{{JVDH|"Welcome everybody to Mythology. Usually, this class would be restricted to third years and upwards but I've expanded it to include the first two years as well. irst, I will tell you the structure which will follow you all the way through too your seventh year, if you decide to continue it. For the first three weeks, we’re focussing on Greek mythology and culture, the next two will be Roman, the next will be Egyptian. Of course, your final week will be your exams. For the first three weeks, we’re focussing on Greek mythology and culture, the next two will be Roman, the next will be Egyptian. Of course, your final week will be your exams. I will dedicate one week to different mythologies and cultures across the world. However, we do have limited time so I've narrowed it down to a select cultures in order to go into further depth. Please interrupt me any time if you have any questions."}}

===First Years===

{{JVDH|Etta almost stumbled into the room, almost a second late and hurried to the front. Of course she was running late. At least it was the first years. Surely they wouldn’t judge her so harshly. “Hello class, welcome to your first class of Mythology, oh and welcome to Hogwarts,” she said, adding on the last bit as an afterthought. She was standing at the front, appearing as if she was trying to catch her breath (she definitely, absolutely, did not run. Absolutely not.) “I’m Etta and I will be your teacher for the upcoming year and I am excited to teach you. If you need me then just look for my office.” Etta paused. If they could find it. Whatever. They’ll find their way eventually. Did they give the first years a map? Surely. “Now, diving right into the class. Your first year will centre around the gods and goddesses, with the purpose of identifying them and any myths surrounding them. This will be important as they often make recurring appearances throughout the different aspects of most cultures and will provide the bedrock for your studies. However, to make sure you’re all aware of what we’re studying. Can anyone tell me what mythology means? Such as the etymology of the word and other things.” }}

{{Gideon2|time=05:05, January 28, 2019 (UTC)|text= This teacher seemed nice enough. That was good. Plus, if Gideon's going to have to be learning about something, gods and goddesses were pretty lit. This class would be fine. Eh, at least he hoped. He didn't answer the question, knowing sort of what mythology was, but couldn't explain its etymology. Just to speak, he even tried to think of a witty comment, but nothing of the sort came to mind.}}

{{Megan|time=05:05, January 28, 2019 (UTC)|text= Although Megan's paying attention, her head's staring more at the little doodles she was drawing in her journal, briefly turning back up at the question. "Um, well, logy is like 'the study of'," she says, quietly but still loud enough for the teacher to hear. "And mytho is... Uh, myth?"}}

{{IlianaSW2|time=12:29, January 28, 2019 (UTC)|Iliana= "Do we have, like, a walking, living dictionary in here that can answer that?" Iliana looks towards Elizabeth on purpose, giving her a ''please answer'' look. She figured this would be up her lane.}}

{{Adrien|time=20:15, January 28, 2019 (UTC)|text=He raised his hand hesitantly, "Doesn't it mean a story? Or something used to explain a phenomenon that couldn't be explained by our early ancestors?"}}

{{LanceWB|time=20:15, January 28, 2019 (UTC)|text=''Wow, Adrien was really smart.'' He scribbled that note in his notebook, wanting to make sure he remembered that.}}

{{ValSW|time=03:24, January 29, 2019 (UTC)|Valeriya="Different cultures have different stories too," Valeriya added on, "the Aztecs are my favourite."}}{{JVDH|Etta nodded as she listened to the different answers being given. "All valid answers and very well correct. It is the study of different culture's mythology or folklore that they used to explain the world around them. Today, we're focussing on the Greek myths. Or the gods, in particular. Can anyone tell me the structure of the Greek deities? This does include the location of which they rule from. If you can also give me the ruling deity and his queen, there might be a few chocolates up for grabs.”|01:55, February 7, 2019 (UTC)}}

===Second years===

{{JVDH|Etta was sitting on the desk, as she often usually does, her leg crossed over the other as she waited for students to file in. “Welcome back to another year at Hogwarts. I’m Etta and I hope you enjoyed your summer and ready for another year of learning. My office is just down the hall so please don’t hesitate, my door is always open for anything you need, it doesn’t have to be academic based. Now, too jump right back into it. Last week we talked about the children of Kronos and Rhea and the circumstances of their birth and rise to power. Today, we’ll be discussing the rest of the main Olympians. Zeus’ and Hera’s children, including Aphrodite. In regards to Aphrodite, can anyone tell me who her parents were and how she was born?” }}

{{Bond_em7|time=18:52, February 4, 2019 (UTC)|Aria=She'd frown...hadn't the Professor just said they were discussing the children of Zeus and Hera? "Wouldn't that make her parent's...Zeus and Hera?"}}{{JVDH|"Not exactly. In fact, Aphrodite is considered to be older than both. She was born when the titan Kronos, the father of Zeus and Hera, defeated his own father Uranus. The real answer is that Aphrodite doesn't have parents. She arose from the sea foam that was created when Uranus was thrown into the sea. However, there are some that believe she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione but it is the former that is more widely believed. Here, can you tell me who she's the goddess of?"}}

===Third Year===

{{JVDH|Chocolate was going to be the end of Etta and she knew it. Also–the chocolates she was eating was ''meant'' to be for the students. But...who could blame her, honestly. “Good morning,” she said as she flicked her wand to send papers flying to each characters desk. “Welcome to your third year in Mythology. I’m Etta as most of you already know and I will be your professor–obviously. As you should know by now, we’ll be starting with Greece before moving into Roman and Egyptian. Thus, we begin with Greece. In particular, the Amazonians and the hunt. Today we’ll focus on the Amazonians. The Amazonians were a race of women who were initially thought to reside in the black sea. There are many myths that feature the Amazons and the women themselves. Does anyone know of any of these myths, or any heroes who interacted with them?”}}

{{Scarlett|She'd normally start off with the now traditional Van Der Hoe joke, but Mythology seems like a pretty interesting class, so she limits the joking to writing ''the Hoe is back'' (which is uninspired, but she can't think of a pun right now), making sure the professor is looking the other way and slipping it to the student next to her. Then, she raises her hand. "If I recall correctly, one of Hercules' labours was to steal the Amazonian Queen's... um... ''girdle''."|}}{{JVDH|"Very good, Ms. Irvine, five points," Etta said carefully, her eyes falling onto the third year, just missing the passing of the note. "Can you recall any more detail though?"}}

===Fourth Years===

{{JVDH|“Okay, fourth years,” she muttered as Etta walked into the room, only a minute or two late, books floating behind her. Though they were really following the tip of Etta’s wand which was pointed in the air, held loosely by Etta. She looked a bit lost, her hair tied back into a loose ponytail. “I’m Professor Van Der Hoek, though Etta will also do well, and I am to help you throughout, though I will not do your work for you. That is up to you. I’ll meet you halfway. Now, the topic of today is the minotaur and the labyrinth. This story is set primarily in Crete, an Island south of Greece that had its own culture and history, though we don’t know much because a lot of their settlements and palaces were ransacked and destroyed by the sea people. Can anyone tell me the hero who this myth focuses on?”}}

{{PJW|time=05:17, January 28, 2019 (UTC)|text= Guess some could say Juliet knew a good amount of Mythology. The topic was interesting, and she's read a good amount of books based around the subject, as well as the actual myths themselves. And, well, mythology relating to Ancient Greece was her strong suit. She had read the myth Etta was talking about, too. "Theseus, I think?" she answers in a questionable tone, although she was 98% sure she was correct.}}{{WinifredT|time=18:47, February 4, 2019 (UTC)|Frannie= The answer, from what she has deduced, is correct, so she reserves herself to sitting quietly at her desk, one leg crossed over the other daintily as she takes note of every word the professor utters.}}{{JVDH|"Correct," she said with a smile, "five points too Hufflepuff. Theseus is the main hero of this story, known for coming face to face with the infamous Minatour. The minatour was the son of Pasiphae, wife of King Minos–who I'm sure might sound familiar from another myth–and a bull sent by Zeus. Thus, he was half man half bull and was locked away by Minos in a Labyrinth. Now, the myth begins by the death of Androgeus, son of Pasiphae and Minos, who was killed in the Panathenaic Games in Athens. Does anyone know how Minos punished Athens for the death of his son? The muggle book 'hunger games' that was popular a few decades ago did take inspiration from this punishment, if that is of any help."}}

Mythosclass

Unlike your traditional Hogwarts classroom, Professor Altair has charmed this room to resemble an older Americanized University lecture hall. The room is relatively dark with only one window on either side of the room being the only real sources of bright light despite the lit candles scattered along the floors and aisles and tucked into the walls. Be wary; voices can carry to the front even from the back of the room.
