History
Her father, Peteris Zariņš, is a muggle-born Latvian. He had attended Durmstrang for his first three years of schooling, but transferred to Hogwarts due to the endless riducule he recieved for his blood status. Once he turned 19 years old, he moved overseas to Saskatchewan, Canada to the capitol of Regina. Four years later, he met the love of his life, Olivia Lizotte, and they had two non-identical twins - Lance and Leto. Apparently they had planned to name one of them Ivy if they turned out to be a girls... Perhaps that's why her dad always looks at her with sad eyes?
Of course, it didn't pan out. After two years of growing apart and with the stress of the young couple trying to care for two babies, they broke it off. Peteris, who by then went by Peter, won custody and returned home.
A year later, he met her mother, Daina, a kind, sympathetic woman. She fell for him, and he would like to say the same. They wed, and shortly thereafter, had Ivy.
Ivy could tell her father was still depressed, always falling quiet and retreating back into himself whenever he was reminded of Olivia. She grew to hate silence. It always meant the same thing - a distant expression and frowns. All because she was there.
Due to his distaste of Durmstrang, he sent her and the boys to Hogwarts, even though geographically it was on the other side of Europe.
Personality
In truth, Ivy despises silences or lulls in conversation, and so she is considered a chatter-box, motor-mouth, etc. often spitting out whatever comes to mind. While she may say what comes to mind, she has a servere case of staircase wit - when someone insults her, her combacks never suffice.
She is extremely intuitive, finding it very simple to pick apart someone's facial expression, whether or not the're lying and such, although she never knows what to do with the information once she has it. Instead, she is easily influenced by the feeling in the air. Learning, particularly about animals and history, fascinates her, although she prefers hands on exprience as opposed to a book.
