Subira was born to Ayleanna and Caleb Otieno-Keswick on a mild but cloudy Friday in early October. She's the oldest of three kids, and she was very much the responsible older sibling growing up. Her parents come from a well-established, wealthy family, so growing up she rarely wanted for anything and got the best primary schooling money could buy.
Her first sign of magic was at nine. She was playing outside with her siblings when her youngest sibling fell, scraping up their arm. Subira, as the responsible oldest sibling, went to help, and when she did she was accidentally able to partially heal the scrape. She was rather relieved; she was a bit of a late bloomer, and she'd overheard her parents worrying that she was a squib. Standing proud, she told her parents what had happened and made sure her siblings backed her up.
Even in primary school, Subira felt pressure to be the best. Her parents were never mean to her when she was less than perfect, and in fact they were always good about encouraging her, but she could tell they wanted her to be better. From a young age, the principles of discipline and hard work were instilled in her, and she rolled with it. In primary school, she excelled, and was often the top student. She was always eager to answer questions to show what she knew, and it got to the point that the teachers would ask her to let other students answer. Subira, of course, did so, because she wanted everyone to have a fair chance.
At Hogwarts, Subira was sorted into Hufflepuff at no surprise to her family. She did just as well at Hogwarts as she had in primary school, but she enjoyed potions most, and in her sixth and seventh years was a tutor for the younger students. She was made prefect, but she gave it up because she wanted to make sure she had time for herself on top of her education.
Subira played just as hard as she worked. She played as a chaser on the house team, and if she wasn't on the pitch or in the hospital wing helping and learning from the school healers, she was either in the potions room tutoring younger students or in the common room playing wizard's chess or gobstones with them.
After graduation, she had her sights set on Healers without Borders, but she wanted real experience before jumping into it and so she got an internship at St. Mungo's and at the end of her internship, she felt ready to pursue her dream career. She joined Healers without Borders without issue and traveled around the world to areas of need, treating all sorts of maladies, injuries, and diseases.
She has friends within the program that she spends time with, and there are some areas that she'll rotate back to where she has friends as well. Her job keeps her quite busy, but she always finds time to relax and let off stress with friends. She loves to take in the local scenery if that's an option, but she'll happily settle for beers and billiards if that's all they've got time for.
She loves her job, but she rarely stays in one place long and doesn't often have time to just hang out with her family, which is why she's decided to set down some roots at home and see about getting a job at St. Mungo's, but she'll still help with Healers without Borders, just not year-round.
