"In the community I grew up in, we all learn from a young age the traditions and history of our people. My first instance of magic as a child occurred in one of those lessons, where I managed to cause my sprig of mistletoe to sprout into a sapling on the ground. My abilities as a half-nymph manifested only a short time later."

- Were you close with your family growing up? If not-why?

"I have not yet met my father, but my relationship with my mother has always been... strained. To her, I was never really a daughter, more a weapon that would somehow protect our people from outside threats. Of course, a half-nymph is hardly an advantage, and I in particular have never been good with combat. She was rather disappointed with that."

- If you’re not native to the UK, where were you born and how did you end up in the UK?

"I grew up in an enclave of Druids in Drogheda's hinterland, in Ireland. You must understand that generally my people do not leave our enclaves, and when we do it's for the purposes of travelling to a sacred place or another enclave. I, however, chose to leave due to my mother's treatment of me. I gathered the few possessions I had, and left in the dead of night." She smiles at the memory, though she was terrified at the time. "I wanted freedom from her, yes, but I also wanted adventure. I'm sure you can understand. And adventure I got. It turned out that the Black Parade had been monitoring our clan, and when I left they tracked me down and asked me to join them. So I came to the Citadel, and I've been High Priestess ever since."

"I see little need for money beyond buying clothes and other necessities. But no living thing can survive without love of some kind - whether that's from the Great Mother, from family, or from friends. So, in short, I would choose endless love."

"I care little for trifles like that. Make-up is a new concept for me, and I would only wear jewels or gemstones if they had some practical use - which many gems do. I prefer to keep my clothing simple so as not to distract from my practices, and I see little need for shoes. A little blood will do good for the earth."

"At fifteen everyone in my particular enclave must go to the unicorns and introduce themselves to the herd that lives in the forest nearby. It's important because if you don't pass the test - if the unicorn draws your blood - you are unlikely to find the rest of your life among our people particularly enjoyable. It's a test of how pure your heart is, you see. Most can expect the unicorn to make a hasty retreat. The darkest among us can expect to be impaled. I was lucky enough to be allowed to stroke the mane of the mare I encountered."

- How do you treat the people around you?

"I try to treat everyone I encounter with the same respect I would a trusted friend. We are all cut from the same cloth, after all, and all part of the same web of life. It would be remiss of me to judge the actions of others, when I myself am not perfect. Does that make sense?"

"Yes, of course. I believe in second chances. And third, and fourth. Nobody is truly evil - mislead, yes, self-serving, yes, but ultimately redeemable if they wish to be. I would not be in the Black Parade if I did not believe it."

"Being human is being part of the great web of life, regardless of who you are and where you come from. No one is truly alone, not when you can walk the land and watch the stars, or smell the coming rain on the air. We are all interconnected on a fundamental, spiritual level."

"I have never had a formal education in the way that most people do. In the community I was raised in, we're taught whatever our elders think is important that day. I do love to learn new things, though. I'm currently learning how to use my new wand, and it's a lot different to wandless magic but fun all the same!"

"I have always been aware of my heritage. It has been a bigger aspect in my life thusfar, I think, than the same heritage is in many others like me - likely because I was born for it, not despite it as most are."

"While it is of course a shame that their knowledge and culture has mostly been lost, I do believe so. It was necessary to protect themselves from extinction, similarly to my own people's-" almost imperceptibly, she winces at her own words. They're not her people really, not any more. "I have been trained since the day I began to toddle," Nimue says, with a small smile. "My mother intended me to be a weapon, so it was very important to her that I achieve fine control of my abilities. Never mind that they are not particularly useful in any sort of combat situation - she likely would have been in a better position had she simply convinced my father to remain with her."
