His little brother being born

Being sorted into Gryffindor
"I'm EQ. That's short for Englebert Quigley, but I swear to God, if you call me that, I will rip your throat out and make it look like it was an accident. I've no idea why they named me that. I bet it's because I was an ugly baby or something. Doesn't matter - my name is my best kept secret, and I intend to literally keep it that way until it shows up on my f***ing tombstone."
Englebert Quigley Evans was born to Maria and Quentin Evans, the eldest of seven children, each with one hell of a name. By the time Englebert was nine, and the last of his siblings had been born, he was already used to keeping all his younger siblings in line - acting as the leader whenever their parents weren't home, and they were all so loud, so he had to yell to be heard. He didn't mind though. He liked being loud, and hated it when things got too quiet.
EQ is a half blood, his mom pureblood, and his dad muggleborn. He grew up reading his older cousins' Hogwarts textbooks and playing as beater in family games. His entire household was managed by magic, unless mum was mad enough to actually make them do chores.
When he was ten years old, everyone was anxious about the fact that he hadn't displayed any magic yet, including him. His cousin, trying to lighten the mood, joked that maybe he just isn't magic. Obviously, her objective completely failed, because that resulted in a raging EQ who shouted at her until her shirt caught fire, so she kinda succeeded?
A year later, he got his acceptance letter into Hogwarts. He enjoyed his first year mostly because he knew that the next, his family would start joining him there one by one. He with Roxane Oduba on the train, and the two bonded over making bets on what house each student in the Sorting Ceremony would be sorted into. Until now, they're best friends, and every librarian's worst nightmare.
EQ intends to be Head Boy, prefect, and if Niele Jusmaite has her way - beater on a his house's team. Whatever he's doing these seven years, he does because he plans to succeed.
In his fifth year and he becomes prefect (aka: one step closer to being Head Boy), he stays as beater on the Slytherin team, and he finds out the girl of his dreams likes him back. Still, life manages to find a way to completely and totally suck. It's like it's not even worth it waking up anymore. Why did he want any of this again?
He received eight OWLs: Arithmancy, CoMC, Charms, DADA, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions, and Transfiguration. He got O's in all, save Herbology where he got an EE. In other words: not. good. enough.
