「 Octavia Boleyn 」graduated hufflepuff • intelligence officer
Even with the two hostages safely deposited in St. Mungo's with security details, Octavia hasn't wanted to go to the house. She's a ticking time bomb ready to explode, and she doesn't want it all to blow up in their home. It won't end well, she knows it won't. So she's instead in Drew's office, splayed out on the sofa, a cushion covering her face in hopes that the darkness would force her to fall asleep. It's kind of stupid of her, honestly. Drew lives and breathes her job. It's more than likely her wife will just show up here straight out of the hospital, and that's exactly the thought that would let her relax long enough to nod off.

「 Drew Hamilton 」Perfect from the bottom to the top
Drew had been calling Octavia but none of it got through. After making sure the healers had their hands on the two and other aurors could take over, Drew ended up returning to the house to make sure no one had properly left it. By the time she did get there, she found groups of aurors pulling apart the house, combing through it for whatever they could find. Good. Then she went back to the office, heading to her office after being told thats where Octavia is. Closing the door behind her, she stared down at Octavia, contemplating waking her up but decided against it, instead heading to her desk to start the never ending pile of paper work. Especially after today. It wasn't her best mission, but she didn't exactly expect it to go this way. Not that any mission ever went the way she expected. However, they had more information about this group than they had the day before so that was a win. Drew looked tired, dark circles beginning to form and who knew when was the last time she properly slept. She can do that tonight. She'd been offered the afternoon off but she waved it off. No sleep for the wicked and, so, none for her either.

Octavia knows Drew is in the office now. She also knows Drew thinks she's asleep, because otherwise, she has a suspicion she'd be talking her ear off about the case. A part of her wants to let her keep thinking that, but Octavia has always been fueled by spite, so when Drew is walking towards her desk, she opens her eyes, glaring at her back from where her face is buried under the cushion. Before Drew notices, she's shifting in the sofa, facing away from her wife. Is it childish, petty and disappointing? Yes, but then again, it shouldn't surprise anyone who has known Octavia long enough. Her childishness is punished when she finds her new position to be uncomfortable, and she huffs, disgruntled, bending her limbs again in hopes of worming her way into the Dreamscape.

Drew's eyes snapped over to her the moment Octavia began to stir and she watched her wife turn onto her side. It was enough to clearly tell Drew that she was in the doghouse. Drew could think of a few reasons on why Octavia might be upset with her and her pen came to a stop. Drew really had two options: ignore her and wait until she wanted to communicate or just cut to the chase and get it over and done with. The only silver lining was that Octavia had decided to come to her office. Sighing, she placed the pen back into its holder and leant back into her chair. "Is there anything you want to say to me?" She asked, not even for a second now believing Octavia to be asleep.

"Is there anything I want to — is there — Merlin, is there ever?" Octavia scowls, her face contorting into the displeased look even when she knows Drew can't see anything more than her back. The brunette shifts in the sofa again, but finds no position to her satisfaction. Frustrated, she groans and sits up, visibly defeated. She crosses her arms over her chest with a scoff. "This couch is more uncomfortable than you've been making me feel all fucking week, and that says plenty, Drew."

There was a slight inclination of Drew's eyebrow. "I know, I made it that way so no one would get too comfortable in here, I didn't think anyone would try to sleep on it," Drew said after a moment, her knee beginning to bounce slightly underneath the desk. "Do you want to elaborate or should I automatically know what I did wrong?" Again, Drew did have some suspicions but she wasn't going to start speaking for Octavia.

The comment about the couch has her gritting her teeth, ticked off. She swallows the heated remarks, though. But for the rest of it, all that self-restraint flies right out the window. "You should know, Drew. Our marriage has been going just fine. You complain about everyone else to me and I look the other way because I know you need an outlet. I let it happen, and that's fine! But when you come to me asking for help, begging me to co-lead on a case and ultimately leaving the case, I expect ful autonomy and control over the damn case. I'm not some probationary auror, Drew. I'm not some incompetent second year trainee trying to get my hands on a file for the thrill. This is my job, and yes, there have been times where I haven't been good at it, but I've gotten better and I've more than proven myself within the intelligence office. This? All this? This is my area of expertise. Gathering intel, going undercover, dealing with abductions — that's all my domain. I get that it's high profile! Merlin's sake, you have made that abundantly clear this past week. But this wasn't your case anymore because you chose to kiss Lestrange's ass and do her fucking bidding. You chose to focus on the Parade and let me do this job alone. Then you fucking backtrack without letting me know? Leading the charge, letting two civilians who are just as high profile and dangerous on the case, letting them compromise the scene and launch attacks on aurors without pressing charges, leaving me alone to clean up their messes — you didn't even consult me! Not once in any step of the way did you consult me — the auror whose actually leading the investigation — on what thought was the best course of action, whether I was okay with it, or if I agreed with your methodologies. Your work was sloppy and I got hurt because of it. So guess what, Drew? You should know what's wrong. You breathe for this job. Our whole lives revolve around this damn job. Ministry? Work. Lunch hour? Discuss cases. Go back home? Talk about our separate days in the office. We haven't even had our honeymoon because you're terrified of letting it go for more than five fucking minutes! I'm not asking you to let it all go! I just wish you knew how to balance both your lives, because right now, you're doing a lousy job at being a wife and being my boss."

"I did not kiss anyone's ass, first off, I followed orders from my superior, I cannot do anything else if I am given direct orders," Drew snapped, "nor did I ever say I left the case. I took a step back as I focussed periodically on another situation, trusting you would be able to get the job done, which you did. I ask for you to co-lead so I wasn't having to split my focus. I wanted you to have my back, not take the case completely." Drew knew she wasn't good at balancing work and personal life. But damn it she had been trying with Octavia. She'd even booked in the dates for the honeymoon. Admittedly, it was after the case had wrapped up but Drew couldn't exactly leave with one of her best aurors for a few weeks whilst this was going down, could she? Nor had she told Octavia that...it was meant to be a surprise. Still, it was one of the reasons she applied for the department head. So she wasn't Octavia's boss anymore. "Maybe I should have communicated better but it is a two way street. You didn't a say a thing the entire way through so how was I meant to know? You want to co-lead then speak up. And those were two an asset. Darling's an ex-auror who has inside knowledge that we couldn't have. Nor was I going to waste either of our time trying to make them sit still. Either we worked with them or they did it themselves, and I wasn't going start adding onto the body count. And even if he had been a proper threat, you are a capable auror with added abilities yourself. Yet you were down for the count in a matter of seconds. That was not on me. You were sent to Mungo's whilst I was left alone with them. And the house? I needed one of us to stay put to make sure everything there was put in order. I didn't need you to go back into the house, or clean up anything, but to make sure that none of them could come back and destroy it. We both couldn't have gone with the victims when that house has vital evidence in it. Yes, maybe I could have stayed back to tell you that, but one of them was seconds away from death. I didn't exactly have time to spare. If you wanted to take complete control of the case then you should have spoken up, I cannot read your mind. On the topic of reading minds, what on earth was that? I left for five minutes max and I come back to Darling practically destroying that perpetrators mind whilst you were just standing there, frozen. Don't tell me you couldn't have done anything, you're a werewolf, you could have pulled him off." Was she going to be ripping into Spencer first chance she could get? Probably, yes. Did she actually think it was Octavia's fault? No. That was on Spencer. Drew didn't even want to argue. She wanted to shut the case, never have to take one again. "I'm sorry," she said after a moment as she ran a hand through her blonde hair. "I didn't mean to shove you out, or disrespect you, or anything like that. I just...I tend to micromanage everything when I get stressed." Needless to say, she's usually always stressed.
