Early childhood[]

Marinette Elëa Bonnefort was born in 2031, to Angélique Rosseau and Ethan Bonnefort. She has an older brother; Adrien. Marinette is two years younger than Adrien. She was bit of a rebellious child, Adrien ended up being very protective of her. He wasn't just protective of others her was protecting her from herself. She was an avid little adventurer, getting into everything within her reach. She was always right on the edge of having a meltdown before Adrien could easily step in to help settle her down.

She and her godmother, Noemi, had a secret. Her godmother would send her a book inside of a stuffed animal to trick her parents. Marinette had become a very curious girl, she was always interested in Muggle aspects of life and her godmother was happy to indulge. Her parents were concerned and wanted to supervise her interest to make sure she wasn't going down a bad path they weren't aware of. What she was doing was harmless, she was learning, the lies however should have been avoided.

In 2040 prior to her entire library of books being confiscated, Marinette got caught reading an instructional book about playing poker. She had magically broken the latch of an old wood trunk her mother was keeping the confiscated books in. Her father found in amusing, her mother was livid. Until each book could be individual monitored for anything her mother considered inappropriate they were off limits. Her mother, Angie's, conditions left her personal library less than half the size of what it once had been. Her godmother, Noemi, found a way to continue sending her any book of her choosing. Her father even helped her find a way to hide once confiscated books her didn't think were harmful to her.

Personality and traits[]

Marinette is extremely knowledge, it makes her disregard everyone else because she thinks she knows better. She's constantly reading about from instructional/reference books and spouting facts to people who don't understand her babble. She's kind of a buzz kill, she has this annoying habit of pointing out the unpleasant side of everything. She's pretty much the opposite of an optimist without actually being a pessimist. She's not technically a doomsayer because she doesn't find solace in the bad things she sees. She's pretensious and overly confident, she'll never admit to being wrong. For instance when she broke her arm ice skating, her excuse was an issue with the blades of her skates, her lack of ability was never mentioned. She always has an excuse for why she's ultimately correct and someone else was incorrect. She doesn't make friends easily, she doesn't try very hard to be inviting. She doesn't let down her guard for any reason, she does't like being vulnerable. She thinks it makes her better at controlling her magic if she's as stone cold as can be. Her walls are constantly up, they only very temporarily part. Her brother is her only comfort zone.

Bonnefort Family[]

Marinette has a great relationship with her family. She may have secrets that she keeps from each of them, regardless of what she shares and what she hides they are her entire world. She and her father have a picture perfect "daddy-daughter" relationship. He's her partner in her book smuggling deal allowing her to reunite with the books her mother confiscated from her. She and her mother have their tense arguments but they love one another with no amount of animosity between them. They disagree about Marinette's choices and it causes petty rifts that don't ever amount to much or last very long. Marinette idolizes her brother Adrien. He's her perfect ideal of everything. She doesn't think he's infallible but she does wish everyone else in the world were a lot more like him.

  • Marinette: French diminutive of Marine meaning "from the sea".
