The Open-Ended Questions

A. Please answer the following questions as elaborately as possible. (Remember, this part is only a requirement for your third to fifteenth character! However, if you want to have more input on where you character is sorted, then please answer #6!)

1) What would you consider to be your character's strengths, and your character's weaknesses? Elaborate on your answer.

strengths: she's original, never one to be boring, never one to simply go along with the crowd. she's observant, and sociable. it can make her fun to be around.
however, she's also insensitive, slightly reckless, and impatient, so if you're looking for someone who's not going to get themselves hurt doing something spontaneous, you're looking at the wrong girl.

2) What goals and objectives has your character set out in their life? Is it to be successful and rich? Is it to find happiness? Why?

Literally her only goal is to become the Bear Grylls of the wizarding world, although she's also considered trying to become the first person to become Wizards' Chess Champion completely by cheating.

3) What's their ideal way of spending a free day? Why so?

Out in the wilderness, by herself, gaining new survival skills and thinking. People get annoying after a while, and she needs a rest on occasion to recuperate.

4) If your character could only keep 5 possessions, what would they be? Why?

1. A basic first aid kit - that's useful.
2. Her book on identifying edible plants.
3. Her flask that filters water.
4. A warm jacket just in case.
5. Probably the only sentimental thing she'll allow herself to keep; a picture of her mother.
All the rest were kept purely for the interest of survival in an emergency.

5) What one thing would your character change about the wizarding society? Why?

She'd rather change the fact that she's part of it, to be quite frank - Ainslie was quite happy with her Muggle survivalist instinct.

6) What house does your character want to be in? What house does your character not want to be in? Why?

Her sister is a Slytherin, so she'd really like to end up there.

The Character's Background

1) Give a description of your character's personality. Are you noble or sneaky? Arrogant or Humble? Anything about your character that might help the Sorting Hat decide. (Don't worry, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, personality must be at least one paragraph long for the first two characters, two paragraphs long for the third to eighth characters, and three paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth!)

You might be surprised to learn that someone who's literally half-veela has such a gritty dream - to become the next Bear Grylls - but the element of shock, and surprise, is something Ainslie Morgan actually rather enjoys holding over people's heads. It's an advantage, a slight one, but an advantage all the same, and Ainslie's always been one to hold her cards close to her chest. There's a burning ambition to make something of herself, like her aunt has always said she should, as well as an equally fervent need to uncover the real truth about things. That might be her conspiracy theorist persona speaking there - if there's a conspiracy about it, she probably has already read into it and is in the process of doing her own, personal, investigation. (She has a cousin who's a detective. They're acquainted, and one of her best friends is an info broker. Connections. Ainslie likes to know useful people.)
She's a decent gambler, she can play darts, and can lie through her teeth smiling to your face. (Her poker face and lying ability is the best thing she ever learned from her uncle, much to her aunt's dismay.) But her most striking ability is those leaned toward survival, even those that could be much more easily accomplished with magic. She wants to be Bear Grylls, really she does, with that survival-of-the-fittest temperament (she makes friends, but she'll always put herself first, the inner cynic) and she's not too keen on the magic part. She's probably the only witch who hates it. Everyone (mostly) knows she has a case of schadenfreude, so if she's laughing at your pain, it's not just you. She's like that to everyone. (She laughs at her own too, and there's plenty of that to laugh at.)
She cheats at Wizard's Chess, and Gobstones, and every other game under the sun, and gets away with it most of the time. Placing the blame on others is something she has a talent for, if she says the right words and sets the pieces up. (The cousins she lives with have learnt this fast. Her aunt thinks that the nature child is an actual angel insistent on living in a treehouse in her back garden. The cousins know better.)
Don't get her wrong, she's not the usual Slytherin type - she's breezy, sociable, friendly. It's the ambition that fuels every action she makes that might place her in the house of the serpents. However, she's always very aware of her surroundings, and she's more of a realist than a fantasist, and she's aware of other people and their intentions. She'll never sell out your secrets though, not unless you really make her feel wronged and hurt. Ainslie operates in what you might call a kind of 'organised chaos' - it's a mess, really, but she knows where everything is and that's all that matters.
She's got an almost unsettling lack of stress in situations that would be expected to induce it (she's been trying to survive in the wild since she was a kid) and she does a lot of things that could be considered dangerous out of pure curiosity, or because she feels it would likely end in something beneficial to her. Ainslie, unfortunately, has to be right, and winning matters more than protecting people's feelings. There's an overwhelming need to get out of here, because she gets bored of things, and people, on occasion. The same old place can just grow tiring. She is an ESTP.

2) Write about the history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? etc. (Again, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, history must at least be two paragraphs long for the first two characters, three paragraphs long for the third to eighth character, and four paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth character!)

Ainslie Morgan was the first of two children born to Evelyn (a Veela, who took on the surname 'Morgan' for the sake of her children having one that wasn't their absentee father's) and a father she's never known - she was mostly raised by their paternal aunt, her uncle, with her cousins from multiple aunts and uncles serving as siblings. It's a big family, and Ainslie's socialism reflects that.
She doesn't want to be thought of as a charity case, though; she's not that. Ainslie works for what she gets and finds more joy in the little things. The large family live in a house set in a large area of forest, and Ainslie has her own cabin for when she needs to get away - it's her favourite place in the world to be, and Hogwarts (although much bigger, much grander) pales in comparison to it in her eyes.
You'd expect a half-veela girl to be more glamorous, and she is capable of dressing for a social event should she want to, but since she was a child she has always wanted to be an adventurer. Like Bear Grylls. And despite her wizarding family's (muggle-born wizards) assurances that she wouldn't need to, she's always been learning survival skills. Sometimes she'd vanish into the woods for her own survival adventure. (Her first sign of magic was a small ball of light guiding her back home. If she tried, she could replicate it.
She sort of resented the magic, wanted to stay home and be a wilderness child - but the stories of Obscurials led her to accept the invitation to Hogwarts when it came, surely enough, as it had for each of her cousins. The arrival of her younger sister had jarred the little family, but now she's used to it, Ainslie is as protective of her as she is of her younger cousins.
Ainslie does visit her mother's veela clan sometimes, but has never really associated her with the title of parent. It's all about who you're raised by, and the only reason she doesn't resent it is she knows it's not her mother's fault that she couldn't stay with the Veela clan.
She went off to start her first year at Hogwarts. Now she's a fourth year ____ and she doesn't like it any more than she did on day one. (Well, flying at irresponsible heights and attempting to be Bear Grylls in the Forbidden Forest is still appealing.)

3) Write about your character's appearance. What do they look like? Are you planning on using a certain model for your character? If you already have a picture in mind, you can put it here!

Her FC is Grace Phipps.

4) Is your character a Pure-Blood, Half-Blood or Muggle-Born? Do you have any notable magical relations? (Remember, you cannot be related to important Harry Potter characters!)

Half-Blood

5) Does your character have any special magical abilities? Or special abilities in general (photographic memory, etc.)? Is he or she of a different magical race, such as Veela, Vampire, Werewolf or the like? Part or half of that magical race counts! (Remember, you cannot have a character with special abilities/of a different magical race as one of your first two characters!)

Half-Veela

6) What year is your character in?

Fourth
