History

Robert and Rachel Ceasar were functional in the beginning of their marriage. The first year or so anyway. They met through a dating application and were quick to date. They dated for four years before tying the knot. Both were part of the magical community, with Rachel working as a teacher at Hogwarts. With her spending nine months in the school, leaving Robert alone with Roman, put a strain on their relationship and by their second year, their was little love between them anymore. However, neither considered divorce as both are rather stubborn and weren't at a point in their life where they would find anyone else. Thus, Roman grew up listening to his parents scream constantly, when his mother was around anyway. He never had much of a relationship with her, especially since she viewed as him as the reason her and Robert's marriage had broken down. For that matter, Roman didn't have a relationship with his father either. His father spent most of his time out, leaving Roman alone or with babysitters. Many of the times his parents acknowledged him was to try turn him against the other, something that Roman would learn to ignore. Roman was neglected and was isolated.

He developed anger issues, often destroying everything he could get his hands on whenever he was caught in a rage. He went through therapy when he was eight, learning tactics on how to control it. However, it was during one of his rages when he was seven, tipped off by one of his action figures breaking, that he had his first magical incident. He set his bedroom on fire. His parents weren't bothered, probably wouldn't have cared if he turned out to be a squib either really, and the incidents, and any other versions, were shrugged off. However, when he was nine, he found his escape. Sports. Specifically: quidditch. He was introduced to it by his neighbours kids who let him fly one of their brooms. He flew to it like a moth to the light. He was given his own broom by his dad (anything to keep Roman quiet). Roman spent most of his time between then and Hogwarts on that broom, giving him an outlet and a place to feel free, though he was still feeling isolated and alone.

When he finally got to Hogwarts, he was sorted into Gryffindor and struggled to make friends during the first year. He was standoffish and not use to other people. It wasn't until his second year, when he joined the Quidditch team. Though only in his second year, he soon became one of the best beaters in the team and his popularity sky rocketed. This constant attention gave Roman the experience he needed to develop some level of social skills, however he rarely let anyone in. Grades wise, he was mediocre as he placed all his energy into Quidditch and his friends but he didn't mind this, he didn't need high grades to become a professional quidditch player. However, in his fifth year, he found out both his parents were cheating on each other. Continuously. He found out at different times but afterwards, any chance at having a relationship with either of them deteriorated. By seventh year, he was scouted by the Puddlemere United and was part of the team as soon as he graduated.

He'd been aware of the Schmidt's for years now. How could he not? That family's image in regards to Quidditch was almost legendary, naturally making him all the more determined to be better than them. This was definitely the case with Blake Schmidt, a fellow beaver in Heidelberg Harriers. For years, their rivalry was documented by the media. Sure, he flirted with her occasionally, but it was more in hopes that it would get under her skin than anything. What he certainly didn't expect was running into her at the pharmacy and finding out she was planning to overdose. Though he did take the rivalry seriously enough, he didn’t take it seriously enough to turn her away. So he convinced her to go get a drink with him. Then another one, and another one. He didn't really have any experience in this area but he figured he could give her something to do. He didn't ask why she planned it, she'll tell him if she wants to. None of his business really.

They were way too long to get together in Roman’s opinion. They were only an official couple by the third date, though he’ll assert it was the 300th date. Part of him wanted to badger her for the next step, but he didn’t want to push her into something she didn’t want so he let her decide. By the fifth date, the public had found out but he found out a week after the news broke out from a mate of his. He couldn’t care less. He was there for the sport not the fame. When it came to the other family members, he liked them well enough, just to this day, he doesn’t know who’s who. That’s okay, he just calls them Schmidt. He can't say he's a too big of a fan of family reunions and would much rather be in a bar. Having come from a one person family, being involved with a family as big as the Schmidt's was a bit of a culture shock. He goes anyway, though, for Blake's sake. Secretly, though, he does know their names, considering he spent a few years researching them, or at least those in Quidditch, to figure out their weaknesses.

Though they were initially slow, they snowballed after they got together. At 21, he proposed and only months later they had tied the knot. Not long after, Blake was pregnant with twins. Many people thought Roman would bolt, unable to take the responsibility, and for a while, he considered it. He was terrified of messing up, that he wasn’t ready. Also, his parents married quickly, what happened if he and Blake turned out the same? However, he had made a promise to himself long ago that he wouldn't turn out like his parents. Plus, he couldn't leave Blake for his own selfish reasons. Could you imagine her moving on and dating someone else? No thanks. In reality, Blake had Roman wrapped around her finger and he was following her wherever she went. Germany, America, North Korea, Hell. He'd follow her there. He'd buy her 100 puppies if she wanted, honestly. This feeling of being trapped, however, didn't last. Especially, when he met the twins. Roman continued playing Quidditch throughout their marriage, though his ferocity for it that he had when he was younger wasn't there. By the time he hit thirty, he found himself preferring to be in the stands than the field. He guessed his priorities had shifted. Blake kept on having children, even adopting one, and Roman was happy, as long as she was. Though he swears that if they have more he'll start calling them all Schmidt because he doesn't know their names.

Personality

Roman is the definition of sarcasm. Heavily sarcastic and dry, there is never a moment where he doesn't let a comment go by. Sometimes, this can make him seem like a bit of an asshole, and he kind of his. He tends to take nearly everything as a joke and is always surprised when someone takes him seriously. He isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, however, and most of his knowledge is centred around sports, hand to hand combat, and his wife. Someone help him when his kids ask for help with homework. Despite that, Roman does try his best to keep up with the people around them and though he can be a bit of a grump, he'd follow his family anywhere. However, Roman is quick and knows when someone is lying to him, knowing the signs.

Coming from an isolated childhood, Roman isn't use to being part of a large family likes the Schmidt's. Due to this, Roman often finds the need to escape to a bar for a breather time to time. However, stemming from this, he has a determination to make sure his own kids don't feel alone or unsupported. Also, though he and Blake bicker constantly, he does try to shield his kids from the real fights. A huge part is terrified of being a deadbeat and turning out like his own parents. Though he certainly has the attributes of being a deadbeat, such as spending hours getting drunk off beer at the bar, or sometimes forgetting important things about his kids, and there are people out there still thinking he'll get up and run (even though he's nearing his ten year anniversary with Blake), he wouldn't leave. They have him wrapped around their finger.

However, Roman does still have slight anger issues and can often be pushed into a fight, especially when he's had a few drinks. He can often come home bloody and bruised due to fighting someone a little bit bigger than him. Though he knows how to control it, diplomacy isn't his biggest strong point and prefers to speak through his fist when someone pisses him off (or when he pisses someone else off). Roman's love is sport and is constantly keeping up with multiple games, especially Quidditch. Though he doesn't have a huge problem, he does gamble a little bit. Being a professional player, sport is Roman's life but he's finding his passion to play dwindling.
