Lena and Iliana
「 Valentina Willow 」Ravenclaw Alumna
40
Witch
Former Auror
Single
Lena sat anxiously in her wife's office, left leg crossed over her right, fiddling anxiously with the zip of her jacket (it's a tic she's picked up, to help her cope with the uncertainty of rebuilding the relations she had pre-disappearance.) What if her daughter held any resentment for her vanishing, even if it wasn't Lena's fault? Iliana didn't seem like she would, but then again, what would she know? Lena knew better than anyone how four years could change a person — she was certainly different in some ways.

The breath was stolen from Lena's body as the figure of her daughter appeared in the doorway — her mouth was dry, and she needed to grip the chair's armrests to steady herself. Iliana had grown so much in the years she had been gone; she'd noted every birthday, every Christmas, every holiday she'd missed. "воробушек," she breathed. "You — you've grown so much, I — didn't think I'd get to see any of this. God, what am I doing, that's not the kind of thing you want to hear, I'm sorry, I — I'm sorry that...that getting back was out of my hands for so long."

It felt like being punched in the gut, and that showed in the twist of her mouth for the briefest moment before she steadied herself — this reaction could be expected, it had been four years, it would be hard to embrace a sudden re-arrival. "I'm very much not dead," she said patiently, instead, "though I understand why you think that, because everyone did." Her hand ran through her hair, as she tried to settle her anxiety. "I owe you an explanation, I know — but first, if you want to scream at me, or something, you're within your rights to."

The hardest question first — that was very much her daughter, through and through. "In the middle of Siberia," she replied as evenly as she could, "after the mission I was on went very badly wrong; apparently, the trust in the Russian Auror Office to warn me of all developments was...misplaced. I'll not mention the details, because they're not pleasant to hear or to relive, but...what I will say is that I absolutely did my best to come home to you, to Val, and the triplets — to your mother, too." Lena bit her lip, trying to rein in raw emotion that threatened to overwhelm her. "I really did, and I love you, and I'm so sorry it couldn't be faster."

"That's hard, I'm naturally a sharer," a faint smile twitched at her lips, "but I can tell you exactly what happened when you and Val were born. She asked me if I could wait five more days so that she could do you two's birthdays, and mine, on the same day. I told her she could fuck right off."

The relief on Lena's face was written plain as day. "Yeah," she nodded, her smile soft and apologetic. "I'm not going back to the Auror Office — not ever. I'm not risking anything happening again."

Etta
「 Malia Sakellarios 」head of ravenclaw • charms professor
It felt odd, certainly, knowing she was back at Hogwarts. As a professor, no less, who carried the title of Head of House. Whilst she harbored some resentment over being deprived of the opportunity to be Head for Gryffindor - her house during her time at the school - she was still grateful for the opportunity. (And the raise that came with it.) She had rearranged the office a little since her arrival, but she had to admit, she liked how the previous Head had had it, so for the most part, it was intact. As she sat at her desk, writing out the last of her lesson plans for the semester, she couldn't help but wonder how things were faring with her girls.

「 Etta Sakellarios 」Headmistress • The Danish puzzler
Etta was so, so, so, so use to this office being her office that she completely forgot she had moved out to another office. It was after the feast and Etta was practically exhausted, ready to collapse into bed and sleep the next century away. When she pushed the door open and her eyes hit Malia, Etta had to stop herself from screaming. It took a moment of standing there, watching Malia with wide eyes and a pale face, to realise Etta's mistake and every part of her wanted to slam the door shut and walk away and never face Malia again out of simple embarrassment. "Professor Sakellarios," she said, her hand awkwardly fiddling with the knob of the door. "How are you going? I'm just...checking in on the head of houses." Plausible, definitely plausible. Briefly, her eyes looked around the office, her lips biting down on her lips. It hadn't been changed a lot but she could still see some differences.
