The Open-Ended Questions

A. Please answer the following questions as elaborately as possible. (Remember, this part is only a requirement for your third to fifteenth character! However, if you want to have more input on where you character is sorted, then please answer #6!)

1) What would you consider to be your character's strengths, and your character's weaknesses? Elaborate on your answer.

Ayla is fiercly independent, a quick thinker and rather athletic - fast and strong. This comes from a life of feeling like an outcast in her home town so she learned to be on her own and became street savvy at a young age. She is a bit of a loner, slow to warm to others and can come across abrasive. Once she has warmed to a person she is fiercly loyal to that person but can let that cloud her judgement when facing an obstacle. Hopeless romantic, but hides it.

2) What goals and objectives has your character set out in their life? Is it to be successful and rich? Is it to find happiness? Why?

Ayla has a lot to prove to herself and her own community. Her goal is to become one of the most known witches in all the land, to prove to the family that rejected her that she never needed them.

3) What's their ideal way of spending a free day? Why so?

Ayla spends her free time with study, but more importantly practicing the practical magic over reading books. She has a particular strength in defence against the dark arts and transfguration.

4) If your character could only keep 5 possessions, what would they be? Why?

Her wand of course, a locket from her home town to remind her of why she is here, a journal where she puts the thoughts that scramble through her mind, a bag of holding, an owl as a friend and a confidant.

5) What one thing would your character change about the wizarding society? Why?

She aims to make witches and wizards more accepted in the world, so that no young witch or wizard has to feel the heartbreak and rejection that she felt when she was young.

6) What house does your character want to be in? What house does your character not want to be in? Why?

She has no particular desire, she doesnt know where she fits in life or in sorting.

The Character's Background

1) Give a description of your character's personality. Are you noble or sneaky? Arrogant or Humble? Anything about your character that might help the Sorting Hat decide. (Don't worry, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, personality must be at least one paragraph long for the first two characters, two paragraphs long for the third to eighth characters, and three paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth!)

Ayla is quiet, brooding, a natural loner however is fiercly loyal to those that earn a place in her heart. She is independent and has a lot to prove to herself and the rest of the world. She comes across cold but inside is warm and caring. She comes across high and mighty at times but is truly humble on the inside. She is a mask, she is a wall that she wants people to see.

2) Write about the history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? etc. (Again, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, history must at least be two paragraphs long for the first two characters, three paragraphs long for the third to eighth character, and four paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth character!)

Ayla's beginning was in a home of two magical parents, in a small town placed nicely in the middle of a forest. She was not meant to happen and found out she was a "mistake" as her parents put it when she was only 8 years old. They rejected her and left her to fend for herself. She learned how to survive on the street and fend for herself.

It was hard for a child to believe that two people that did not care for her were telling her the truth when they told her about her magical background. They told her and went back to thier selflish day, drinking and not caring for Ayla.

She went outside for a walk just after this in the forest surrounding her town. As she walking through, a bird (at least she thinks it was although it was so big it might as well have been a dinosaur in her eyes) swooped down and made her stumble and frightened her, her reflexes came in to effect and a protective glowing dome appeared over her. She did not understand what it was but this is when she believed in what her parents had told her. She stayed in that ball and cried for what she thinks was hours, though it may have only been a minute. Walking home and questioning why the world was so cruel she wondered if she would ever find a place to accept her.

When her letter arrived at 10 she was relieved and scared. What if these people at... whatever Hogwarts was, didnt accept her either. Her parents didnt even bat an eyelid as she left towards hogwarts, where she was determined to prove to the world she wasnt a mistake and that she will be the greatest witch of all time.

3) Write about your character's appearance. What do they look like? Are you planning on using a certain model for your character? If you already have a picture in mind, you can put it here!

Ayla is 5ft, olive skin, peircing emerald green eyes, full lips and long brown straight hair mostly worn in a plait down her shoulder. She is a slim athletic build but looks like a young preteen woman in her stance and figure.

4) Is your character a Pure-Blood, Half-Blood or Muggle-Born? Do you have any notable magical relations? (Remember, you cannot be related to important Harry Potter characters!)

Pure-blood, no notable relations.

5) Does your character have any special magical abilities? Or special abilities in general (photographic memory, etc.)? Is he or she of a different magical race, such as Veela, Vampire, Werewolf or the like? Part or half of that magical race counts! (Remember, you cannot have a character with special abilities/of a different magical race as one of your first two characters!)

Not Applicable, first character

6) What year is your character in? First Year

OOC Questions

C. These do not affect what house you're sorted to, but everybody must answer them!

1) Is this your first character?

A. This is my first character.
B. No, this is not my first character.

2) If your answer to the previous question is B, how many characters do you have? How many of them are "exotic" (of a different magical race/have a special ability)?

Hello and welcome to DARP! Your character's looking good so far, just a few tiny things to sort out real quick.

  • As much as we don't wanna, we have to ask of the history being at least two paragraphs. So I have to ask that you add one more paragraph and you should be fine!
  • Also, the timeline doesn't add up? Most Hogwarts students get their letters at 10/11, not 13, so that might need to be fixed to properly fit in.

ACSEvieForSophieSigI knew it when I met him,I loved him when I left him ~Sophie

Your character looks amazing! Just so you know, she was a Gryffindor/Slytherin hatstall, but the hat ultimately went with Gryffindor due to her fierce loyalty, quick wits & exhibiting a head-strong quality Gryffindors typically possess.

Gryffindor crest The Sorting Hat has placed Ayla Sarlia into Gryffindor!

"You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart."
