The Character's Background

1) Give a description of your character's personality. It must be at least two paragraphs long, seven sentences each.

Arthur, truly, is quite the extrovert. He's the type of person who'll say goodbye but still be talking to them twenty minutes later. He often we'll be the one to start small talk with a stranger, or keep a conversation going. He also loves to make people laugh, often making jokes when it seems the right time. Are they often dad jokes? Admittedly yes, but in his defense, he's a dad. A supportive dad at that. His family is the most important thing to him, and will put everything aside to make sure they have what's best for them. This is the biggest reason why he quit his job momentarily; to care for his children. He's a selfless person in general, especially to them.

Although Arthur is an extrovert and social person, he also has learned to have a reserved or secretive side. He had to if he was going to work in the Department of Mysteries. Keep his work confidential like the rules said to. He's a good secret keeper. Someone good to talk to if you need to let something off your chest. He's a good listener, that being part of learning as a dad. He wants to make sure his children know they can always come to him if they need to speak to someone. He's smart enough to know that knowing things will help him learn more, even when it comes to parenting. Arthur is smart - some could even say very intelligent - but there's still a lot left of the world to learn, and he knows that. So, sometimes, he makes sure to keep his mouth closed and his ears open.

2) Write about the history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? It must be at least three paragraphs long, seven sentences each.

Oliver Edison was the only child to Margot and Richard Edison, a lesser known pure-blood family in America. Although, with a mix of inheritance money and hard work in their field's of occupation, the family certainly did have some money in the bank. Enough to admit that their young and only child was, what some might admit, a bit spoiled. He never had to worry much about anything, having the privilege to receive tutors and, ultimately when starting Ilvermorny, be prepared for his magical school. The school was nice - proud of being sorted into the house of the mind, Horned Serpent - but he wouldn't stay there very long as the family would shortly after move to England due to a change on jobs. Ultimately, Oliver would be sorted into Ravenclaw at Hogwarts during his third year and spent the rest of his schooling days there.

Both Carol's parents were muggles. Esther and George Finke, the daughter was the youngest child of the married couple in Ireland, having three older brothers. Life was quite hectic with a decent-sized family, but it was happy anyways. Though, the moment it was figured out she was a witch in the family at the age of nine and her first magical incident occurred, her entire family completing left her out. Especially when she started Hogwarts, the family almost pretended she didn't exist. Not even in the summer. You see, George himself was a squib son to wizards and chose to live life with the hate of magic, teaching that hate to his wife and children later on. Though, Carol stayed happy anyway. What kept her happy? Hogwarts. The sorted Hufflepuff loved every part of it.

Carol and Oliver met early on, it being Oliver's first year attending Hogwarts and leaving Ilvermorny when doing so. He had been a little lost himself and when seeing Carol, he asked for a little help. She ultimately did take him on a tour through the school, the two become close friends in the process. All through Hogwarts, they were that one close friendship that everyone thought the two were dating when they truly weren't... Well, until they were. It's hard saying how they started dating in seventh year or who asked who out. Oliver had been having on and off crushes on her since fifth year, Carol starting to recently catch feelings herself, too. They were just sort of talking one day... and it sort of just happened.

Let me just say, these two were the ultimate power couple. Coming Hogwarts graduation, Oliver pursued becoming an auror while Carol was invited by one of the big leage quidditch teams to play. So ambitious and wrapped up in work, it wasn't until they were twenty-eight did they get married. After that, they talked one night about maybe not having kids... but ultimately Carol did get pregnant when she was thirty and two were more than excited to bring a new family member in their life. They didn't expect to bring in three. Carol birthed three beautiful babies - Laura, Camila, and Violet - and the family could not be happier. The children count was supposed to stop right there, but nine years later, the thirty-nine year olds would recieve the news they were having another child. This child was much, much more unexpected than the triplet pregnancy. Though Arthur, a bit of a born accident, was born and was welcomed home just as much as the triplets.

Growing up, Arthur had always felt like the left out sibling. Of course, how could he not? His only three siblings were not only all girls, they were all nine years older as well. Camila did play with him often compared to the other two, but it was just a different sibling relationship rather than if they were closer in age. Plus, when he was only two, the girls were off at Hogwarts and studying magic. Even when Arthur attended Hogwarts nine years later, they would already be a couple years out of graduation, on with all their lives and jobs. He had to figure out the school by himself, unlike the three who had each other. Funnily enough - especially when time passed and it was clear Arthur was a very talented wizard - it had been assumed for quite a bit that Arthur was a squib. His first magical experience didn't occur until as late as ten. Violet had been watching him for a few days since his parents were out on a little trip, and the two siblings had started an argument about who knows what. Things escalated, and ultimately, a book flew from the shelf and smacked right into Violet's face. Yeah... Definitely got in a bit in trouble for that one.

It was no surprise when Arthur was sorted into Gryffindor. He was social, adventurous, and always trying and being bold. Arthur did well in his years of Hogwarts. He was a talented wizard, not top of class but decently close for sure. The only time he really had a bad enough struggle in class was in seventh year, and thank goodness he had. A Hufflepuff student in the year below him, Lucienne Cantrell, had helped him tutor, helping him receive outstanding marks by the end of the year. The two had become quite close and, eventually, also started dating. After both of them had graduated, Lucienne found the two and nice apartment that they both moved into. Financially, they both did well, Lucienne working as PA of the Head of International Magical Cooperation and Arthur being hired into The Department of Mysteries in the Ministry.

A year into living together, Tristan Edison was brought into the world. The two weren't married, but Arthur did propose in the middle of Lucienne's pregnancy, then with a toy ring that was eventually replaced with a real one. They would be married four years later, Lucienne being pregnant with Gideon by then. When Tristan was around six and Gideon about a year old, the four all went on a nice vacation to France. During their time, they encountered a young, five year-old girl who had run away from the orphanage she stayed in. With both Arthur and Lucienne agreeing on the situation, after a long process, Theodora Edison was newly welcomed into the family. Both Arthur and Lucienne were excelling quite well in work, but it came to a point when Arthur had a realization when Gideon was around eight. Feeling as if he had been so busy with work that he wasn't seeing his son - the other two being at Hogwarts - quite enough as he should, he ultimately took a break from his job to stay at home. Life was good being a stay-at-home dad, and the family was still doing well with finances Lucienne working still. A few years later, and Gideon soon to be starting Hogwarts in a few months time, Arthur believes it may be good time to get back to the work he once was apart of.

MoM Arthur Edison has been registered as a citizen by the British Ministry of Magic!

"Upon the signature of the International Statute of Secrecy in 1689, wizards went into hiding for good. It was natural, perhaps, that they formed their own small communities within a community."
