- Each user is allowed one department head except for specific circumstances. If a user wishes to have a second head then they must provide a substantial reason on why they should be given. Reasons will be based on activity of the entire wiki and the qualifications of the second applicant. It will be up to the Minister of Magic, or a direct subordinate with permission, to determine if they should be given the second head. If, however, another user puts forward a character and they do not have a head themselves then it should be given to them.
- If a user holds the position of Minister of Magic, Hogwarts Headmaster or UK Monarch, then they cannot hold one of the other positions at the same time.
- A user can only have one monarch their entire tenure in DARP. If the monarch steps down, the user cannot create another monarch in another country but they can replace their monarch in the same country. We take into account that they have developed their own lore in that country that it could be difficult for other users to come into that country to try and make something new.
- In terms of prefects and quidditch captains, there are no set limits; however, we try to make sure everyone who applies gets at least one position. If there are no other applicants, then users can have more than one. Users who have the head of houses are the ones who choose these positions, but they cannot choose their own character above another user’s character.
- The user who has a headmaster/headmistress chooses head students. They cannot choose their own character over another user’s character. Generally, we ask that they don’t keep to the same users each year and try to give everyone an opportunity. However, we also take into consideration previous positions and experience into this decision.
- A Minister of Magic must only have two consecutive terms maximum. A term lasts one OOC year which means a user has two years at most before they must have their character step down from the position and give someone else a chance. A user cannot have a different character of theirs run directly after these two terms either but they can in the next election. Essentially, if Albus Dumbledore was minister for two terms, then he must allow Minerva Mcgonagall to be minister for at least one term before he may run again for his third term.
- Both Minister of Magic and Chief Warlock are elected by In-Character votes. Each user can roleplay two characters (must be above the age of seventeen and a UK citizen) vote for a candidate. They do have to be for the same candidate. Please keep their reasoning in character rather than out of character reasons.
- These positions, particularly headmaster/mistress and Minister of Magic, are expected to work alongside the administration department in order to help with the current expansion. This shouldn’t translate to the user with the minister blocking, or dictating, how the expansion should go nor should it translate to the admin team using that character as an NPC, even if they do have the final say. We expect users to work alongside one another and be expected to compromise in order to stay true to both the character and the expansion.
- Positions of leadership in non-Hogwarts schools are typically reserved for events. For example, if a user was to have the head of Beauxbatons, then it may be during the Triwizard Tournament and the user has permission from the admin team. However, if you would like to create a character who previously held the office then you would need admin team permission (moreso for the sake of continuity, it’d be difficult to argue that there were five different Beauxbaton headmasters during 2020). As a general note, you’d most likely have more luck in making a character on a council-based structure rather than a singular position.
