Sorting and Character Policy

  • You must only have one of each age bracket at a time. You can have one adult, one student, and one child in sorting. This is to prevent forums being forgotten and becoming stagnant. If you are making a second forum (e.g. such as resorting a child for a Hogwarts house) then just do the name with (2) at the end. E.g. Forum:Jane Smith (2).
  • When a child turns five, you need to sort them but you don’t need to sort them into a house. At ten years of age, you need to resort them for a Hogwarts house. After this, we will require you to make them a character page.
  • If you want to make a character peculiar post-sorting, just inform an admin user and add them to the peculiar tracker. You can resort them if you want. If you do, just say it’s a resorting and leave the personality part blanke (N/A), write a few sentences on how they became a peculiar, or copy and paste your previous history and edit in the changes (preferably bold the changes so the sorter knows exactly what to look at) and answer the other questions appropriately. We don’t need you to rewrite everything, just to let us know what you’ve changed.
  • A user must name the forum with a first name and a surname. It doesn’t have to be their actual name and can be a pseudonym. Whatever they’d put down on a legal document. If this really doesn’t work, then we can accept their first name doubled.
  • A character name cannot be your own name, numbers or offensive.
  • A personality is seven sentences minimum while history is a minimum of 14 sentences. Both of them can be in dot points, but we ask you to make them of considerable length. For example, four one worded dot points to cover their personality will most likely not be enough. The sorter wants a clear idea of who your character is so please don’t be offended if they want you to ask more. You can write the sentences in dot point form, we don’t need each sentence to be connected to each other.
  • You can do an interview based forum. The fewer questions you do, the more in depth we expect your answers to be. The more questions you do, we accept less in-depth questions. Especially if you have a few in-depth answers here and there. We ask you to do at least two sentences per question. The Wizengamot knows this can be very subjective but, again, we just want more of an idea of the character’s personality, voice and history.
  • A new user can have two characters maximum the first two weeks, nor can they vote. The intention behind this is to ensure the user knows how this wikia is run and be able to understand the community before being able to vote people into the administration team or make other major changes.
  • Please alert the wizengamot when you have finished the forum to ensure that they are aware of it. Whilst you might not be instantly approved, users generally have a two day window to look at your forum. If you think they may have forgotten, or didn’t see it, you can politely remind them again.
  • If you have not made the appropriate changes or haven’t edited a work-in-progress for two weeks then your forum will be denied. This usually isn’t a hard rule and if you communicate with the department that you need more time then, within reason, you will be given extensions. However, if you edit a WIP then your time will be reset. So if you edit on the thirteenth day, you automatically get another two weeks.

  • Each sorted character must have a character page and a word bubble (if you are roleplaying on the wiki, if you are roleplaying on discord, then the alternative would be a tul) .
    • A character page must include:
      • Full name
      • Their age
      • Occupation (including house and year level if they are a student)
      • Face claim along with an accompanying image
      • Their history and their personality
    • If you sorted the character with an interview based forum, you will need to include the answers onto the character page as they are the equivalent to a history and personality. (You do not need to have it structured in a word bubble on the page if it conflicts with the coding)
    • You do not need to have coding, and you can just copy and paste your forum if you so wish. The pages are there to be a ‘character’s headquarters’ per say and provides necessary information to all those wishing to roleplay with them.
    • If you do want to use code to make your page more aesthetic, please ensure you have the appropriate permission to use a specific code. All of our code is made by our users (both previous and present) and some require permission from those who created it. There are free to use ones! If you have any trouble with them, or who made the code you wish to use, don’t hesitate to ask.
    • You must have finished your character page within three days of having your character sorted, seven days at the most. If you do not make your character page within that time frame, your character will be placed under lockdown and you will be unable to roleplay with your character.
  • Wordbubbles are the code people use to roleplay with their characters on the roleplay pages. **They include:
      • An image of the character
      • The character’s name and the link to the character page
    • Depending on the code, they can often include other custom information such as age, or even a quote.
    • Unlike a character page, you will need a specific code for these word bubbles but there are many free to use ones and you can just ask for help if you’re struggling.
