Jaeyeol is quite the odd ball but he'd rather be unique than boring any day. Truthfully, he doesn't try to be different, he just tries to be himself. And in doing that, he can't help but be unique in everything he does. One of his favorite things to do is ask people questions that no one else does. He's the one to ask what your favorite type of weather is or what your favorite amphibian is. Doing this, he gets to know people in a way that no one else really does. Besides, he likes knowing random facts - you never know when they might come in handy.

Jae is also incredibly smart. He has a gift and desire for learning. Not just learning about school type things, but literally learning about everything. The kid knows the circumference of a circle the same way he knows the origins of memes. He just likes knowing things. It's very common to find him with his head in a book or to find him watching a 20 random facts about squirrels video on YouTube at 3am.

He obviously has a brilliant mind, but he has an even brighter heart to match. He's sensitive and empathetic towards others. Jaeyeol doesn't like for people to be upset. If they are, he usually pulls a dumb joke or silly pun to make them smile again. He always sees the best in people, which gets him in trouble sometimes. He'll end up getting attached to people he shouldn't. For how intelligent he is, he can make some stupid moves.

Overall, Jaeyeol is a loving person with a passion for learning and sating his curiosities. Though he's a bit odd, you can't help but love him once you get to know him. He's satisfied with the most mundane of things, like wearing sweatpants and eating Chinese take out while watching an animal documentary. If there's one thing he's learned after all his reading and researching, it's that true happiness is found in the simplest things.

Park Jiseok was the oldest of his three siblings which meant there was much more pressure on him to marry and marry well. His parents had a marriage set up with the daughter of an immensely wealthy family; however, Jiseok's heart belonged to someone else. That someone else being a dancer named Gu Hayoon. Because her career hadn't taken off yet, Jiseok's parents didn't approve of her. A poor dancer with no future versus a bright young girl from a rich family - the choice was clear. Jiseok went for his love Hayoon.

After they married, Hayoon's profession as a dancer shot off and she began being nationally recognized for her talent. She performed in showcases all around South Korea, Jiseok following her every second of the way. It was in the middle of one of her tours that Hayoon fell mid-performance and ruined her ankle. She was rushed to the hospital where she was told she could never dance in that capacity again. After only a mere two years, Hayoon's short-lived career was over. But that was okay. Because at that very same hospital, Hayoon was informed that she was pregnant with her first child - well children.

She and Jiseok settled down in Jeju, where they planned to raise their family. First came the twins, Jeonghun and Chaehun. After they came along, the Parks were gifted with another set of twins, Siwoo and Siyeol. The two got a break from twins when little Jaeyeol was born (his brothers like to tell him he ate his twin in the womb). And then came the baby, Hana. Though dancing made Hayoon happy, it never brought the same joy that being a mother did.

Because Jaeyeol was the first to be born alone instead of as a pair, he didn't have an inborn best friend. That meant he spent most of his time alone. He wasn't an antisocial kid or anything - he just was able to be fine being alone or with others just the same. He tended to be too quirky for most kids, so they usually didn't want to play with him anymore. But that was okay because then Jae could be alone and do his own thing. Usually, that was reading. The kid was basically a genius by the age of 9, which was coincidentally the age of his first magical experience.

It happened on the playground. It was only 5 o'clock but it was rather dark outside, due to the winter time schedule. The streetlights were on, so the kids could see, but they weren't on for long. There was a power outage in the neighborhood that cause the streetlights to shut off. One of the girls Jaeyeol had been playing with began to cry because she was so afraid of the dark. Jae didn't want her to cry. In a panic to bring the light back, a nearby pile of sticks caught fire, lighting the two children with an orange glow. Jaeyeol had been the one to light it. And like the responsible young nerd he was, he began collecting rocks to encircle the fire to keep it at bay. Wouldn't want a forrest fire on our hands now would we?

In that same year, the Park family moved to Manchester, where Jiseok found a good job. Jae's oldest siblings began attending Hogwarts, and he joined them two years later. He was unsurprisingly sorted into Ravenclaw, where he was able to make a few friends, but he still kept to himself for the most part. Through his years there, he's learned so many things and can't wait to continue learning. He wouldn't hate to meet a special someone either.
