The Open-Ended Questions

A. Please answer the following questions as elaborately as possible. (Remember, this part is only a requirement for your third to fifteenth character! However, if you want to have more input on where you character is sorted, then please answer #6!)

1) What would you consider to be your character's strengths, and your character's weaknesses? Elaborate on your answer.

Ollie's main strength is his resilience and willingness to do anything for those he cares about. He puts aside his own lazy tendencies, and does what has to be done. His biggest weakness is most likely the fact that he's not yet over the death of his parents, and that makes him mentally and emotionally vulnerable.

2) What goals and objectives has your character set out in their life? Is it to be successful and rich? Is it to find happiness? Why?

He's just a kid. Right now, his biggest objective is getting Emilee to let him stay up past 8:30 on a weekday.

3) What's their ideal way of spending a free day? Why so?

Oliver's ideal way of spending a free day is probably outside, playing football with Wesley, watching cartoons, or reading a good book.

4) If your character could only keep 5 possessions, what would they be? Why?

Ollie would keep his iPod (it has books and videos!) and his earphones, so that's two. He'd keep a backpack with another set of clothes and an iPod charger, because knowing his luck something bad would happen to what he's wearing and he'd run out of battery, and then he'd also keep... food, definitely. And his dad's batting gloves.

5) What one thing would your character change about the wizarding society? Why?

He doesn't know enough - or care enough, really, at this age - about society and its shortcomings.

6) What house does your character want to be in? What house does your character not want to be in? Why?

IC, he wants to be a Gryffindor, like his mother. OOC, I want him to be in Ravenclaw.

The Character's Background

1) Give a description of your character's personality. Are you noble or sneaky? Arrogant or Humble? Anything about your character that might help the Sorting Hat decide. (Don't worry, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, personality must be at least one paragraph long for the first two characters, two paragraphs long for the third to eighth characters, and three paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth!)

Honestly, Oliver is just a frustrated kid who misses his old life. He tends to be very impatient and can get snappy in those times. He gets worked up really easily and has a short temper, so his blowing outs tend to happen more often than not. He tries to get himself in check and not get so angry so fast, but he harbors so many negative emotions that it all just accumulates and becomes... well, that. He's very perceptive, however, and given how well he understands social cues, his blow-outs are more often than not warranted.
Oliver is actually a very active guy. He's always out and about. From jogging to playing all kinds of muggle (and wizarding) sports. He's actually turned towards sports to deal with his emotions. It makes sense, giving his heritage, but still, for someone his age, Oliver is a great player at a number of sports. For instance, he's a great baseball player - his new guardians even signed him up for a muggle kids' league. He's also good at quidditch, but unfortunately there's no mini league yet. All of these sports help him work his thoughts out and relax, so he's always very willing to try new things that could help him.
He's messy. Oh, man, he's the king of messes. He leaves his sports gear all around the house, he can go weeks without cleaning out his room, and his general hang-out area is completely littered. He tends to be very forgetful, so things like cleaning after himself and making sure everything is in its place kind of slips his mind. Not that it worries him much - he almost always finds what he needs. Almost. He's... chaotically organized. He comes across as a pig, but really, he's not. He doesn't try to, anyways.
His forgetfulness has actually become a bit of a problem. Unless it's related to sports or his own studies, he'll probably forget whatever it is he should probably retain. That's why you can see lists of things to do or things to get all across his arms and other parts of his body. Little notes are all around his living space, too. He has to remember somehow, and he can't do it on his own, so sticky notes it is. Sports and academics are truly the only exceptions. He's a studious kid who goes to great lengths to ensure he gets the best of grades.
He's very inquisitive and is always asking about everything. He likes learning about new things. Ollie tends to come off as uninterested most the time, but he truly isn't. With a taste for the unknown, most often you'll hear him ask why and how. There's an endless amount of things to learn, and he wants to know it all before his time is up. He may be an avid fanatic of sports, but at the end of the day, if he has a choice between reading a book and playing ball, he'll definitely read a book. A normal person lives one life, he believes, but a reader lives a thousand. This is a strange quality to have for someone who strives to be at the top of the athletic world, but it's just in his very essence to have that innate desire to learn.

2) Write about the history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? etc. (Again, you can copy this onto your character page later!) (Remember, history must at least be two paragraphs long for the first two characters, three paragraphs long for the third to eighth character, and four paragraphs long for the ninth to fifteenth character!)

First thing's first: Ollie is not a Lenton by blood. Oliver Sebastian Lenton was originally born Oliver Sebastian Matthews. He's the son of ex-convict Kedric Woodhouse (now Shane) and former Holyhead Harpies player Amelia Matthews. Honestly, his life was pretty shitty at the start. He had quite possibly the two worst parents in the world's history. He, along with his twin sister Katherine, were products of a one night stand. The pair didn't even exchange last names and they never saw each other again. However nine months later, Amelia gave birth to twins. One twin went to Kedric, while the other stayed with Amelia.
Oliver's life had a shaky beginning. Amelia wasn't the most stable of people, and didn't gain any stability until a couple months later, when she met the person who would wind up becoming Oliver's first paternal figure in his life: Lucas Ainsworth. The two were known worldwide, in both sides: the magical and muggle. The former was one of the most famous baseball players ever, whilst Amelia made it to be one of the best chasers in the world on-record. She constantly broke records, left and right, but none as prominent as the record she still holds for most scores in one game. (She scored over 72 times.) It made them a power couple, and thus Amelia was forced to straighten herself out, before it became as obvious to the public eye as it had been at the time to Amelia's best friend Emilee Lenton.
They met at a baseball match, as a matter of fact. The two were avid sports fanatics for each other's worlds, and thus had a lot to talk about when they bumped into each other. They got along right off the bat. I mean, why wouldn't they? Sports was a very big part of their lives, and they had two worlds to talk about. It seemed it went a little too well, because next thing you know, they're planning to go on a date before Amelia left New York for England. That one date led to another, and another, and another, until Lucas found himself popping the question.
Their wedding was far from small one. Their immediate family and teams were ones to attend, whether they were muggles or not, as it was officiated in New York, in a known church. Emilee Lenton (nee Stanton) was the maid of honor, whilst Mets player Alex Ruiz was the best man. It was a beautiful affair, and a quick one, too, as it seemed the two people being celebrated wanted to disappear nothing more than disappear for their honeymoon. It made sense - they'd withheld from sexual intercourse until they were married and off in their honeymoon, despite Amelia's status as a mother already. It was mostly to avoid another Oliver & Katherine situation, not that she'd admit it to anyone except her husband. It was a fact both were constantly teased for by their closest friends, but they didn't mind. They knew what they'd signed up for, and didn't regret it.
The world never found out he wasn't Lucas' kid - it was the best guarded secret his parents and their best friends had. They couldn't afford anyone finding out, for the sake of the kid. With both the muggle world and magical world's eyes on him, Ollie never really did have a chance to grow up away from prying eyes. He had anything but a normal childhood, filled with paparazzi and inevitable (though unproven) rumors of being a bastard child that would plague him even after his parents' ultimate demise. He was - and still is - one of the most anticipated people to join the sports career - both baseball and quidditch wise. He gets it, he really does, but even today he considers he has too big a pair of shoes to fill. His parents were legends. He's not. He's Oliver Lenton, the boy who likes to study just as much as he does play sports for a hobby.
Oliver Sebastian Lenton was four when he was visiting his paternal grandparents at their loft in New York. Their elevator malfunctioned with them in it, and he was forced to endure two painstakingly long hours stuck in an elevator. To this day, he still swears he saw God come and try to claim his life. Which... is a lie. He suffered - and still suffers - from claustrophobia, and he had a couple of attacks, but his mother was able to lull him into a sleep not just by employing her magic to distract him, but by singing lullabies as well. He has a fear of elevators now, and wouldn't ride one if his life depended on it.
Oliver Sebastian Lenton was seven when his parents died. They were going to a match in Massachusetts, and Lucas was accompanying Amelia. It was their thing, and it made them one of the cutest couples at the time. Whenever one had a game, so long as they didn't coincide with one of the other's games, they'd go together, for support. They apparated, and splinched. Their injuries were so deep that they unfortunately perished. They didn't last even five minutes after the accident. Oliver isn't really over their deaths yet. He doubts he ever will be. He was staying in England with his grandparents when the accident happened, so he never saw his parents again after they dropped him off. He never got to give them a proper goodbye. Though they'd had a funeral, their wounds made it so it'd have to be with a closed casket.
Ollie lived with his maternal grandparents over in Great Britain. However, they were old and couldn't really properly care for a kid. Their conditions were poor when he arrived, and only continued to deteriorate the longer the hyperactive kid lived with them. They, too, eventually died, though this time he was eight, about to turn nine. He hadn't been around this time either - he'd been out on a baseball game and when he'd returned their loft was swarming with policemen and paramedics. By then, they were long dead. He regrets going to that one game ever since, even claims he hates himself for it. His emotional instability brought on his first sign of magic, making mirrors in their small home explode. Magical authorities had to take over the case, obliviate the muggles that lived nearby, and take him to someone trustable; someone with magic.
Oliver Sebastian Lenton was freshly nine when he moved in with the Lentons and took on their last name. Being an Ainsworth held too many painful memories; he wanted to avoid facing constant depression every time he heard the name and was reminded of the times he spent with his parents and grandparents. Emilee and Andy - his new guardians - understood. They sought to make him feel comfortable and wanted. Ollie's life has never been easy, and he doubts it ever will. He has big shoes to fill, with both muggle and magical folk turning their attention to him. Does he know the truth behind his parentage? No, not yet. Will it destroy him when he finds out? Who knows.

A. This is my first character.

They're in my USM list, but I think it's somewhere around 7/2? Or 8/2.
