It was a cold night out but Cesario only was wearing a light knitted jumper to combat it. It...was the one made by his dad and it was a little itchy but he wore it anyway. He'd been the one to ask Marino to dinner. Not for any particular reason, he just got bored of the great hall and there's only so many times you can have dinner with family members willingly before it got a little sad. They'd been studying on and off together and Marino seemed like a nice guy. Cesario wasn't a speakative person himself so not being expected ot keep up with a conversation was nice. Relaxing. "This place is 'aight, yeah?" He asked as he fiddled with the hem of the jumper.

Coming back to Hogwarts after the winter break had been quite the relief, but it'd still taken some getting used to everything. Some of his friends had already left Hogwarts so at least he hadn't had to explain much to that many people, and even then most of it had been lies. Maybe he'd even believe in his fake story after a certain amount of retellings. Marino bristled against the cold and plunged his hands further down into his wool overcoat. He appreciated Cesario asking him to accompany him for dinner. Plenty of people tended to make things out of such simple trivialities, but not Marino. He just found it nice to have some stress-free company. Turning to look at the other, he nodded abashedly and pulled out his wand, writing into the air in front of them, "Yeah, the ambience is really nice," he agreed, his cheeks tinged pink from the cold.

Cesario was in the dark about everything-why would he know everything? He didn't go out of his way to poke his nose-well, he didn't do it on his own without a little something lining his pockets. And no one had given him reason to start following Marino around. Not that he did that a lot but he was helping his dad's P.I. office on the down low. "Yeah, I think so too," he said as his eyes skimmed the words before the waiter showed them a table. "You doing much this break? I'm just gonna be studying. Classes are kicking me in the shins."

Marino's lips puckered lopsidedly. Yes, his own grades had lowered considerably in comparison to last term's, but he didn't know just how much of that was the increase in difficulty of the classes in question and how much it was him being distraught and unfocused most of the time. He hadn't really planned to do anything in particular during break this time around besides trying to look for his sister, so he merely nodded and flicked his wand-bearing wrist, "Same. Def not ready for my final tests." Then, after a small, pensive pause, "So what're you gonna have to eat?"

"Uh...I don't know, really, nothing that spicy, I don't have much of a tolerance," he confessed. He was raised near Glasgow. Spice wasn't a big there. "What are you feeling like? Anything...in particular? Lot of options." He was skimming through the menu here but most was unfamiliar. "We still down for studying next week?" Just to make sure-Cesario hated feeling unsure about stuff or getting the time wrong.

"Hmmmm..." he hummed as he pondered while looking at his menu for a few moments before waving his wand without really looking up at the other at first, "The assorted cuban platter looks pretty inviting," he admitted, his lips curving in anticipation of the food. Still, he knew that he wouldn't enjoy it as much. Without most of his tongue, there was only so much depth of flavor that he could perceive. Trying to distract himself from such a pessimistic thought, he wrote again, "Yeah, sure. Same time, same place sound good to you?"

Cesario nodded with a smile. "Same time, same place," he agreed. "Well, I'll take your word for it. Lets have that. You ever been? To Cuba that is. I know it's a pretty closed off place for muggles but I don't really keep up with that side of the world." He should, his adopted family came from South America originally and they'd taken trips there. Not with him but he was still connected somehow to that side of the world.

Marino shook his head resolutely, and with a dash of remorse too. While he'd been definitely grown up more into the muggle side of the world, Cuba had never particularly been a spot his family had wanted to spend their vacation in. Still, they'd been planning on taking a trip somewhere for a whole month. Before the fire and the crisis, of course. That didn't stop the twinge of pain from stinging his chest, though. "Never," he wrote explicitly, as if somehow his gesture hadn't been enough. "I've only ever traveled to Spain, France, Italy and Greece," he admitted, a tad sheepishly.

"Hey, better than me," he said with a small smile, "I haven't been out of UK." Alejandro keeps on promising him to do it but money's tight and it's hard to find time off for them. Val, Alejandro's sister, has an easier time to go travelling but even then she had years of working before she took the time to go travelling. "Spain always seemed nice. I think I'd like the food more than in Paris. You like travelling?"

He made a guttural sound of confusion. He didn't particularly know why, but he'd always assumed Cesario had travelled a lot. "I really love Spain," he said, and a wistful smile spread across his lips. He really did, but he obviously hadn't been there since the night he'd stopped speaking for good. "My dad and his side of the family are from there, but we are estranged." He shrugged matter-of-factly as he'd always grown up without them and he was way too used to it to really feel any sadness about it. "I do know how to make Paella, though. We could always get together and cook it together." He'd been tempted to literally write ellipsis after the phrase, but he figured it would've been too dramatic, so instead he opted for just a simple add-on, "If you want to, of course."
