1) Give a short history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? etc
Alonso Fayer was born in 1976 to Fernando Fayer and Sunisa Fayer nee Hall. He was a twin, although nobody else knows this fact because his twin,Luke, was still born (died at birth) so he does't really like to talk about his family, and will avoid it at all costs. He used to be rather adveturous, using what's around him, e.g. sticks for swords, and sometimes using them for artistic things like a tipi. He could sometimes, however, have his head in the clouds, and when he was small he used to believe that there was a glass man to help you write your essays, and tiny men hiding in your mother's thimbles... and one thing broke his heart, one dark night, a night of a damp, dark December. It was something that he dreamt...and of course, being young, he would believe it was real... he would see Luke wandering around the pitch black world of nightmares... a mere wisp of dark grey, thinner than air. He would be muttering in a voice that never rose higher than a mere whisper, each word sinking into Alonso like a bone-chilling wind...he would wake up, sweating, and all clammy.
Alonso was always a little bit of a show-off; he knew every single answer without fail, and was always the one who would be reading his textbook, and the one who would correct anyone on their spelling, or point out that the teacher had made a mistake. He was often teased by a gang of bullies; big ones, aggressive ones. And boy, could they whack a punch with their ham-like fists. The whole school knew they had all taken karate lessons, and that they would fight if anyone dared to disagree with them. So consequently, nobody did. And that’s why Alonso ended up a loner, the skinny boy that everyone hated.
Alonso always knew he was a wizard, but once, he was working, in silence-hard, of course, when you’re that young- and his pencil began to fly. Luckily nobody noticed, although, quite frankly, if they had, it wouldn’t have made any difference; everybody thought he was a freak anyway. Well, everybody except Ryan.
Ryan was a tall, skinny boy with round, crooked glasses. They had to be Sellotaped to keep them from falling apart. Not to mention his acne, and of course, his bright red nose. People called him Rudolph deliberately- and why? Because the gang of bullies did. Everybody did what the gang wanted them to do.
They were best friends, as they were both teased by this gang and shared their pain with each other. Until… Ryan set him up. It was a dare from the bullies. They said that if Ryan dared to set up his friend, Ryan would be allowed to join the bullies, and he wouldn’t be teased, or punched, or kicked, or harmed anymore. He had no chance as soon as he agreed.
He led an unsuspected Alonso onto the field churned to mud by the previous night’s torrential rain. He said that a boy was selling sweets here. Alonso waited quietly and didn’t see Ryan leave until it was too late. Ryan had locked the gate. Alonso was the prey of the bullies, and the bullies played with their prey before they knocked it out.
Then they arrived- swift as eagles- well no, as noisy as the stamps of an elephant. With a jolt Alonso realised that he had been betrayed… and he was officially Alonso, the boy with no friends once more.
Then, his letter arrived, written in bright scarlet ink, inviting him to the local Spanish wizarding school. It was a magnificent castle with shining mahogany floors, a marble-floored ballroom… and even a Great Hall, although it was named in Spanish. The curriculum was very much the same, although first years were taught a special charm that covered all the bare skin in sun cream, and fourth years were taught a charm that would strengthen their sunglasses. And fourth years could transfigure a rock into a bottle of sun-cream.
He would beat everyone in the first year exams; full marks in every one. He would have revised madly, and despite this he was sorted into Serpientecasat, the equivalent of Slytherin, as throughout the summer holidays he would have developed a severe cunning streak.
He would receive prefect status in his fifth year, from his head of house Professor Flink, who taught Transfiguration. Unsuprisingly, he would get straight O’s in his OWL’s and NEWT’s (yes, they were called that in Spain).
2) Give a short description of your character's personality. Are you noble or sneaky? Arrogant or humble?
Alonso prefers to have things his way, although he does generally listen to the opinions of others. He is particularly good at making plans- not one of them has failed so far. He refuses to admit he can sometimes be selfish, but is very diplomatic and approves of correctness in every stage of life. He also approves of explanation; so if you do not back up your ideas with a reason as to why it will benefit, he is unlikely to take heed.
He does prefer to stick with his own ideas, but if they do benefit he will happily include the ideas of others. It takes a lot to gain his trust after Ryan’s betrayal, so first impressions are everything.
