After testing it out on the world for a couple of days and working out the 'kinks' — where she'd get too irritable and snarky, for example — Regina had finally settled upon a persona, and it worked well for her. So it was the lunch break, and she'd gotten out the food she made for herself because she'd ( on a personal level, for her own wellbeing ) never subject herself to the unfortunate canteen at the ministry, nor whatever the English deemed it acceptable to sell as takeaway food, scarf settled around her neck to chase away the persistent air conditioning.

The air-conditioning is messing with María too - Merlin, the first good weather all year and the English are so determined to freeze everybody to death? - and she's been getting weird looks for wearing a thick leather jacket inside. Weaklings, all of them. She's at the coffee pot, making herself a cup of strong black coffee and resisting the urge to pour some brandy into it (she carries a bottle in her bag at all time for emergencies) as she waits for the water to heat up. Today is dragging.

"Thank Merlin someone else is sane." Few were as incensed by its existence — and scared of its power, the colpo d'aria, suffered by Italians and discredited by just about everyone else; Regina, having woken up in the throes of the worst pain imaginable in her neck more than once, has spent much time trying to convince others of its real nature — than the Italian people, but that was one person she wouldn't be silently judging at least. "Apparently so," he nods, her accent bleeding through as the pot boils and she pours her beverage; as bitter as physically possible, to wake her up and clear last night's this morning's hangover. Then she turns around and takes a sip, trying not to pull a face at the taste. Regina - that's her name, right? - looks far too elegant and put-together for this late in the day."I don't usually miss Spain but today? I'm a rude comment away from Apparating back there."

He had been absent for a few days - Suspectedly working on files from his home office. There were a lot, but the more he worked on the less work for his colleagues. The more they could all focus. So, after dropping off some files to the boss' desk, he steps over to the bullpen, checking to see if he had any more files to work through.

Cy barely looks up as he answers. "Sleep deprived, and regretting taking my work home - I was supposed to visit my sister yesterday. I never got around to it. Doubt she's happy about that." He couldn't really keep his family member being in azkaban away from his co-workers, considering they all work with the law - It was the sort of thing that you let people know in this line of work. Of course, it only took about a year and a half for it to become common knowledge. Still, Cy shrugs it off and smiles at Nike. "You look exhausted."

"As often as she can," he answers with a nod. "I try to make it better for her, but it's only a matter of time, ya know?" Until she completely goes. Cy stared at the ground as he thinks about it. The visits won't last forever, he knew that. But it is just now sinking in how little family he has left.

Working late is never a good idea, but crime doesn't stop when she goes to bed, so why go home? Presently, Jodie is sitting at her desk, filling out the reports she'd been procrastinating on, just as she'd been doing for the past two hours. Being an auror is all fun and games, but the paperwork? Not so much. "Are there any doughnuts left?" she asks loudly, hoping one of the other few aurors in the bullpen will hear her.

Hunter and the other hit wizards walked into the bullpen after hitting the gym. The smaller, elite group of Aurors always worked out together after the work day was over. Hunter heard Jodie ask for doughnuts and picked up the half-eaten box and brought it over to her. "There's plenty. What are you still doing here?" he asked the Intelligence Auror with a raised eyebrow

He pushes the door open - after turning it twice - to hear Maria mumbling something about doughnuts. He chose to stay quiet, just giving a small wave or two towards the little group forming, and heading straight to his desk.

Jodie capitalizes on the fact that the box is safely in her hands to pluck two doughnuts before her coworkers take the rest of them. She musters a tired smile and shrugs. "Too much paperwork to leave unfinished," she replies. Seeing as Nike is the first one to ask for the box, she leaves her two unattended briefly while she wheels her chair over and drops the box off before pushing her chair back to her desk. "Does anyone have any idea what time it is?" Her phone died hours ago and she's pretty sure she doesn't have a charger around here. She really needs to invest in a watch, too.

Cy looks up, tapping his finger once-twice on the wood before shrugging. "Yeah, I'm good, Mason. Jodie is right, there's a lot of paperwork to do." he replies with a smile. "Little stressed, that's all." That's the only time his OCD symptoms came out, was when he was stressed.

She's only half-listening to the general buzz of conversation, more focused on the doughnut tray in Jodie's hands, but she doesn't miss how clearly tense Cyrus is. "We'll go for a drink after work if you like, Cy," she says; they've been drinking buddies for a while, and it's not like she's ever not in the mood for a Firewhiskey."
