Jena Francesca Carlson entered the world in the midst of one of the hottest summers Texas had experienced in a long time. Her mother, Evony, had been in labor with their youngest and only daughter for almost 36 hours, with five-year-old Matthew and seven-year-old William with their father, Major Aiden Carlson at her bedside. Finally having a daughter raised the overprotective instincts in Aiden, and those were only magnified by the several health scares she had during her first few days of life. He swore to himself that he would be by her side, and got Matthew and William to swear to watch their sister no matter what if Aidan wasn't around.
Jena grew up trying to chase after Matthew and William, and grew in leaps and bounds everyday. When she was around, it was almost impossible to stay serious because her expression was just so cheerful and adorable. She started school at the age of five, entering kindergarten, before the Carlson family moved to Oregon. But that wouldn't be their only move, and Jena basically turned from a public school student to a homeschooled kid alongside her five-year-older and seven-year-older brothers. Despite this, she thrived in the environment and had many more ways to try out new things than most children.
When she was seven, something strange happened... and her magic manifested. It was a subtle sign of magic, sending Matthew tripping over nothing and falling face-first into a puddle of mud when he wouldn't leave her alone, but confusing the family nonetheless. When an Ilvermorny representive came and explained, that soothed the Carlson parents, but still the children were on edge. What if Jena would be taken away from them? Prohibited from ever seeing her family again? They didn't know what to expect, but also the PCS orders to England brought a new wave of relaxation and excitement. The three kids hadn't gone outside the contential US ever, and this was a chance to explore new surroundings and see all the history that England and Scotland hosted.
Jena was turning eleven when she moved to England, however William stayed behind because he had gotten accepted into West Point, so it was now just her and Matthew and their parents exploring the history of England. However, that summer, the year of 2034, would be the last normal summer. One late night in the summer, under the cold glare of a full moon, Matthew and Jena were out messing around in the woods by their house, and stumbled across a werewolf. The creature lunged, killing Matthew who had thrown himself in front of Jena, and biting Jena directly on her side. The girl passed out, and woke up in a hospital two weeks later.
After hearing about Matthew's death protecting her, and the news that she was now cursed to be a werewolf, the girl changed completely. She is entering her first year this term, and is still struggling with coming to terms about her new status. But one thing is for certain: Jena is no longer normal.
