Ophelia is pretty sure the only reason her dad is letting her lounge around inside Juicebox is because it's a very slow day. Not surprising, considering it's early in the morning, but her point still stands; she's here, and that's a rare achievement. She's currently tapping away at the keyboard of her laptop furiously, wanting to finish the 13th chapter of the novel she's writing before her dad decides to disturb her peace. Should be any minute now, knowing her.

Emilienne Sabine,
Owner, Juicebox Lincliff and Bordeaux
Today is verging on becoming a late night for her - relatively speaking, as she usually goes to bed quite early in the morning. There were a few interviews scheduled for this morning; two people had already cancelled and the third...who knew, at this point. Em had wiped down the bar four times and checked all the dishes were clean - again, as though dirty dishes were going to magically appear, trying to keep herself busy so Ophelia can work on her things in peace. Maybe another cup of coffee was due...and maybe a snack as well, she decides, and makes her way over to Ophelia for a very important interruption. "Do you want a coffee, chérie? Something to eat?" she asks

Em is well-meaning, but Ophelia can't help but sigh. It isn't out of irritation, per se. Just... exasperation. That's a lot better, right? She levels her a frustrated look and begins to gesture around the air, a loud sizzling noise indicating she's writing something on air. Come on, I'm only halfway through this chapter. I want to get it done before lunch so I can help out before people start coming in. Ophelia feels bad for saying no, though, like she's letting her down somehow. So after a moment's pause, she sighs again and nods. Iced? I'm not in the mood for anything hot or too bitter.

Em raises her hands slightly in surrender. "I'll keep this interruption quick," she promises. Before heading to the kitchen she says, "Barisdad at your service," poorly hiding a smile as she fingerspells her pun. She comes back a few minutes later with two iced coffees and a package of shortbread cookies she only keeps around for Ophelia's sake. She can't imagine what Ophelia plans to help out with; the bar is all but ready for service - but Em definitely isn't. "There's really no rush. We're ready for tonight and if anyone comes in earlier I might kick them out myself."

Well that's not very nice, she signs, visibly amused. I don't suppose today is the day you let me donate some blood myself? Ophelia suspects this isn't that day, but you can't blame her for trying. The arrival of the snacks has the dreaded effect, though. She's closing her laptop in favor of taking the distracting cup of coffee and package of cookies. Ask her and she'll claim it's to not get crumbs all over her keyboard, but anyone with half a brain will realize she's just giving up for the day. Whatever; surely there's more to do around here. Sounds like something I could help with.

Em gives a small laugh and shakes her head. She really could blame Ophelia for trying, as her answer hasn't and wouldn't ever change, but she doesn't mind it. "Not unless you turned seventeen while I wasn't looking." She's confident that hasn't happened - she's kept out of Tír na nÓg recently for the express purpose of avoiding temporal surprises. "Yes, I'll drop them, you can kick them," she jokes. Juicebox bouncer was another job she wasn't keen on letting Ophelia near. She reaches over to snag a cookie, dipping it into her coffee to soften it. "So what did I interrupt?"

The joke doesn't go down very well with Ophelia, who's still yet to come to terms with the whole 'I'm part-fae' thing. It's been years, sure, but the self-hatred never goes away, does it? Oh, just trying to get another chapter done. I'm almost halfway through the book, but I feel kind of stumped, she writes, her face contorting in a visible expression of frustration. Unlike her dad, she takes a bite out of her cookie before she takes a good sip of her beverage. I'm not sure where to take the plot without making it feel so... overdone? I don't even know. Writer's block sucks.
