Gianni's parents are David Howardsen, a muggle Brazilian Jiu jitsu instructor and former UFC fighter and Zanah Fell, an american No Maj. When his father retired from his fighting career, he decided to move back to London and open up an academy. Zanah followed him and 6 months later, Gianni was born.
Gianni"s early memories of his mother were those of a gentle, caring woman. His father was also caring but in a different way. Ever since he could walk, he started teaching him BJJ ( Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and instilled in him early on, the values of hard work. Because his mother was working a 9-5 job at an accounting firm, Gianni was spending his day with his father at the gym. The first sign of his magical abilities came when he was 7 years old. He was sparring with a boy his age while his father was watching. The other boy ended up taking his back and choking him. Gianni saw his father watching him and as he was blacking out he was thinking " I must get out, he is watching." Next thing he knew, he had ended up on his opponent's back choking him. The other boy tapped, admitting defeat and Gianni looked up to his father, to see him looking at him with absolute surprise. When the class was over, he took him aside " For a second, it was like you disappeared into thin air"
Father and son returned home to find Zanah talking with a man in a huge black green coat. He introduced himself as Zachariah Gelard and explained to Gianni's parents about the Magical World and Gianni's part in it. What Gianni remembers to this day, was the morose look on his mother's face. That night he dreamt (or he thinks he did) that he was at his bedside staring at him and whispering "Just like him" over and over again. The next morning Gianni woke up to the smell of pancakes, his favourite breakfast. His mother bade him farewell as he and his father were going to the gym. That was the last time she saw her. Father and son returned home later that day to find it emptied of her most precious belongings. A note was left at the table addressed to his father. David read it and tears started streaming fron his eyes. He never showed Gianni the contents of the letter.
For the next 4 months his father was a shadow. He spent his days buried in his work while Gianni stayed with Mirra, his grandmother. After school he would go to his father"s academy and train dilligently. Slowly but steadily his father's heart was healed and he became his usual cheeful self again. Even though, he was young, that betrayal stayed in Gianni's heart. His mother had abandoned him.
Gianni is at his core a stubborn, hardworking young man. Due to his hard childhood, he is hesitant to open himself to peole because he is afraid they will hurt him when they inevitably leave. He doesn't have many friends but those that are his friends, know that he will do anything for them.He loves his father and his grandmother, the 2 people that are still there for him. Also, his study of Martial Arts, has made him disciplined like no other boy his age.
He is a jock to his core. He loves sports and his dream is to become a brazilian jiu jitsu champion like his father. He understands though that even in sports, success comes from hardwork and studying. For that reason, when he is at school he focuses on his studies and he always trains at his free time
