Morrígan often carries a veil that hides her true self; she's a mystery that doesn't want to be solved, a puzzle with missing pieces. Being who she was isn't easy, when she often feels that she must hide who she is, and what she is. It's all a tree of insecurity which began to grow the moment she discovered her Banshee heritage. Can't blame her for never getting over the fact that she'd scream at the sight of death. She doesn't enjoy that bit about her either.
A result of her fragility is a somewhat lacking self-esteem. She doesn't regard herself too highly, but it's easier to lift her spirit. Her constant need to be feeling better for herself was always a priority, but sometimes, she'd put down her own wants to help others. As long as she was doing something for the better of herself mostly, she will live through a day.
Behind all that mystery, lies deep ambition and quite a scholarly nature. Morrígan has always been ambitious to do nothing short of her best. Her ambition pushes her to do better, to be the example. Of course, while she wishes all that, she does maintain some connection with reality. If she must, she'll put down ambition to achieve something far more realistic, because progress only happens when it's real.
And since she started schooling, she's always been fascinated with books and whatnot. It quickly became a hobby of hers, and she'd be delighted to talk about the latest muggle books and her thoughts of them. An intellectual conversation would be an ideal one for Morrígan; it is quite fascinating how people view different things, you know. She didn't pick up learning about the mind out of no reason; the mind is complex and understanding it can open doors never even thought imaginable.
On a setting sun evening of August 15th, 2000, the not-too-familiar caw of a crow could be heard in the far distance... It was nothing unusual, bar if you consider the happening. In a hospital in wizarding Cannes, France, a little girl was born. A daughter of a Banshee and a wizard. And her name was Morrígan Eileen Shannon Talhaoui. She was a half-Banshee.
Her parents were the English-Irish Banshee Susanna Taylor, and the aspiring French wizarding politician Damien Talhaoui. The two were a budding relationship at the time; only recently having gotten engaged, to them, Morrígan came earlier than they would have liked, but they loved her nevertheless. Susanna had chosen the name for Morrígan, after the Irish goddess of the same name. Of course, there was some disagreement, but it was what it was.
Morrígan spent a fair bit of her childhood in Cannes, living in her father's home there. Of course, being half-Banshee, Morrígan soon enough found the unfortunate truth about it; when she was about five, she witnessed an accident which resulted in a death. Morrígan sent a loud-pitched scream out, and well... she was incredibly scared of it. She wasn't traumatised from it, but it did send some chills down her spine.
Only two years later, did she have her first sign of magic, hence her being a Half-Breed. She was playing around with some art stencils with various shapes and was looking at a stencil of a wolf... before it turned black. She noticed but didn't seem to disturbed by it. Something about the stencil looking better in black.
It was around that time that a divide was carved into her family. Her father didn't get along so well with her mother, but the two wouldn't truly separate for one reason; because of Morrígan. It didn't feel right to pressure her that way, so they settled for having a long distance relationship instead. Morrígan joined her mother in England, and would soon enough start schooling in Hogwarts. Her father did express some disapproval at that, but hardly made a huge deal of it. If that is what it is, then let it be.
However, upon Sorting, Morrígan was found to be a hatstall between Slytherin and Ravenclaw. She decisively chose Slytherin over Ravenclaw though; while reading and whatnot appealed to her, she didn't consider herself a Ravenclaw and thus chose Slytherin. It seemed fitting; her ambition for success for herself was great and so was her will to protect herself. Considering what she is, it's not a surprise that she'd feel such egotism.
Whether that was the right choice or not, Morrígan sort of found herself at home with Slytherins. Despite some of them's... not-so-nice tendencies. But beyond that, Morrígan quite frankly was a relatively quiet and calm person. A betrayed curiosity when it came to her house, to be honest. But without doubt, she found a small love for her classes.
Every now and then, Morrígan would occasionally help a student or two, purely out of the partial kindness in her. In time, she did soon meet others like her; not half-Banshees, no, but other Half-Breeds rather. It gave her some confidence knowing she isn't alone in the world. She never did get a Prefect or a Head Girl badge, because the two seemed nothing beyond physical badges of sorts. Sure, it'd look good, but it was no priority of Morrígan's.
Right out of graduation though, Morrígan found herself going back to France to work in the Ministry there. Her father had already been working there ever since she started Hogwarts, and it gave him some relief to know his daughter was about as interested in things as he was. Morrígan, however, went into the Department of Mysteries in the French Ministry. She started working in the Brain Room there first, but she shuffled a bit, before settling in for the long term in the Brain Room. The mind had always been of some fascination to Morrígan.
In her seventh year of working there, she had worked up to get Head of the Department. It really didn't change much, although she was a little bit demanding, with good cause. Results were being made, which always made Morrígan pleased. Although, as her 30th birthday came about, she had learned of a Ministerial Election in the French wizarding society. At first, Morrígan debated about the risk she would take for this... but she chose to run anyway. Little was she aware at the time that she'd find herself running against her father.
In the weeks to follow, Morrígan came third in the election, losing thusly to her father and some other candidate that she really can't be bothered with. With a little respect though, she was chosen to be the Senior Undersecretary, after the runner-up asked for a different position. Morrígan and her father kept conversations to a bare minimum though, and Morrígan used her mother's maiden name as how she was to be addressed. Morrígan still achieved much, doing all sorts of things to keep things moving.
However, great things don't last as it seems. Well into her third year as Senior Undersecretary, Morrígan received an anonymous death threat. To say it frightened her was understatement. As if she wasn't already afraid for her safety, now she was even more so. Out of that fear of her own safety, she quietly resigned at the end of that year, asking nothing to be made public, because the thought could haunt her for life. She soon enough moved back to England, moving into her mother's old home in London. Although she'd walk into a surprise as she did so...
