renting," he said. "They might not like it, but they'd have to agree. I also wouldn't need anything until next summer, between my sixth and seventh years, and by that time I'd be nearly seventeen. So I figured at that point, I would be okay."

She raises an eyebrow. "That's a whole different ball game, my dear." She says, "A Lasting Power of Attorney means that Seth would have to care for his mother, full time. In exchange for this, he'd have the right to make legal decisions on her behalf. But it is by no means, any form of emancipation." She looks at him to see his reaction.

She pushes forward a pamphlet towards them. "According to British Muggle legislature, you'd have to be eighteen. And you'd be obligated to keep your money seperate from your mother's." She cleared her throat. "That, and act in her best interests."

"I was told that bureaucracy of all this would take some time. I didn't expect to be emancipated tomorrow, so I didn't think I would have to deal with any of that until next summer," he said. "I turn seventeen about a year, and a week from now."

She bustled into her new office, sighing happily at her promotion. She placed her cup of coffee (she rather enjoyed muggle drinks) onto the desk and sat on her chair, taking a good look at her surroundings before beginning to unpack her things.
Marsye wasn't even in her office for two minutes when there was a knock on the door.

"Unfortunately this isn't a social call," she admitted in a low voice, closing the door. "I'm in need of your Divination skills."

"My divination skills? But you're a far better seer than I am..." She says with trepidation.
"We're in need of all the Seers we can get," she explained. "Professor Kinsel's future has been blocked from the normal methods of Divination. Whether it has been purposely done or not, the only way we can hope to obtain any information is through a Seer Circle."
