The head dormitories are located in one of the many towers. It provides a living area for the two head students that are chosen each year from the student body. It's lavish and expansive and is one of the benefits of accepting the responsibilities that come with the positions. Outside of the large living room, there is a hallway that leads to two different rooms–the bedrooms, both equipped with private bathrooms and walk in cupboards.
Only those with permission by the head boy and girl can enter the dormitories as it is protected by a magical barrier. Permission that can be rescinded at any moment. Often, the heads invite students (regardless of their house) inside to help them with homework or other types of services. Other times, they provide permission to friends. Note, that if the faculty believe a head student is abusing the living area (such as private parties) then their position may come under question. The private dormitories are a privilege, not a right.
All students will turn their lights out and go to sleep at midnight, as they may be patrolling the corridors until then. Any student caught out of bed who does not have a convincing reason will be landed in detention, though Heads usually have a good reason.
She'd shrug. "I miss you. I miss the hustle and bustle of the Common room and dorms. This place is nice but almost...too quiet most of the time." She'd frown. "Besides I'm not really sure how to treat my new roommate and it's...awkward sometimes."
She'd sit down too, shaking her head. "No...but you'd think the Head Boy would be a boy and...I think she's a girl." She'd frown. "At least she seems to have female anatomy. She...He...they said they would "prefer Head student" rather than "Head Boy"." She'd frown. "Kai's nice enough but it's just throwing me off a bit. I don't know if it's a magical thing like some sort of metamorphmagi or shapeshifter or what..."
She'd nod. "Sure...but then should they be given the Head Boy title when there's other boys that it could have been given to?" She'd sigh. "I guess I'm just not used to using...gender neutral pronouns and it feels a bit weird especially since I don't want to offend her...er...them."
She relaxed a bit, having been afraid that Aria was going to be offended by Kai. "Maybe Kai applied for Head Boy, got Head Boy but prefers to use Head Student. Why is that so bad?" She paused. "Pronouns can be tricky when you're first getting used to doing it. So long as you aren't doing anything deliberately or maliciously then I'm sure they won't be offended. If you're making an effort to use their pronouns, that's what counts."
She'd shake her head, her tone confessional. "I guess...maybe I'm just sad it's not Phillip." She'd sigh. "Yeah, I don't know Kai very well but sh...they seem pretty laid back." She'd shake her head again. "Anyway, how are things going with you?"
She rolled her eyes at Aria's clear deflect. "See, I told you they didn't take Prefect from you because you hadn't earned it last year. They probably just wanted to see how you'd handle a different leadership position so that you could show you could handle Head Girl this year."
"Plus food and such while we're there..." she bit her lip. Maybe money was no object to Aria, but it was for Noelani. And while the trip sounded like a dream... it also sounded like it would stay that way. A dream.
She'd come in and look around, still mostly amazed she'd actually been chosen as Head Girl, especially at her age. She missed Noelani and wished she could still be in the Gryffindor dorms but...this place was really cool and she'd be able to help students from other Houses study and learn in here...maybe even move her study group up to here rather than in the library.

They can't help but whistle softly when they walk through the door. They'd thought the Prefects' Bathroom was nice, but this? This was on its own level entirely. There was more than enough space just in the living room area for study groups, or team building activities, maybe even a quiet post-NEWTs celebration, if no one objects. "Hey, Aria," they call out, noticing their counterpart also giving the place a look-over. "It's nice, right?"
