Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop is a small establishment located on a side road off the High Street in Hogsmeade. It is owned by Madam Puddifoot. The decorations are very tacky and frilly. A bell over the door announces customers with a "tuneful tinkle"; the round tables are arrayed with lacy napkins and china sugar bowls.

Oskar hadn't been able to afford a proper christmas present when christmas had swung around (it snuck up on him) and could only give him only so much a week before. So he sat in the Tea Shop with a small package on the table, hand wrapped and a sparkly ribbon around it. He'd asked Layton to come down Saturday morning and having morning tea with him. Oskar sat there and kept on looking at the door hoping that Layton turns up. Oskar was always worried that his brother will realise that Oskar isn't that good and just...leaves.

Layton had wondered why his brother had chosen such a public place for what he assumed to be gift giving. He hadn't been able to get much, only a nice watch he had found in Hogsmeade earlier on in the year, but he hoped it was enough. Running a little late, he was panting by the time he entered the tea shop. He looked around, scanning the area until he saw his brother. With a smile on his face, he walked over and sat himself opposite his brother. Placing his own parcel in front of him and laying his hands on it afterwards, he smiled at Oskar. "Did you think here'd be this busy?" He asked, glancing around for a second, "It's packed..."

Oskar hesitated before shaking his head. "No, not at all, I just thought it'd be a cute place to go instead of my room above the pub," he confessed, referring to the Hog's head which was perpetually covered in dust and webs. Oskar was beginning to believe it was a purposeful aesthetic rather than on accident. Oskar knew his worry was ridiculous and he was just insecure but he still felt a rush of relief when Layton turned up. "I'm so glad you're here! How's Hogwarts! I bet you're the best student they've ever seen." He was being unironic when he said that.

"Your room is cute!" Layton protested for a second as he flashed his typical grin at his brother, "Unless you've ruined it since I was there last; then I guess it's not as cute..." He trailed off for a second before he was brought back to the conversation and nodded. "It's good! I think I'm doing okay - nobody's said anything otherwise..." His mind wandered to his exact positioning in Hogwarts before shaking it away. "I don't know if I'm the best... maybe one of the best?"

Oskar grinned. One of the best was definitely good. How could it not be? "Oh, that's really good then! I'm so proud of you! And no, it's not, it's probably so small compared to what you have in Hogwarts and somehow getting any natural light is impossible. I think Aurelius put a curse on it so it always looks so dark and gloomy." Oskar might have created a rather different Hogwarts than reality. In his mind, Layton was living in a mansion with little elves tending to his every need.
