Jackhome

This cozy, rustic flat in Lincliff Harbour is home to magical veterinarian Jack Thorne and her pygmy dragon, Nescafé. Though the flat is right on the pier and has a stunning view at night, it is on the...shadier side of the harbour, and the lack of foot traffic and lighting does make the area popular in less-than-legal circles. Visitors are advised to watch their backs and keep their noses out of any business they may see going on in the vicinity.

The flat came mostly furnished, and Jack has left most of the original décor and furniture. The rustic boathouse look has grown on her, though she worries sometimes that the fish mounted over the sink tries to make conversation with her - but that might just be the fairy dust, who knows. In recent months, she's made a few changes to make the place safer and easier to get around in: sharp corners have been padded, all the doorknobs are now levers, rugs have been exiled to the space behind the sofa, and the splashes of brightly-colored décor she's so fond of have all been removed.

Though it's clear the flat is lived in - the fridge is somewhat stocked, there are dishes in the drainer, the bed is always unmade - it sits empty for days or sometimes weeks at a time while Jack is out of the country. Nescafé travels with Jack on longer trips, but it's not unusual for him to spend a few days on his own, cared for by Jack's homemade, custom-charmed autofeeding and entertainment system that includes flying meat bits and old, defunct snitches. Though he's small enough to sit comfortably in a standard bowl, Nescafé is a fast flier and has sharp teeth and claws, and has been known to dive-bomb unwelcome or unsavory guests, so it's best to bring a treat as a bribe.
