Life before Beauxbâtons

Will you be mad at me if I keep signing?

– Remy Noel

No. Not ever. But, you have to talk sometimes.

– Georges Noel

He was raised by his grandmother, Muriel. His parents, Athena and Jérôme, played quidditch professionally. Anytime his mother and father had that was not devoted to practice, or a game was spent with family. Nonetheless he rarely saw his mother or father if it was not at a quidditch event. Sometimes he got lucky, and one of his got injured during a game which usually found one of them on the bench. Remy loved this because although there was pain to be managed, and they could never play with him the way they did on their off days he still found a way to enjoy the time he had with either one of them.

His grandmother taught him baby sign language after a young mother boasted about it while at the shops. Muriel thought a baby needed to learn how to sign since they could not speak. What she never expected was for her grandson Remy to quickly learn baby signing between four and eight months old. He took to it and used as his first language until he was about nine years old. Remy refused to speak, he developed a form of communication using grunts for ”yes”, snarls for ”no” and shrugs for ”maybe” when he was not signing. His father suggested therapy and Remy began to use French Sign Language as his therapist requested.

His therapy sessions worked through his anxiety and Remy began to use less signing and more verbal communication methods. He was not a boisterous or loquacious child. He was imaginative and introverted. He had a rich inner life where his creativity filled many different worlds with many different characters. Remy was given a notebook and told to start writing instead of keep all of his thoughts inside of his head. He was told they would weigh him down. He was also told that he was free to destroy anything he wrote that did not like. If reading the words did not make make him feel good then he was allowed to be rid of them.

He started school in France at Beauxbâtons when he was eleven years old. All of the excitement built up over the years was anticlimactic and sent him in a mild depression. He never felt like he belonged, the way of life in his fantasy was different than reality. He struggled in his classes and only showed aptitude for subjects he had any interest in such as but not limited to; Runes, COMC and History. He was too shy for Beauxbâtons, he could never acclimate to the atmosphere of the students. At the school he was lost, in the world he was like everyone else. He begged to be transferred out of the French school after his second year.

He had a pen friend in Wales, Siân Merwin, she transferred from Hogwarts to W.A.D.A. and she encouraged him to do the same thing. His parents would have discouraged both his friendship and the transfer if he were not so unhappy. He began attending W.A.D.A. when he was fourteen years old. He had always been a fan or musical theatre and classical music, he left people to assume that meant he was gay. He could care less about the label he was given, as long as he was accepted regardless of his preference and orientation. After he graduated from wizarding school he worked as a stagehand in a Paris theater before he moved to the UK permanently.

He came out of his metaphorical shell in Great Britain. He loved the dramatic arts, his knack for imitations and his luscious singing voice would have remained hidden gems showcased when he was at home by himself. He began writing a lot of short stories which became one act plays he could perform as a one man show. He tried to include others as the ensemble in the occasional rock opera/musical. He did everything at the speed of light always moving from one project to the next never stopping in between them. He has been a struggling actor and playwright ever since he was sixteen years old performing in clubs.

Roguish - Nonchalant, Cheerful, Ingenuous, Unsettled

He is an upbeat sort of fellow, he is always a breath away from a smile. He likes to have a positive outlook on life even if he is dying inside. He prefers not to share his hurt feelings or pain with other people. It is too intimate and that makes him uncomfortable. He was shy as a boy and spend at least a decade communicating without speaking. He has conquered quite a few of his fears, he still remains somewhat insecure though he hides it in other ways. He has such a great sense of humor, he can even laugh at the jokes that are made at his expense. He is quite happy-go-lucky, but that only seems to be when he is on his own. He does not seem to represent himself well in groups. He lets himself fade away never adding anything substantial to conversations. He is much more of a private, one on one, type of person. He likes to get know people at a pace, he is not willing to push anyone away, he also is the type of person who likes to be approached first.

He has a lovely, cool, copper skin tone. He has slightly curly, black/brown hair. He usually wears his hair messy, exactly the way it is when he gets out of bed, sometimes and this is rare he runs his fingers through it make it even messier. Remy has his mother's eyes. They are a rich, dark brown, and mysterious. He has this undeniable glint that says "I'm going to do something, and even I don't know what that is yet." it has always aggravated his grandmother.
