1) Give a description of your character's personality. It must be at least two paragraphs long, seven sentences each.
Hope is almost the exact opposite of what her name hints at. Cynical, Hope has little hope for the future and believes they’re heading towards eternal damnation. Or something along the lines. That isn't too say she's pessimistic, she just doesn't let herself get her hopes up that much. Such as love. In reality, Hope is nothing short of a hopeless romantic. Hope eats up every romantic comedy she can get her hands on, pours her time into the romance genre (and classic, she likes classics though she doesn't really understand them. They're long and convoluted but Hope likes them anyway). Hope is, in simple terms, a 'thirsty' type of person and finds herself drooling over everyone she sees. Hope does believe in true love, she just doesn't believe it applies to her. Hope has little hope she'll settle down in the future and believes she'll have twenty ex husbands and wives by the time she's forty. Doesn't mean she can't drool over other people's love lives. Mr. Darcy? Swoon. Hope isn't exactly one too stay silent about this either. Even if it's towards people she's not particularly attracted too and just think they're pretty, she'll say it. Even in an inappropriate situation. (Read: her teachers). Another things she does is nickname everyone, including teachers and friends. Sometimes they'll make sense. Sometimes they don't. She runs with it.
Hope isn’t a sports person. In fact, she’s quite the opposite. She’s not lazy or anything. She just...doesn’t like the adrenaline, doesn’t like how fast paced it often is. Hope can get...competitive, and it’s not a side of her that she’s proud of. Thus, she avoids sports as much as she can. It’s just not her thing, she doesn’t enjoy it. Of course, this is what she tells everyone on why she doesn’t participate in anything that involves high ground. To anyone that asks why she won’t touch a broomstick, she’ll give them a list of reasons, including that it’s dangerous and not worth her time. In truth, Hope is terrified of heights. Terrified enough that it’s debilitating, even the idea of heights is enough to make her freeze up, even start crying if the situation gets extreme. The aftermath of a childhood accident, Hope has her feet stuck to the ground. Anything else, she's not afraid of. Underwater? Pleasant. Spiders? She'll have one as a pet. Small, dark, spaces? Give her a pillow and she'll sleep. But heights? The thought alone makes her sick.
Hope is a curious person, though. To the point it's dangerous. Hope is the type of person to rush into a dangerous situation just because she thinks it's fun. Forbidden forest, filled with dangerous spiders and man hating centaurs? Sign her up. Hope wants to find a unicorn. Hope is also adventurous and the two traits are a dangerous mix. There is one thing she doesn't like doing. Is that she doesn't like doing anything by herself. She doesn't care if just one person will join her or twenty, but not on her own. Thus, she'll drag anyone and everyone into her stupid schemes and ideas. The worst thing is that she's more of a night owl than anything. Not her fault the stars are prettier than the sun. Can't even look at the sun. However, her favourite thing in the world is snow. Winter is Hope's favourite time of the year. Not Christmas but the snow. The ice skating. The sport. The snowball fights. She really does find it a magical time of the year.
Finally, Hope is creative. Too creative. A dancer, a singer and an amateur actor, Hope is interested in all three areas, something that was cultivated from the moment she expressed interest. Some could consider her mother pushing her into it, but Hope genuinely loves her work. Of course, she's had to cut down now that she decided to attend Hogwarts but she still plans to dive right back into it during the summer. Hope is an expressive person and it shows in where her love lies. In reality, though she'll say otherwise, Hope isn't really affected by the attention her new budding career brings. In fact, she finds it kind of strange and overwhelming. Hope has a tendency to be self deprecating as well. Hope is still eleven, though, and is still naive and innocent. Hope just knows what she loves and what she's destined to be.
2) Write about the history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? It must be at least three paragraphs long, seven sentences each.
Prior to WizCo, to LBC, to Minerva's Publishing House, there was the Conwyn family. Until the recent technological boom, everything technology came into fruition thanks to the Conwyn's. They've always been heavily linked to important developments in the wizarding world - the first functioning stereo, the first drafts for a flying car independent of charms, even inklings of something akin to wizarding internet, it all came from the Conwyn family. The family's name was praised and they were all but worshipped for their contributions, almost putting society on par with their muggle counterpart. Until, somewhere during the first wizarding war, they vanished. Every trace of the family had disappeared. Their mansion was razed to the ground, but no bodies were found. Their contributions were all found burnt beyond recognition, and the family library that recorded all their progress was decimated. Nobody knew what happened to the Conwyn family.
To this day, what happened to the family continues to be a secret. Very few people know, if only to ensure it doesn't happen again, thus limiting the potential of people realizing what lies just under the surface. Credited to Cornelius Conwyn, he went to great lengths to preserve his family's name and restore its previous glory. All advancements had been lost, but he sought to thrust the wizarding world into an era of progression - maybe even to the point where wizards could coexist with muggles in peace. In an effort to make his dreams come true, he sought out the perfect union; someone who shared his ambitions and rivaled his intellectual capacity. It was then he found Evelynne Riverty, a recently graduated Ravenclaw known for her ability to get things done and innate desire to achieve greatness. They dated for several years prioritizing their respective careers over their personal lives.
At the age of 27, Evelynne and Cornelius married, bringing a new definition to the Conwyn family. Cornelius, who by then had become a self-made CEO of a construction company. Conwyn Building Corp. became known around the wizarding world for its modern sense of construction. With moving buildings, infused with magic, they quickly rose through the top, encouraging Cornelius to invest in another company - one he swiftly became CEO of as well. While he didn't make as big an impact as he desired, Conwyn Building Corp put his name on the map. With these newfound opportunities, he and Evelynne moved to the United States. There, Evelynne founded Nox Broadcasting Company, or as it was more commonly referred to; NBC. It was a means to reach out to the public, which is what she ultimately wanted. Furthermore, as invested as they were, they also wanted to ensure they had children that could carry on the family name and power. That was when they conceived their three children: Cohen, Eselde and Spencer.
As a means of solidifying their stance on the wizarding world, they - and their children - carried the hyphenated version of their names: Conwyn-Riverty. Henceforth, all their efforts would be poured into creating a technological empire. While there were massive companies surging left and right, Cornelius' heritage served as an advantage, making them seem all the more appealing to potential investors. All companies under both Cornelius and Evelynne likewise became a portion of Conwyn-Riverty Enterprises. Evelynne & Cornelius served as co-CEOs and chairmen for both NBC and CBC, thus increasing their workload until they eventually stepped away to focus on expanding their reach to the wizarding world. Eventually, they decided, either Cohen and/or Eselde would take over. True to their word, years later, Cohen returned to America to oversee all operations there. In a matter of Cornelius & Evelynne's following steps, it involved one place and one place only: the United Kingdom.
For a brief amount of time, the duo contemplated purchasing the rights to the Daily Prophet, but eventually decided it didnt benefit either side. Not to mention, it limited the extent of their powers. Because of this, they focused on TV. Though the scope of their knowledge was extensive, in order to successfully create Silencio Records, they called in the help from Evelynne's brother, who was well-versed in record labels and led his own in the muggle world. Meanwhile, NBC gained an English counterpart: Lumos Broadcasting Company, or as it later became known, LBC. LBC was founded and under the control of the Fitzgerald family but the family swiftly gained control when Alistair was elected Minister for Magic. To this day, LBC & Silencio Records continue to be Evelynne & the Riverty's stronghold, whilst Cornelius has found his strengths lie on his construction empire, having worked closely with the Bostwick family to create every building currently located in Lincliff City.
Hope's mother was the youngest. Spencer Conwyn-Riverty. The youngest and the princess of the family. Adored, spoilt, Spencer was loved from the moment she took her first breath. However, she wasn't arrogant and was polite to the world around her. Though it was obvious Spencer wasn't going to be as involved in the family business like her older siblings would be, it was obvious that whatever she was going to do–she was going to do it well. Spencer didn't like America, she didn't like the people, didn't like the atmosphere. So when she was seventeen, she travelled as much as she could for the next year. It was here that she ran into Dmitri Ivanov. Spencer met him during a trip to Poland and they had a four month fling with Dmitri jumping on her holiday plans. He was another wizard and they quickly fell into love. Well, infatuation. Only one month after parting ways, Spencer found herself pregnant.
Contacting Dmitri, he instantly made his way to New York to meet Spencer. The two were somewhat happy for the next few years, introducing Hope and Megan Conwyn-Riverty to the world, just after Easter. When the girls' were two years old, Spencer and Dmitri married. It was a small, quiet ceremony but both were happy with it regardless. Spencer didn't want anything extravagant. However, everything shifted when the girls' were three years old. Dmitri was killed in a brutal car accident. It took the small family by complete surprise and whilst the twins were too young too truly understand, they knew that they wouldn't see their father again. Spencer threw herself into her work. Building up her repertoire as a director. But this wasn't enough. People kept on approaching Spencer about Dmitri and so Spencer made the executive decision to move to England. A fresh start. The twins were five years old by then and accepted the move quite easily.
The family moved into Coral gates and it was here that Hope began to meet her friends. First was the Sakellarios-Willows. In particular, the oldest Iliana. Then Adrian Bonnefort, the Michelakakis-Jo twins, and everything snowballed afterwards. Hope flocked to the group, practically falling in love with each of her friends. It was around this time that Hope began to take acting and singing classes. Her family was so set into the entertainment business that it wasn't difficult for Hope to enter this business. By the time she was six, she was acting in movies and T.V shows as a child actress. Some accused Spencer of extorting her child, but that wasn't the case. Hope wanted to do this just as much as the next child did and this didn't waver as she grew. The camera, the microphone, was where Hope was happy. Hope was homeschooled and it suited her. It was here, at the age of eight, that Hope had her first magical incident. It wasn’t pleasant one. Hope was flying high in the air, having taken her mother’s broomstick when she fell off it. Free falling through the air, Hope would have died if her stomach didn’t get caught on the wired fence. Luckily, the fence didn’t impale her and she simply dangled from the fence, wailing. Her magic kicked in, making sure she didn’t bleed out. Eventually, she was found by one of her neighbors and taken too St. Mungos. Hope was left with a nasty scar and a bitter fear of heights that still plagues her to this day. When Hope got her letter to Hogwarts, she was given a choice by her mum. To go to school, she'd have to cut down her acting. She could continue to be homeschool. Hope decided to go to Hogwarts, she wanted the experience–plus, how could she even consider leaving her stupid friends alone?
