"Welcome everybody to Mythology. Usually, this class would be restricted to third years and upwards but I've expanded it to include the first two years as well. irst, I will tell you the structure which will follow you all the way through too your seventh year, if you decide to continue it. For the first three weeks, we’re focussing on Greek mythology and culture, the next two will be Roman, the next will be Egyptian. Of course, your final week will be your exams. Now, the structure of the class will follow you all the way through too your seventh year, if you decide to continue it. For the first three weeks, we’re focussing on Greek mythology and culture, the next two will be Roman, the next will be Egyptian. Of course, your final week will be your exams. I will dedicate one week to different mythologies and cultures across the world. However, we do have limited time so I've narrowed it down to a select cultures in order to go into further depth. Please interrupt me any time if you have any questions."

Etta almost stumbled into the room, almost a second late and hurried to the front. Of course she was running late. At least it was the first years. Surely they wouldn’t judge her so harshly. “Hello class, welcome to your first class of Mythology, oh and welcome to Hogwarts,” she said, adding on the last bit as an afterthought. She was standing at the front, appearing as if she was trying to catch her breath (she definitely, absolutely, did not run. Absolutely not.) “I’m Etta and I will be your teacher for the upcoming year and I am excited to teach you. If you need me then just look for my office.” Etta paused. If they could find it. Whatever. They’ll find their way eventually. Did they give the first years a map? Surely. “Now, diving right into the class. Your first year will centre around the gods and goddesses, with the purpose of identifying them and any myths surrounding them. This will be important as they often make recurring appearances throughout the different aspects of most cultures and will provide the bedrock for your studies. However, to make sure you’re all aware of what we’re studying. Can anyone tell me what mythology means? Such as the etymology of the word and other things.”

Etta was sitting on the desk, as she often usually does, her leg crossed over the other as she waited for students to file in. “Welcome back to another year at Hogwarts. I’m Etta and I hope you enjoyed your summer and ready for another year of learning. My office is just down the hall so please don’t hesitate, my door is always open for anything you need, it doesn’t have to be academic based. Now, too jump right back into it. Last week we talked about the children of Kronos and Rhea and the circumstances of their birth and rise to power. Today, we’ll be discussing the rest of the main Olympians. Zeus’ and Hera’s children, including Aphrodite. In regards to Aphrodite, can anyone tell me who her parents were and how she was born?”

Chocolate was going to be the end of Etta and she knew it. Also–the chocolates she was eating was ‘’meant’’ to be for the students. But...who could blame her, honestly. “Good morning,” she said as she flicked her wand to send papers flying to each characters desk. “Welcome to your third year in Mythology. I’m Etta as most of you already know and I will be your professor–obviously. As you should know by now, we’ll be starting with Greece before moving into Roman and Egyptian. Thus, we begin with Greece. In particular, the Amazonians and the hunt. Today we’ll focus on the Amazonians. The Amazonians were a race of women who were initially thought to reside in the black sea. There are many myths that feature the Amazons and the women themselves. Does anyone know of any of these myths, or any heroes who interacted with them?”

“Okay, fourth years,” she muttered as Etta walked into the room, only a minute or two late, books floating behind her. Though they were really following the tip of Etta’s wand which was pointed in the air, held loosely by Etta. She looked a bit lost, her hair tied back into a loose ponytail. “I’m Professor Van Der Hoek, though Etta will also do well, and I am to help you throughout, though I will not do your work for you. That is up to you. I’ll meet you halfway. Now, the topic of today is the minotaur and the labyrinth. This story is set primarily in Crete, an Island south of Greece that had its own culture and history, though we don’t know much because a lot of their settlements and palaces were ransacked and destroyed by the sea people. Can anyone tell me the hero who this myth focuses on?”
