Welcome to the Great Hall, where meals are served to the students three times a day. The Great Hall (only on the occasion), however, may be used as a "sanctuary" in the event of potential harm that could transpire against the student body. Meals are magically spelled by house elves to appear on the four long tables and the sorting ceremony is held here at the start of each school year. The theme and decor of the Great Hall has been known to change in accordance to Quidditch match wins and holidays such as Halloween and Christmas.

"Hello everyone, and welcome to a new year here at Hogwarts! I would also like to give a very special warm welcome to all the first years who are starting a new journey here on this very day. To those who are returning students, may you continue to strive for greatness and push yourself further in academics and extra curricular activities at our amazing academy! Many new clubs are being organized and of course our annual Hogwarts Quidditch Cup is once again up for grabs. So with all the being said this will hopefully shape up to be quite the memorable and exciting year for everyone involved!" Silas said with a pause, looking out at all the students and staff alike. "And with that, may the opening feast commence!" With a brave smile, Silas raised his goblet to form a large cheers before lowering it to his lips.

Celeste was sitting at the teacher's table, finishing off a very late breakfast. It was nearly midday on a Saturday and people were walking in for lunch. Not that Celeste cared, though. She kept on spooning the eggs into her mouth, staring into the distance. She could be reading a book but she didn't have the effort to do so. Not as if there was anyone to talk too. Nor did she really want to talk to any of them. Most of them had taught her years ago and she felt awkward. No matter how nice Professor Van Der Hoek was, she refused to call the woman Etta.

Esme walked along a few others going to eat lunch, using this lunch break as an excuse to postpone speaking with one of her students. It was a complaint about their last quiz grade, and, honestly, Esme wasn't in the mood to deal with that at the moment. Correction. Esme was never in the mood to deal with that. Was becoming a teacher the best choice ever? Possibly not. Lunch was a good choice though, realizing how hungry she is when walking inside the great hall. Eyeing the teacher's table, the only seat to be taken was by a fairly recognizable face. It was a funny coincidence that the two former classmates began teaching during the same year, though Esme had been informed of Celeste trying to become a professor at Hogwarts prior to school opening. She wasn't entirely sure where the two stood, but she didn't see any reason why they couldn't have a nice and civil conversation on school grounds. Walking over to the seat across Celeste's, her first glance goes to the Charms professor, but then eventually looks down to see her plate. "A little late for breakfast, isn't it?" she joked light-heartedly, truthfully not caring all that much.

Celeste was kind of aware Esme was teaching there as well. However, she had been in denial and thought she imagined seeing the girl in the train a couple of weeks before. "Only if you pay attention to the clock," Celeste responded. "Breakfast is the superior meal, anyway." Celeste knew Esme didn't really care about Celeste's food choices but she was stubborn enough to respond.
