Fiercely independent, Emmelie downright hates being helped in any way, shape or form. This came to show once she woke up from the coma, and her parents did nothing but help her. She hates feeling weak, helpless, and vulnerable, so she tends to put a strong, protetive barrier around her - it's sometimes hard for people to crack her in both positive and negative ways. Not only is Emmelie protective of herself, but she also protects those she values. She's quite loyal to them, and breaking ties with said people or having them break ties with her in any ways leave a scar deeper than noticed. Moreover, Emmelie doesn't take well to betrayal, nor being lied to.
Born into the world of hunting, it's one of the things she likes to do. As cruel as it may seem, the only thing Emmelie does is injure them, have her father heal them, and then release them. She's not into killing them, unless they take the first step into harming her or anyone else. It was one time that her father almost got mauled by a bear in a hunting trip all the way over in Alaska, United States, that she had actual experience at hunting, having killed it with enough arrows. From this incident arose her passion for taming animals, as odd as it may seem. She loves animals - wild animals, to be specific - and she's figured out by now she wants to work with them - preferably dragons - once she graduates.
For this, she knows she needs patience and intelligence, and that's not something Emmelie lacks. If anything, it's something she has more than enough of. Alongside her patience is her courage to stand up for everything and everyone she believes in, as well as her determination in accomplishing the tasks she has.

Emmelie Rybak hails from Jokkmokk, Sweden, with Norwegian father Kjetil and Swedish mother Siv. Originally, the small family of five was meant to live in Norway, but upon Siv losing her mother to cancer, the muggle decided it'd be best to live close to her father. No way would Kjetil allow his family to be split, nor would he allow his wife to take his little girl and two boys from him. So, he did the only thing he could. He followed her.
Life was normal for the family, or at least as normal as it could be for a family with a wizard. Kjetil was the definition of a lazy man when it came to chores - he didn't want to do anything around, so he finally revealed his being a wizard to his wife a few years into the marriage, and he began using it to do everying for him. At first, Siv was outraged - her husband of years had kept something this big from her. She demanded he stopped and made something out of himself, but he couldn't really do it. Ultimately, they agreed that he wouldn't do magic around her nor four year old Emmelie Rybak. However, it was too late - she'd already witnessed it a few times, and loved it.
While Siv was adamant that magic was to not be used in the household, Emmelie wanted to see more magic. Wanting to please both girl and woman, Kjetil came up with a solution - take a day out of the week with Emmelie to perform magic and do his favorite thing to do - hunt. From the first day in the forest on, Emmelie began to grow and flourish in the arts of hunting. During the weekdays, she'd spend her time with her mum - who by then was pregnant - and her father, and then on Saturdays, she'd head out to the forest with her dad, and practice her archery skills. Granted her father helped a little with his magic, but she still did most of her work.
Her love for hunting and archery only kept growing to the point her mother had to create a new rule - no bows, quivers, or weapons in general were allowed in the house. Kjetil was forced to create a small cabin in the woods behind their house to keep all their stuff. This, however, wasn't a good idea, according to Emmelie. Her mother had to suck it up. She was the one that wanted to stay in Sweden and live there, and she kept putting restrictions on her own daughter and husband. These thoughts led to a temper tantrum from Emmelie's behalf, it getting to the point that her parents had to get her out of the house so she wouldn't hurt herself with anything within the house. Outside, things only worsened, with some of the trees lighting up on fire. While Siv wanted to ground her daughter's sorry ass, but Kjetil knew better and stopped her from doing so. No matter how surprised he was at the seven year old's display, he had to stop Siv. Emmelie obviously couldn't control it, for it was her first out of many magical outbursts.
What surprised him was that the youngest kid had already had her first magical outburst, while the first two kids hadn't. They were late bloomers, he assumed, so he let the topic be.
Oh how wrong he was.
Emmelie, Alexander and Klas were staying with their dad's sister while their parents were celebrating their anniversary, and they were on their way to buy some plummeting items. Afterwards, they'd be getting ice cream. Alexander wanted his ice cream sooner, so he did what he thought would work - throw a tantrum. It escalated the harder they tried to calm him, and suddenly a blinding light blocked them from seeing anything. This took his aunt by surprise, causing her to scream, which in effect distracted her husband from paying attention to the road (like he was, anyways, being blinded), which in effect caused him to drive past a red light, and a truck to smash in from the front. Their aunt and uncle took the main hit, dying on the act whilst Klas ended with multiple broken bones as he protected Alex, who ended with bruises and cuts from the broken glass. Emmelie had bounced to protect her two younger cousins, effectively getting more cuts, bruines, and broken bones than either of them.
Klas was sent off to a school of magic as soon as possible.
Emmelie slipped into a coma - one of which she woke up from but two years later. She grew conscious in time to see she had an invitation from Durmstrang to learn more about her wizarding heritage. After months of recovery (though her PTSD and Amaxophobia slowed the process), Emmelie was sent off to the school, where she got a hang of how life was again, what she'd missed out on, and what being a witch was all truly about. During her years in Durmstrang, Emmelie caught up with most things and reconnected with her wild side - the one that loved archery and throwing knives and fighting with swords, and had a passion for taming animals.
During her sixth year, the Swedish-Norwegian Durmstrang student found out there would be a Triwizard Tournament hosted by Hogwarts and came to Scotland in hopes of becoming a champion for Durmstrang. Not to mention, she had family there, so she may as well try and reconnect with them.
