Rhian has gained some height since her teens, nearing 5'8" on a good day, and is starting to realise that yes, she is gorgeous, and she should flaunt it while she still has it. Tall and svelte, she's blessed with sleek, rich brown hair, vibrant blue eyes and a decent fashion sense that has transitioned from casual to classy over the past few years. She puts effort into her look now, and with a bit of eyeliner and the right outfit, she can look a million dollars. Something else she's less afraid of now is being more seductive; she knows she's got it, and she's going to use it.

history

Rhian was born in Wales to Ali and Joshua Josephs on the 6th May. Her childhood was perfect; she had everything she needed, her parents were in love and treated her perfectly, her family were close and supportive of each other. It was a brilliant upbringing. Rhian recieved her letter a few days after her 11th birthday. It was a massive shock; she had no idea that she was a witch, and when her father confessed that he was a wizard, she refused to believe him until she watched him make things float across the room. Eventually, she agreed to go to Hogwarts. The first and second years were successful, with Rhian getting brilliant grades left, right and center. During the break between Rhian's second and third year at Hogwarts, she was in a car accident with her mum. The crash was violent and bloody and her mum was killed brutally. Rhian was extraordinarily lucky to survive, and she was left with scars all over her body from broken glass and the fire which started. The incident shook her mentally and traumatised her; she suffers from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder, though she's slowly getting better) still and has flashbacks. When she was thirteen, after a particularly brutal argument with her drunken dad, she attempted to runaway from home. She actually got pretty far - she only got caught when she tried to stowaway on a ferry to France. She was taken back to her father, who wouldn't even look her in the eye. The teachers at Hogwarts tried to support her, but Rhian was a different person. Quiet, cold and detached from everyone else, she avoided her father and the rest of humanity as she stumbled through her third year, with bad results. She didn't do homework, was sent to detention multiple times, and just gave up eventually. In her fourth year, she met Marilyn Roads on the train, and the two dated until sixth year. She also met Demi, who is now one of the closest people in her life. Her fifth year wasn't anything special. After graduation, she decided that she was going to try and make something of her life. She wound up flat-sharing with another girl in need of a roommate, Jaeslya, who she swiftly became friends with. Soon after that followed a job with the Ministry, on the Committee of Experimental Charms - a goal she set her sights on back in fifth year. She recently scooped a job with Witch Weekly, as a sports journalist and photographer. Things were going smoothly, but things swiftly came crashing down when out of the blue, Rhian's boyfriend Aeron broke up with her.

personality

Rhian has matured immensely since her years at Hogwarts. She's given up wallowing in self-pity, and is now trying to make something of her life, since she's out in the big, crazy, fast-paced world and she doesn't have the castle to fall back on anymore. Her main focuses now are making enough money to keep herself afloat, and keeping in contact with Demi until she graduates. Her cold, harsh personality has since thawed out slightly - Rhian has realised that in order to make it in the world, people need to like you, and in order for people to like you, you have to bite your tongue from time to time. She's not afraid of speaking her mind though, and if someone isn't important to her, she is still fully capably of unleashing her thoughts - don't underestimate her just because she's trying to calm down. Although she's trying to make more friends and be social, she doesn't possess any desire to start going out to parties or start dating anyone or basically become normal just yet. Maybe in a few years. The walls around her heart are still up, strong as ever, and her trust issues still block her from forming many true friendships and relationships. She's as skeptical and pessimistic as always, though she is honestly trying to look more on the bright side of things instead of just immediately expecting the worst - it's a lot harder than it sounds. Her self-esteem is still quite low, but she knows she has value. She has potential. Yes, she's damaged, and yes, she's rather lost out in the new world, but she wants to achieve something in life to prove to herself that she's not worth nothing. She also wants to prove to Demi that you can't sit and take what's been given to you and let it defeat you. You rise above it. That might be easier said that done, and it requires work, but she's more than prepared. She's ready. To people she genuinely likes and cares about, Rhian is much more warm and comfortable. She isn't afraid to reveal personal details or her opinions, and becomes more concerned about being judged or what they think about her. She can be really nice when she wants to be, but it takes a lot of trust to get that out of her. It's worth it in the end, though.

She was sweet, a Muggle writer for a gardening magazine that no-one read but she loved it nonetheless, and spoke with a very charming Welsh accent. She was fourty-two when she died. Her and Rhian were waiting at a traffic light, coming home from the shops, when another car plowed into the back of them. It crushed the vehicle, and left Rhian with a collection of scars, more on her mind than her body, as she watched her mother be killed right in front of her. Rhian was extremely lucky she survived, and often she wishes she'd gone instead of her mum. Her dad, Joshua, was just as sweet and happy as his wife. He loved Muggle sports, especially cricket, and enjoyed experimenting with all sorts of Charms in his office. But after the death of his wife, he broke down. He'd spent days in front of the fireplace in his chair, drinking like a fish and smoking like a chimney, never speaking a word to his daughter and leaving her to take care of herself. Rhian still has no idea how he didn't drink himself to death. He got better eventually, though it was a rough journey, and Rhian's doing her best to build bridges between them now he's actually talking to her again. Demetria Crow Rhian was in a particularly dark place in her life when Demetria Crow walked right into it. The conversation was brief, but the two realized just how much they actually had in common. They're good friends now, and often met at the Astronomy Tower at night, and Rhian sees Demi as a sort of younger sister. She looks out for her and is desperate to make sure Demi doesn't go down the same route as Rhian. Violet Champagne Violet is a co-worker and roommate of Rhian's, and over time, they've grown very close. Rhian feels like she can trust Violet with almost anything, which is a big deal for her, and it's nice to have someone her age to have a laugh with. Blake Schmidt Despite their rocky beginning, Rhian has found herself caring a lot for Aeron's little sister, especially after all the drama she's seen Blake's family put her through. She's a sort of guardian figure, and will always be there for Blake, as the crazy world of the Schmidts has undeniably drawn them together. Old Friends Jaeslya Knight Jae and Rhian lived and worked together before a while before Jae jetted off to China with her boyfriend. They were good friends, and Rhian hopes that Jae owls soon. Tyler Blake Rhian met Tyler when he walked into her one day in Hogsmeade. That somehow led to a bowling game and a drink, and Rhian now considers him a friend. He's weirdly fun to hang around with, if incredibly spontaneous, but she enjoys his company. He's dead. She can't put into words how much she misses him. Honestly, he can't decide whether he's coming or going, this bloke. Oz Llewellyn Rhian doesn't particularly like Oz, but she can tell he cares about Demi, and that's enough for her to trust him. Edmund Schmidt Being a huge inner Quidditch nerd, Rhian was delighted when she bumped into Edmund from the Caephilly Catapults. He seemed cool, weirdly distant, and he spoke like a fourty-year-old. Still, it was a cool encounter. Aeron Schmidt The inner Quidditch nerd freaked out when Rhian bumped into Aeron, and the two got on like a house on fire, with the conversation swiftly delving into flirtatious territory. They started dating and it was the happiest time of Rhian's life... but then all the drama happened. They're in a pretty muddled place right now, but one thing is for sure - Rhian isn't taking him back any time soon. Tyler Blake It's not a romance - Rhian definitely finds Tyler attractive, and it all built up until one day she slept with him at her apartment. They aren't together, and Rhian's sure they're going to stay just friends, but there's definitely a part of her that's endlessly fond of him. Marilyn Roads Rhian met Marilyn in fourth year, and they instantly got along. The pair started dating soon after, and the relationship carried on for two years, before they split over the summer holidays. They remained friends, but the recent news that Marilyn committed suicide has racked Rhian with guilt. Template:Rhian/Jack Rhian owns a black cat called Jack, who she'd had since she was thirteen. He's very quiet and rather skittish at times, but once he grows to know you, he's just a massive softie at heart. Charms Rhian was pretty much the only subject Rhian actually enjoyed in school; it was one of the three subjects she passed with an O in her N.E.W.Ts. She currently works on the Committee on Experimental Charms, and finds it surprisingly more enjoyable than she expected. Guitar Rhian is a natural on the guitar, though she doesn't spend as much time playing it as she does charming it to make it sound different. She can take apart a guitar and put it back together, and could probably build one from scratch if she put her mind to it. Astrology One of her favourite hobbies, Rhian has quite the knack for astrology.
