The Character's Background

1) Give a description of your character's personality. It must be at least two paragraphs long, seven sentences each.

  • Truth be told, it's very difficult to look past how caring and compassionate Adrianna Altair is, even with the faults she may have.
    • It's one of her greatest faults, really. She has a heart, she wears it on her sleeve, and is consistently opening herself to getting hurt. But because she's Adrianna and she's oh-so-caring, she'll forgive anyone who hurts her, and thus is bound to fall into a vicious cycle of hurt and forgive.
      • Call her naive, but Adrianna always chooses to see the good in people. She took after Margery like that.
    • Her conscious is her greatest rival. It's what has forced her to come to hate her newfound identity of dhampir. She can't hurt people, let alone feed on them.
  • Like her compassion, one of Adrianna's greatest weaknesses is her loyalty.
    • She'll go to great lengths for anyone who she sees is worth helping, but this is especially true when it comes to her friends and family.
      • Though difficult to anger, anyone who wishes to see harm done to anyone she sees good can almost certainly expect retribution in some way, shape, or form.
    • Because of her undying loyalty and need to constantly be the hero (even when not called for), it is fairly easy to use Adrianna's values and morals against her.
      • It's safe to say that following her transition into a vampiric life, Adrianna has definitely become more cautious of her surroundings - and that includes the people around her. But, even then, she's very easy to win over, which presents problems when it comes to defending herself against manipulation of any kind.

2) Write about the history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? It must be at least three paragraphs long, seven sentences each.

  • Sadly, not much is known about Adrianna's heritage.
    • She was abandoned right on the outskirts of France's very magical town of Montcuit, just off the hiking trail that disappears into the forests around the town. Clearly, whoever left her there wanted her to be found - just not enough that they'd risk being discovered.
    • Although it was cruel to leave her in a shoebox with nothing but a thin blanket and some holes dug into the sides for oxygen flow, Adrianna's life became much better when Cassius and Margery Altair found her.
  • Initially, Cassius didn't want her.
    • Even though they were by all means part of the magical community, they weren't ideal candidates for parenthood; they were nomadic vampires fleeing from a dangerous, murderous, rancorous coven. Having a child - especially one so small and in need of so much care, like Adrianna - would make their survival significantly more difficult.
    • With that said, Cassius has always been known to give Margery what she's wanted, and it certainly was not surprising to find out one of her most well-guarded secrets was her desire to have a family of her own one day.
    • While Adrianna was likely not a vampire, Margery's maternal instincts still took over, and even to this day, they haven't faded. She loved her daughter from the moment she laid eyes on her.
      • It took Cassius only several moments longer before his willpower crumbled and he was just as smitten with newborn Adrianna as his wife was. His love for her was so distinct, so powerful, he gave her a middle name to compliment the one his wife had given her: Eloise, like his sister; the only other woman he'd ever come to love that fiercely.
  • As you can imagine, Cassius and Margery couldn't stay in one place for very long; not while they were on the run from a vampire who had vengeance on his mind and a coven to support him.
    • While it was a very unconventional way of raising a child, there's no denying it had positive effects on her growing up. Her family's travels exposed her to a multitude of cultures she otherwise would have never been able to witness.
    • Because this all transpired while she was in her critical period, she was able to adopt many of the languages very easily, though it led to her expressing each thought she had multilingually, which proved to be a bit of a challenge when it came to communicating with her parents.
  • Even though it was difficult, Cassius and Margery had made the circumstances work... until they couldn't.
    • It was no secret Cassius was most protective of Adrianna, which raised several big problems. He was one of the first vampires, sired by Tiamat Altair herself. It meant he'd lived long enough to piss off many people. People who, over time, came together with the sole purpose of ruining anything that brought him any amount of joy. As you must already imagine, this meant Adrianna and Margery.
    • Having what felt like half the European vampire population against Cassius and Margery is what led to the family's return to Scotland when Adrianna was only four.
  • It was difficult for her at first, to adjust to a more stable life with people she had never known before.
    • Unsurprisingly, Tiamat took to her quickly, as did Irkalla and Clementina, but it was different with Constantin. He was so cold, so merciless, and he always seemed to look at her with so much hatred that it permanently traumatized Adrianna and marred her experience with her adoptive family. Her days were spent largely in her room, with only her parents coming in and out to ensure she was safe and preoccupied with something - anything - else.
    • Her family was old, and with age came experience and knowledge that not many of those who were after Cassius and Margery carried. Within the month, every vampire with even a minor slight against the Altair coven had been dealt with, let it be killed or through empty promises.
  • With no need to worry over putting Adrianna's life at risk by legally adopting her now that their biggest headaches had been dealt with, Cassius and Margery filed for an adoption through the British Ministry.
    • There were, of course, questions about who she was, where she came from, and why there were no records of her anywhere, but the Altairs had friends in high places, which allowed the adoption to go through quickly and with very little interrogation.
  • Because the threats had all been dealt with, Margery wanted to settle down, though Cassius, like Adrianna, vehemently disagreed. They felt the best thing was to continue living a nomadic lifestyle.
    • Adrianna's argument - albeit in an odd mixture of Portuguese, Italian, and Spanish - was that she felt uncomfortable being in one place for too long. It made her feel anxious. Cassius' was simply that he wanted to keep his daughter comfortable and happy.
  • Unsurprisingly, Margery caved.
    • The only time where Adrianna found herself settling down again was when she was eleven. Up until that point, she hadn't exhibited any signs of magic, much to her parents' concern. They'd found her in a magical town... shouldn't she be magical?
    • Their concerns are what led them to take Adrianna to different specialists. They studied her mind, mapped her genes, but it all drew blanks. It didn't look like she'd inherited an active magic gene, and that was... not good. After all, she was being raised by vampires.
    • Luckily, though, just several months shy of her twelfth birthday, her magic manifested, though it was small and almost nonexistent. Fixing a tear in her teddy bear should hardly be considered magic. But her parents did, and the acceptance letter to Hogwarts confirmed it. She'd be starting late, and it seemed like her magic was weak, but... she had it, and that's what mattered.
  • Adrianna's preference for hopping from country to country eventually won over her parents, who had initially wanted her to go to Hogwarts.
    • Cassius, again, sided with his daughter for her happiness, but Margery only agreed when they began presenting more valid arguments, such as being able to study and practice different types of magic from all around the world.
    • While Adrianna succeeded in avoiding settling down in Hogwarts, she did have to work and study harder. Her parents expected solid improvement and no regression at all... even if her magic was very limited and didn't necessarily allow for grand magical gestures.
  • Everything changed some months later.
    • She and her parents were in TBD when they encountered a rogue vampire. It had to be a child... it had to be. They didn't seem to know what they were doing. They were skittish and their moves were hard to predict just because of how delirious they seemed. And yet they still managed to sink their fangs into Adrianna's neck, too fast for Margery and Cassius to stop.
    • Something went wrong, though. She only injected enough venom and fed long enough for Adrianna to finish her transition into a vampire with the same capabilities as a dhampir instead of a full vampire... which made very little sense.
  • Adrianna, understandably, went into crisis mode.
    • She didn't - doesn't - want to be a vampire.
    • Realistically, she knew it was something she'd have to deal with when she was older, but she wasn't ready yet. The idea of feeding on a living human sickened her, and now she was one. She couldn't cope with her new reality... which is why her parents had to do something about it.
    • Cassius and Margery began a search for a cure - the cure. But they couldn't do that and deal with their daughter... so they sent her to live with the Altair coven. At least while they hunted leads on something - anything - that would help her. She doesn't deserve to be stripped from the opportunity to live a human life. It isn't fair.
    • Sadly, this meant she had to go study at Hogwarts, thus bringing to an abrupt end her enviable schooling across countries. She's meant to begin following the conclusion of winter break, for what would be her third year.

3) Write about your character's appearance. What do they look like? Are you planning on using a certain model for your character? If you already have a picture in mind, you can put it here!

Kaylee Bryant WB 9Kaylee Bryant WB 7Kaylee Bryant WB 6

Adrianna's FC is Kaylee Bryant.

4) Is your character a Pure-Blood, Half-Blood or Muggle-Born? Do you have any notable magical relations? (Remember, you cannot be related to important characters from the Harry Potter Universe!)

Although Adrianna's heritage is unknown, her parents suspect she's at the very least a half-blood.

5) Does your character have any special abilities? Is he or she of a different magical race, such as Veela, Vampire, Werewolf or the like? Part or half of a magical race counts! (Remember, you cannot have a character with special abilities/of a different magical race as one of your first two characters!)

Sadly, Adrianna is a half-vampire.

6) What year is your character in?

Even though she should be in her fourth year, Adrianna is a third year student.

7) The Sorting Hat has been known to take house preference into consideration. If your character could select one house they believe they are best suited for, what would it be and why?

Her first choice would undoubtedly be Hufflepuff, with Slytherin at the very end of the list.

OOC Questions

B. Whilst the first two questions will not affect the character's house (and are mandatory), the others are designed specifically to help users come up with their character's ideal job (and are optional).

1) Is this your first character?

A. This is my first character.
B. No, this is not my first character.

2) If your answer to the previous question is B, how many characters do you have? How many of them are "exotic"? If you do have exotic characters, please list both the name and the type of exotic. Remember you are only allowed one of each type with the exception of nymphs.
