Fiora is a fun person to be around. She has a great sense of humor and loves making people laugh. She is easily excited and usually has a smile on her face, but not easily impressed. She's very laid-back and casual, and extremely compassionate and generous, usually giving more than she takes. She's very humble but doesn't allow herself to be proud of herself, thus she can have a low self-esteem, constantly afraid people are judging her. Around her peers and professors she's very soft-spoken and sweet. Around close friends, she's talkative, funny and even pretty sassy. She's also extremely open-minded, so almost nothing will surprise her and she will almost never shun anything different or unusual.

Ruth Yang was a college student majoring in fashion design when she flew to Italy for an overseas two-month study. Although she had studied some Italian to prepare her for the trip, she still ended up hopelessly lost in the city of Milan. There, she met Matthew Cheon, who was a major in Italian itself. They fell in love in the beautiful city, and they found themselves staying longer and longer in Italy and with each other, neglecting their studies back home. Eventually, it had already been a couple of months and they both had to return-but not before Matthew proposed.
Even when they returned home, they found their way back to each other, and guess where they held their wedding? They returned to the beauty of Venice, Italy and there they wed and spent their honeymoon. In fact, after both of them completed college, they decided to situate in Venice permanently out of their love for the city.
Fiora Jihyun Cheon was born to two young, head-over-heels naive Muggles who were ecstatic with the birth of their child. However, it quickly became apparent that Ruth and Matthew had no idea how to raise a child, especially in a completely new environment. They had no idea how to manage a new family, or their household, for that matter. The delusion of new, perfect love vanished in an instant, and now it seemed like everything was a mistake-including Fiora.
Fiora grew up in the gorgeous city of Venice, around the sparkling canals and the bustling marketplaces. She learned to be fluent in Italian, Korean, and English, and constantly spent time in her beautiful birthplace and hometown. But the only thing that wasn't beautiful was her broken family. Ruth and Matthew constantly fought. Matthew believed having a child was a mistake, that the entire marriage was a mistake-they were both too young and inexperienced, and that the child deserved better. However, Ruth firmly believed that they could pull through, and that there was a first time for everything. They struggled with their jobs and although they came from wealthy families, they couldn't manage on their own. Fiora was almost never present at home-Ruth either sent her out on some tedious task just so she wouldn't hear the argument, or Fiora left of her own choice.
One day when Fiora was seven, Ruth and Matthew decided it was high-time for a divorce. They returned to the States, where they officially broke it off. Neither of them wanted to keep the young child. However, Matthew's elder sister, Charlotte, offered to look after the child herself. Ruth returned to pursuing a career in fashion, while Matthew went back to school to get his degree. They both visited Fiora, but rarely. Charlotte was married, though her husband was constantly absent due to a high-paying but time consuming job, and had a child named Jenny. They had a home in Cypress, California. Fiora was raised as though in a proper family, though her time with Ruth and Matthew never went forgotten-as much as Charlotte tried.
Although this change benefited Fiora, she was no longer the popular, adored child back in Venice. Here, school was an every day battle for her. When she was eleven, she was visited by a professor from the closest known wizarding school in the states-the Salem Witches Institute. When the whole ordeal was explained to Charlotte, she was a little skeptical about sending Fiora so far away, but agreed. Fiora attended the Salem Witch's Institute for six years, but into her seventh year, Charlotte's husband lost his job. Although he quickly found a new and better one, it was all the way in England. So, the family packed their things, taking Fiora with them, and Fiora is continuing her final wizarding education year at Hogwarts.
