Lincliff Square

Lincliff Square is at the heart of the city. A lot of visitors and locals tend to frequent this area, as it connects most routes throughout the city. There's a small bakery right in the middle, home to some of the best treats the wizarding UK has to offer, and it's definitely a good place to kick back in and watch the people in a hurry to get places; if, of course, you don't mind people bumping into you every now and then.

Karci Just - Thirteen Year Old Spirit Nymph Send Me an Owl! - 19:31, January 9, 2020 (UTC) She'd be sitting on a small bench on the edge of the plaza watching people move around and interact with one another, their emotions and auras swirling around them, mingling and interacting with one another like a giant fireworks show. There wasn't a lot of people but it was still...intense to observe but also mesmerizing.

She was right. As she walked, observing the people that slipped past her, she enjoyed her churro.

This results in her missing all three and slipping. She doesn't even know what happened until she's sprawled on the floor, her churro lost several feet away from her and a throbbing pain on her ankle. Ouch! Her mouth opens, face twisting into a pained look, but she emits no noise.

She'd pick it up and move over silently offering her hand to help the other girl up.

As a matter of fact, even when she blinks her tears away, her instinct is to look at her ankle. It doesn't look broken... but she definitely twisted it, and it hurts. Tobin sniffles, doing what she can to avoid crying. If I'd stayed with mum, this wouldn't have happened, she thinks, remorsefully. This is what I get for craving a - wait. The churro. It's definitely been more than five seconds, but maybe she can make an exception? She looks around, and only then does she notice Karci. Oh. She tips her head back, bewildered by the close proximity... until she realizes what she's holding. The churro!

She'd watch the burst of white/orange/red fade but not completely and then be replaced with a bright blue followed by another burst of red before being replaced with yellow fading into orange. She'd follow the shift in emotions then nodding and responding seemingly to her thoughts even though the other girl hasn't spoken. "I picked it up when you dropped it." She'd smile and offer her free hand to help the other girl up.

She surveys the churro, but with the floor dust and gunk on it, she doesn't think she can make that five second rule exception anymore. Her face contorts into disgust for a second until she sets the churro down. It's gross and she isn't gonna eat it. Tobin sighs, shakes her head, and goes to stand up, but her ankle hurts way more when she tries placing weight on it. She winces and immediately sits back, ditching her previous plan while the pain subsides a little.

She's on the smaller side but if Tobin doesn't fight they should at least be able to get her up on her one foot so she can help her over to the bench.

She hates this. Hates feeling like she can't do anything on her own. Like she needs to be helped, saved - like she's the damsel in distress. Tobin scowls and twists her body, waving the girl away. She makes sure not to hit her, but does try guiding her hands away from her body.

She had been ready for...something but not such a strong negative reaction. She'd close her eyes and take the next few moments to start breathing slowly and try to stop her head from spinning and force the emotions that weren't hers out of her own aura and away.

She could've sworn she only tried nudging her hands away. Panic rises inside Tobin as she realizes she might've hurt her. Trying to avoid placing more weight on her ankle, she scoots her butt across the floor to reach Karci.

Tobin's confusion is likely the most prominent emotion right now, but there's no doubt she's feeling the rest of it, still. Slowly, Tobin shakes her head. She has no clue what triggered this girl, but if it was Tobin's hate for being helped, then she doesn't wanna risk it again. Again she has to muster a great amount of strength to haul herself onto her feet, so it takes a little bit, but she eventually gets there... even if she's hobbling awkwardly on one foot.

After Karci's small meltdown, she feels as though she's bound to freak out any second now for any reason. Weighted down by this suspicion, she only shrugs meekly, like she doesn't know. But the way she's hopping to avoid disturbing it with her face contorting into a pained expression regardless speaks volumes. Her pain melts into relief once she sits down on the closest bench to her, and she sighs.

It was definitely the ankle. She had no idea if she could help with it but she wanted to be able to help so she'd pause and push that want to help make it feel better through her own aura and as it touched Tobin's aura it would drown out some of the feelings of pain coming off the other girl. She had no idea what she'd done but her aura looked better at least? OOC: My thought was all she could really do it basically block some of the pain with other emotions. So...nothing's actually better (which in the long run might make it worse since pain is there for a reason) but it at least feels better.

Oh, Tobin's muscles relaxed and she was flooded by relief from whatever Karci had done. She looks down at Karci gratefully, with just a slight quirk to her lips, but there was an underlying confusion. What did you do? She looked about her age, if not younger, so... how did she know magic? Nonverbal, no less? OOC: Sorry for the delay! I haven't had much of a chance to come online.

It usually lead to some amazement but always spiraled down into fear. "I...can sense people's auras. Their...emotions sort of. It can be hard to nail down exactly how people are feeling but I can get a general idea." She paused not really wanting to elaborate more because if she started talking about helping people with their emotions or being able to do more than just sense them that's usually where the fear and anger started.

But she also doesn't want to keep messing around verbally, so she pauses, until she remembers: her notepad. Tobin twists, wincing at the slight pain the movement causes, and slips her arm out of the backpack sleeve long enough to retrieve the pad and a purple pen. With his video camera set up, he was filming the crowd moving through the square, sitting on a step behind it, watching down at the screen and what it was capturing. He wasn't doing this for any reason, just practise and experimenting with everything. Plus, he needed more practise with editing so maybe this would help. Sometimes, he moved the camera around, focussing on someone specific that caught his attention. Sure, maybe this was a bad idea and could annoy someone but he barely considered this, especially when he turned the camera onto a girl across the area.
