Out-of-Character Positions Policy
  • The Wizengamot are a group of users who volunteer their time to organise this community and keep it running. If you have an issue or need any help, then these are the users that you turn to.
  • They are voted in by the majority of the community and can be demoted by the majority of the community if they believe they are being more disruptive than helpful. However, we ask that you don’t expect perfection and this is a volunteer position. No one is going to be the perfect admin member and users will make slip ups here and there. Whilst we expect them all to be fair and open to all issues, they are balancing their real life responsibilities on top of this community.
  • The admin users are expected to be present in the community. If other responsibilities are too much and the user cannot balance them in the long term, then we expect them to step back. Short term breaks are fine, of course, but if you know you won’t be around for more than a month or two, then we suggest stepping down. Users can always come back, of course, they’ll just need to be voted back in.
  • The Wizengamot is the group of users who are voted in by the majority of the entire community. Their purpose is to keep the community running, whether it be events, sorting characters and locations, or other tasks.
  • They are intended to help the wiki, not dictate the wiki. Important decisions are decided by the majority of the community, not the majority of the administration team.
  • As per the Staff Code of Conduct, each admin agrees to the following point:
    • Treat users with respect and don't treat them harshly
    • Keep staff matters inside the administration team unless it's been made clear that it's public knowledge
    • Don't abuse your power, whether it through actions or your attitude.
    • Keep other admin members, whether it be your team, your head/other heads or everyone in general, aware of a situation. Don't act alone.
    • If a staff member does act alone, then the administration team should show solidarity and attempt to fix the issue instead of shaming that admin.
    • Show unity with the admin team and display a level of professionalism
    • Your job does come first and if an issue arises, you shouldn't show favouritism to a user simply because they're your friend . Furthermore, a user should not hold it against the admin if they are punished for whatever reason.
  • Generally, we abide by the following procedure for demotion:

If any of the points above have been broken then most likely it will be HR, with the support of the bureaucrats, that will issue warnings. However, there are times that it will be bureaucrats. It will go in this progression:

    • Verbal Warning
    • Official Warning
    • Second official warning
    • Vote for demotion
  • However, if an admin user does something incredibly severe and either the entire Wizengamot, or the entire community, believe that a Wizengamot user (or a HR member) are damaging the community more than they are helping, then a vote for demotion may be put forward even if they don’t have warnings. This is dependent on the situation, rather than people’s feelings for the user.
