She was stooped over a young, pale witch. The witch's face was stiff, it would've been easy to assume she was dead if her chest wasn't rising and falling weakly. "Poor dear, consumed a bit of aconite. Here," she handed Rose a bowl of steaming water and a towel, "dab her face while I whip up a tonic."
"Poor darling," she pulled out a vial of golden liquid, "Rose, I want you to apply this to her face. Mary, I want you to make a salve, maybe thicken it with powdered liver-wort, there's some in the cupboard there. Once you've gotten that made, apply it to her chest and stomach, would you?"
*A bag materialises just above the reception desk, and lands with a very heavy 'ker-chunk!'. An unsigned, unidentifiable note, says "A donation, believed genuine, to finance the care of the impoverished." The bag contains three thousand Galleons.*
"I'm Mary Waters, assistant Healer," she said with a smile, shaking his head. She tipped her head, eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "You look familiar... we were in the same year at Hogwarts, weren't we? You were a Ravenclaw?"
"That is the plan!" He would say with a smile. "I did take the class and this past year spent some time studying with a few previous healers near my hometown for some extra practice. How long have you been working here?"
"Well that's good news. I don't know why more people don't want to become healers. It is such a satisfying profession, knowing you helped someone everyday." He would smile. "So why did you become a healer?"
"When I was really sick for years, the Healers were always very kind to me. When I saw firsthand what they did, and the compassion they showed me, I knew I wanted to show it to other people, other patients. Because I know how scared they feel, how it feels to wait for a cure, to wonder what's going to happen to you. Now, it feels like I'm giving back to all the people who helped me through it. That's why I'm a Healer." She smiled shyly, wondering if she'd said a little too much for comfort.
"Well that is a very good question..... I'm not exactly sure to be honest.... I had it down to being a lawyer or a healer. And for a while, I thought for sure I was going to be a lawyer for the Ministry but .... it just didn't seem to fit me. As a healer, I get to help someone else and find situations where everyone can win. As a lawyer, I would be fighting to put someone in Askaban for the rest of there lives." He would pause for a moment. "I really didn't answer your question very well."
-"You conjured beauty from the things left behind, found healing where it did not live." Message Me – Find Me
He looks at her, and immediately understands that she is in labour. He smiles and places a palm on her hand "We'll get the details done after you're okay." Using a summoning charm, he puts her on a stretcher and takes her to the Sixth Floor
"I was hoping to make it through the year without any issues, but I guess we can never avoid it. I just don't know what would make another student feel the need to seriously injure another like this. It really breaks my heart."
