A. Please answer the following questions as elaborately as possible. (Remember, this part is only a requirement for your third to fifteenth character! However, if you want to have more input on where you character is sorted, then please answer #6!)
1) What would you consider to be your character's strengths, and your character's weaknesses? Elaborate on your answer.
Her biggest strength is her enthusiasm for knowledge and learning. But that can also be her biggest weakness, especially in social situations when she continuously asks questions and won't stop until she has an answer.
2) What goals and objectives has your character set out in their life? Is it to be successful and rich? Is it to find happiness? Why?
To be successful, but not necessarily rich. She's mainly looking for approval from her parents and to live up to their expectations of her, since she's always felt slightly pressured by their intelligence and success, and the fact she's their only child.
3) What's their ideal way of spending a free day? Why so?
Reading, preferably to complete engross an entire subject and become more knowledgeable on something she hadn't known before that day. The reason is partly because she finds it enjoyable, but it also feels productive and like it will get her success.
4) If your character could only keep 5 possessions, what would they be? Why?
She isn't sentimental and would probably pick specific books based on their content, but also wouldn't be bothered if she didn't get to keep anything as she knows she can always find out again.
5) What one thing would your character change about the wizarding society? Why?
The fact that it's a secret! She thinks there are so many real world uses for magic and the wizards just push aside all the muggles in need. She'd make the two join up, so science and magic together could create a better future.
6) What house does your character want to be in? What house does your character not want to be in? Why?
She doesn't want to be in Gryffindor because she sees their recklessness and bravery as stupidity. She's most drawn to Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

1) Give a description of your character's personality. Are you noble or sneaky? Arrogant or Humble? Anything about your character that might help the Sorting Hat decide. As the child of two scientists, Halley has always grown up craving information. If she has a question, she’ll find the answer, that’s a fact. She sees herself as studious to a positive degree, but others might call it obsessive and a sign of her need for perfectionism and completion. Halley isn’t one to put up with the satisfactory and she’s an overachiever in all aspects of her life. One of her biggest pet peeves is people who don’t take action for themselves and wait for others to solve their problems for them. She doesn’t take failure well, mainly because she’s used to getting things right.
Unlike your typical nerd, she loves being around people…but her people skills aren’t brilliant and she’s always struggled to form bonds and make friends. In conversation she’s often a little awkward and lacks focus, going from one topic to another at lightning speed. But getting Halley to talk isn’t the problem, it’s getting her to stop! Be it a question or a trivial fact, there’s always something coming out of her filter-less mouth. For that reason you might not want to trust her with your darkest secrets, because she isn’t great at keeping them. Truth is fact, in her opinion, and facts should be accessible to everyone, so she’d have no desire to hide it. Even if she wanted to lie, she’d struggle – despite excelling in most areas, Halley isn’t good at creating new information and therefore isn’t a brilliant liar.
Halley is a sucker for gossip, and often doesn’t understand the personal boundaries of information. She dislikes shy people and finds their quietness suspicious, but also as an interesting challenge to get to the bottom of them.
In moments of need, she’s often the first to jump forward into leadership and take control…despite what the others around her want to do. She doesn’t mean to come across as bratty or narcissistic, but can be boastful and believes you have a right to be proud of your accomplishments - of which she has many, giving her a strong amount of confidence. That doesn’t mean she’s without fears though. The shame of letting her parents down is something that motivates her daily, since she knows how much they want her to succeed and that she was their only chance of a child. She’s also afraid of the unknown, or anything that you cannot rely on for certain. Death is one that crops up a lot, and unlike her atheist parents she is actually agnostic, and that scares her even more than the idea of certain heaven or hell.
Though she focuses mainly on the facts in situations, she still has a positive and optimistic outlook on life, believing that you can make anything happen if you try hard enough.
2) Write about the history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? etc. (Again, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, history must at least be two paragraphs long for the first two characters, three paragraphs long for the third to eighth character, and four paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth character!)
Halley’s parents, Bethany and Marcus met at university where they were studying for their science degrees. Her father is a respected astrophysicist and professor, while her mother is a marine biologist. Their romance was slow-building as they were both more interested in their work than a relationship, but it did grow nonetheless.
After they graduated they moved in together and the relationship continued to slowly build for many years, when eventually they decided to get married, and then have a child. But conception wasn’t easy for the couple and as the years begun to catch up with her, Beth became worried that she’d never be a mother. After tests, it was established that she was unable to carry a child, but the pair weren’t going to give up that easily. Using their considerable earnings, they managed to afford IVF treatment and Bethany’s younger sister Abigail was more than happy to be the surrogate. Being gay Abigail was unsure if she’d ever have children, but she’s remained a part of Halley’s life as a sort of secondary mother for many years and often takes part in the more motherly aspects of life that Halley’s actual mother isn’t so interested in.
Even from a young age, the child was a prodigy. Science is literally in her genes after all, in more ways than one. At six months old, her mother swears her first word was DNA, though it’s much more likely Halley had intended it to be “dinner”.
She was brought up in a central London apartment by her two parents and Aunt. Halley attended Muggle primary school, where she got excellent grades but was somewhat disliked by both students and teachers for her over-enthusiastic question answering and giving. As a result she didn't have any friends as a child, or siblings to play with, and didn't learn many subtle social things like how to share attend or know when someone doesn't want you around.
Halley had experienced some subtle signs of magic from a young age, such as levitating a book down from a shelf when she was eight, but she could never prove anything, so she rationalised in it various ways and never told her parents, since she had no evidence to support the claim. When her letter came from Hogwarts and a member of the magical world came to explain Halley's powers the entire family was surprised, her father especially so. The news has driven a rift in their once close bond.

Could you elaborate the age in which her magical abilities showed and how? Also, maybe how her muggle parents reacted to the news. Also, how did they learn of Hogwarts? Did one of the parents know they had magical blood?
