This vote is asking the community if there should be a limit placed on how many children (characters that are under the age of nine) a user can have. Currently, there is no limit but this vote is suggesting that we limit child characters to five per user. Essentially the same amount as exotic characters. However, these characters still do not count to your character count until they turn nine years old, that policy would still remain.
Just look at the comment, particularly the second paragraph, made by Bond. In essence, you'd be allowed five characters below the age of five and characters aged above five would be counted against your character count.
This vote will be open for a week, though it might close prematurely as it would depend on how many of the community votes in the first few days. If it is a clear majority then it will be subject to be closed earlier than expected.

- imo, as of right now, there's not a lot we can do with child characters to constitute them taking up a character spot
I'd just like to know what brought this on. It's never really been an issue before, seeing as not many people develop their characters to the point they're with child. Furthermore, even if they did, it's not exactly fair to say "oh you reached 5 kids, you can't make any more", especially if that user likes developing characters from a young age/they're their characters' kids. I have around two or three pregnant characters, and another one who gave birth in the past 8 IC years. Let's say this vote passes. I've got 5 kids total (I checked), with like one more coming in the next 5 IC years. Then I won't be able to RP all the kids, and to what end? I'd already planned a bunch of stuff, as I always do with my characters, child or not. Now what? It's not really harming anyone, and I always do forums and pages on time (most the time). I guess I just don't really see the logic. - jayemalik'
I think there should be some limit because in theory a user could only RP kids and never have to get anyone sorted or conform to the policy. While I admit that's unlikely and they would have to almost intentionally be doing that having some limit makes sense. That being said I don't know if the limit of 5 is right but that can be changed later if we find it's not the right one.
To address Jaye's concerns above I think maybe it would be better to let users have 5 kids that are unsorted, but after they've had someone look at them (sorted) even the simple basic one they get at age 5 then they count as normal characters in regard to that character limit. This prevents people from having too many kid characters that they don't use or RP (which I assume is the point of this forum) and also allows users to RP how they like (if you like having 8 child characters you can...just put a few in for sorting a little earlier and they count against your normal character count instead of your kids one). If it were like that, wherein only the unsorted child characters count against the five characters limit, I'd be more likely to agree to it, and I'm sure it'd be the same for other users. - jayemalik'
