Please Note: You can write either the first or second question in a bullet point form. However, please remember only one of them can be in that form. The other must be in full sentences and meet the required length.
1) Give a description of your character's personality. It must be at least seven sentences.
Isabela is her mothers' daughter. If you didn't know her mothers, you'd think it's cute. If you knew her mothers, you may want to develop thicker skin.
On the surface, Isabela is sugary syrup sweet. Isabela is exactly what the people would expect from the daughter of the people's princess. She has angelic features reminiscent of her mother Bai and a pleasant aura like her mother Helena. Helena has had years of mastery over her public image and it's clear that she has passed down this knowledge onto Isabela. She smiles and bows and curtsies at the perfect moments. Her voice is warm and melodic and her words are as comforting as they come. Isabela is very much an enthusiastic conversation partner in public, knowing just when to nod and smile and to ask questions to keep the conversation going. She is able to make people feel like she is wholly interested in whatever they are talking about, even when she isn't.
She shares Helena's love for the arts, though she eventually branched out to dancing. She started off with ballet and then slowly checked off each major European dance style as she aged. And it's not limited to the dances that royalty gravitate to, either. With parents who greatly encouraged her to stay in touch with her heritage, Isabela is also wonderfully proficient in at least five of the hyangak jeongjae (indigenous Korean court dances) and a selection of Korean folk dances.
On the surface, Isabela is sweet, social, and a beloved dancer. Below the surface and within the privacy and comfort of the company of her own family, Isabela proves to be just a little rougher and a mischievous little pixie.
The first thing the family knows about Isabela is that her general behaviour is a bit... wonky. For most people at least. She shows her care and affection through unorthodox means. The more nonchalant and crass she is, the deeper her affection. She receives secrets and confessions with a wave of her hand and a quick trip to the kitchens for a snack. She'll even bring one for the other person. (She learned apparition once and has been an absolute terror with it.) She comforts people with a "sorrows, sorrows, prayers" and protects delicate information with an "Oops, IDK that, I'm female <3". Almost all of her advice is along the lines of "it's not about what you can do to the patriarchy, it's about what the patriarchy can do for you". The genteel princess is in reality a very lax girl who has conveniently skipped class when they were discussing proper social cues and rules.
2) Write about the history of your character. How did they grow up? Is there an incident that made them the way they are? It must be at least two paragraphs long, seven sentences each.
It's hard to believe that Isabela isn't the biological child of the Albemarle ducal couple, because she isn't. She's adopted and no one really knows where she came from besides her mothers. Helena has confided in her most trusted people that she found Isabela in a child trafficking ring, one of the few children whose biological family Helena wasn't able to track down. Logically, Helena should've given Isabela up to the proper authorities but there was something about the girl that made Helena want to keep her. Isabela seemed to want to stay with Helena as well. Both parties wanted it, so it happened. Isabela, then a nameless girl, became Princess Isabela Leonore Marina Adrienne Astrid Selene Wendy of the United Kingdom. A mouthful for a name, like mother like daughter.
Except no one else aside from a few really knew Isabela was a princess, or that she was a new member of the royal family. By the time Helena had adopted Isabela, Helena hadn't been in contact with her family for years. Only her mother, Maud, ever knew where the princess was and even then she was only given the vaguest of details and was asked to keep it a secret. Helena and Isabela kept on moving around for a while especially after Helena had stoked the ire of a powerful mafia. Isabela never knew of a permanent home early on. All she knew is that home is wherever her mum is.
They eventually settled in the Bahamas when Helena met and got together with Bai Wu, whom she met at a high level function and bonded over how boring it was. Bai got into the business Helena was in pretty smoothly and soon the pair became the new nightmare of several shady businesses all across the continent. Isabela grew to love Bai-mama/eomma and soon her little family was complete. She even got a new name with it, Feiyan (or Biyeon, in Isabela's native Korean). Once Helena and Bai's dealings calmed down enough that they don't need to move around so much anymore, the family settled in a quiet corner in the Bahamas. The question of if Isabela was Magic was answered there, too, when Isabela made her little finger paintings move in thin air at age 7.
Isabela was introduced to Helena's family as well as the country at the age of 8, when Helena finally made the decision to go home. Isabela never paid too much attention to what was happening around her. She was simply very happy to have more space to play around. She didn't care for her new title either (Princess Isabela of Albemarle), all she cared about were her mothers and her art.
As it turns out, Isabela had a lot of aunts and uncles, as well as cousins. It was difficult for Isabela to wrap her head around so she wasn't as active in the family life as she should. Sure, it made her seem like a little outsider but she already was with how different she looked from them. It doesn't really bother her and she wasn't afraid to push back if any of them ever tried. Thankfully most of them had some decorum so no one really tried to bother her.
Isabela's entry to Hogwarts was simply expected. She got sorted into Slytherin, Bai's House, and had a relatively uneventful 4 years there before her mothers decided to let her finish her schooling further away at the East Asian School of Magic. Isabela graduated at the age of seventeen and has now returned to the UK, eager to pursue her own side-career in the field of dance.
