About Me

Tegen Fitzgerald is the second born daughter of business tycoons Alistair Fitzgerald and Ana Lascano. A rare case of inheriting mostly her father's genes, many gossip that makes her exactly like him in turns of emotional manipulation. Although giving up her rights of inheritance to her younger sister, it doesn't stop Tegen from subtly reminding her and attempting to fuel her father's ego so he creates a new company for her.

Tegen Fitzgerald 2
Personality

At a first glance, anyone would be justified in saying that Tegen is a mini clone of her father. She possesses some of his defining personality traits; intelligent, savvy, cunning and controlling. Those same four traits is what's given Tegen her reputation of being a 'Queen Bee' character. She doesn't mind the title so much; it distinguishes her from the other students and, in turn, enables her to be seen as a socially dominant character within Hogwarts' social hierarchy on top of the status of her father. Ironically enough, for someone who holds such a large social role, Tegen remains humble with her parents' achievements. Sure she's mentioned it a few times here and there, more so in First Year, but it's not something she actively mentions. This is largely down to her view o wanting to be great for her own achievements that, at most, have been merely boosted by her parents' own accolades.

One of the first things people notice about Tegen is her undeniable charisma - many wonder how someone as abrasive as her can still have friends and the answer lies in how she draws people in with her charm. Ever the person who, initially, is quite easy to talk to, it is no wonder how charming she can be. More interactions with her will reveal her intelligence. Like everyone there's parts that're patchy but, for the most part, she is exactly how one would imagine a daughter of a business savvy couple to be. Unlike her parents, however, she hasn't poured her intelligence into the business side of things (though a very brief knowledge is there thanks to the couple of months as her father's heir), but rather into the magical side of her life and that shows with her proficiency at most spells - the exception being healing. Additionally, she has some admirable qualities about her such as her ambition and perseverance. Many people have joked that, should she ever marry into the royal family, she should be kept apart from Princess Theodora out of fear that the two would be able to plan and execute the perfect take over of the monarchy, her ambition is that big. Though flattered, Tegen knows that her ambition lies with more attainable goals such as heading a successful business of her own. Likewise, her perseverance to continue trying whenever she fails is perhaps the most admirable thing about her and redeems her enough to some to stand her.

Something a large portion of people don't see, not even her own family, is what some would describe as the true Tegen. Whilst her abrasiveness and cunning nature is wholeheartedly a part of her personality, not many get to see the inklings of the inner turbulence she faces. To those she's the closest to, Tegen presents herself as she'd rather be seen by anyone; a loyal friend. If a close friend was upset, Tegen would stop at nothing to make them feel better. It's happened a few times, but most see it as the Queen Bee bossing people out of her way to get what she wants. She's a fairly funny person to, though it usually comes in the form of sarcasm. In a twist of perceptions, she rather enjoys being the butt of her close friends' jokes because it makes her feel normal; for however much she loves her role of power and still needs it, she equally loves having moments of normality. The sensitive side of her, the part that has the rawest emotion and shows, really, that all she is is a lonely girl, is seen by even less. The person who's seen a lot of it is her father but it's mostly in vain; she doesn't pester him beyond his half-assed sympathetic words.

For as many positive traits Tegen has, she has just as many (if not double) negative ones. The most noticeable one is how abrasive she is. Whilst she's willing to talk to people and gets along with most, it's her way of screening them in her head and subjecting them to her harsh mental judgement. From there, should they not be deemed worthy, she'll be incredibly rude and critical of them at any moment she gets. For some, like genuine assholes, it's a good thing but sadly a lot of people who're ordinary become victim to this. Tegen's commonly referred to as her father's clone, mostly in how power hungry and cunning she is. Should you say she's as conservative as him, she'd bite your head off with an onslaught of harsh words and the threat of a nasty spell or two. Although she'd rather not admit it, Tegen is emotionally manipulative to a lot of people. What started out as trying to play to her father's emotions has turned into a vital part of her personality; it'd be an abnormal day for Tegen to not emotionally hurt someone. From little things as begging her father to put her mother's surname as a middle name to breaking up people at school because she's picked up on one negative thing and she's decided they'd be better off without one another, Tegen hits all the spectrum. Though good observance is perceived as positive trait, for Tegen, it's negative. It's her observance paired with an overworking mind that has led to all of her problems. It was her who observed that she stood apart from her siblings and instead of asking her mother why and getting a simple answer of that's just how their family is, Tegen's mind decided that she was inherently different and that was that. Likewise, she observed at just aged two from other families and her own elder sibling that a birth of a younger sibling would divert attention from her - something she decided she didn't like and that was that.

Something people don't see about Tegen is the emotional heartbreak she's going through internally and how close she is to a breakdown. Though she knows that every single one of these feelings and emotions have been caused by herself from decisions she made in infancy, she can't help but wonder what life would be like had she not decided to follow through with some toddler promises. Whilst she's positive that associating herself with her father within the Fitzgerald Lascano family will benefit her in the future (or, at the very least, she's extremely hopeful), she largely feels regret, mostly towards her mother and most immediate sibling. For the former, she feels bad that she had decided to go off her so quickly and a subsequent lack of bond and connection between the two had been severed and, for the latter, she feels as if she's almost failed her sister and instead of doing what an older sister should - what her elder sibling did for her when she was young - she instead decided to be as vindictive and brutal as possible. Of course, habits die hard and Tegen shows no signs of stopping her negative ways, but she's optimistic that she'll be able to mend things before having the breakdown of a century.

History

To some, Tegen Alexandria Nazarena Fitzgerald Lascano's birth was a blessing, a spectacle to behold. To others? A disappointment, one that was completely and utterly regrettable. Unfortunately for Tegen, her parents were wholly divided on the spectrum; her mother was excited at the birth of a daughter whilst her father would've much preferred a male spare to the companies. Really though, it was to be expected of a marriage that was nothing more than an extravagant business transaction embellished in vows and rings. Some were surprised that Alistair Fitzgerald and Carmen Lascano were able to have kids, mostly since it tightened the grip of the transaction further, but others argue it was to be expected of such an ambitious marriage.

Even if Alistair wanted to, there was no denying that Tegen was and truly his daughter - in fact, had she not have given birth to the girl, it could be Carmen who could question her daughter's heritage. You see, Tegen fell into a special, rare, category where she inherited most of her genes from her father and barely any from her mother. If she were a muggle, she'd succumb to the effects of an illness but her pure-blood status saved her from any medical complications. Of course she inherited enough genes from her mother to not make her a clone of her father (though some would disagree) but there was no denying that Tegen became the odd one amongst the legitimate kids, each always being of deeper skin tones than her and looking a bit more cohesive with one another - something that would effect Tegen in her childhood and early adolescence.

If you told people that once upon a time that Tegen was a happy, bubbly girl who just wanted love, they'd probably laugh, but it's true. Until the birth of her immediate sister, Tegen was raised exclusively like a mother's girl. Not that her father wanted anything to do with her so the option was never there, Tegen gravitated towards her mother in every and any social situation she was placed in. It'd often get to the point where she'd have to be separated from her by force because the young girl was so reluctant to not be with her. It was also the prime of Tegen's obsession with anything girly and anything to do with her mother's roots; Tegen loved everything about what she was surrounded with. The pink clothes, the dolls, the music played by her mother which she could only describe now as the pinnacle of sophistication - Tegen loved every bit of it.

The first inklings of how quick Tegen caught onto things came at the discovery by the young girl that her mother was pregnant. Of course, being only two, she didn't know what the growing bump around her mother's midsection meant but she didn't like what she was told. For a girl who loved being the centre of attention, the sound of another baby coming into her life didn't bode well; she had some instances at nursery where she wasn't the only thing people were looking at and she hated it. She vowed in her little toddler brain to detest whatever her parents came home with on the day that they left her at her grandparent's house. The detest extended onto her mother; slowly Tegen began to detach herself. No longer would she cry if they were separated, nor would she insist on doing everything her mother did. It was almost as if she had a complete change of her personality and could only tolerate being near her mother. Many, including her parents, put it down to being in the 'terrible twos' but nobody expected the personality to stick.

Tegen knew from the moment she saw her little sister that they wouldn't get along. Ever. Being two, she was easily persuaded to be nice to her when she was forced to be in the infant's presence but it never took away from her questions to her mother asking when the baby would go and if they were just looking after her for someone else. It was clear that her younger sister had succeeded the role of mummy's girl and that was the first inkling of visual separation for Tegen. At just four, colouring in pictures of her family, she noticed how her mother and siblings were tanned and needed a different pencil to her and her father's pink. Going home from then on, she noticed how much different she looked from her siblings and how she never got the same affection from her father as they did from her mother. Of course, she still rejected any attempts from her mother and accepted the bare minimum but she realised that the bare minimum was all her father was willing to give. Being young, she was satisfied with being told he had to work and that later they'd read together or something and wholly believed it - which is possibly why, with each new sibling born, she felt more and more isolated. It was up to chance, really, that her younger sister was the one Tegen despised but, ultimately, it was down to whoever was next as she felt like they had caused the chain effect to happen within her.

Like most kids, Tegen wasn't always in the complete know of things - much to her disappointment. By the time she was seven the most rumours she had heard were just about women using her father's name for their own gain. It was during one of these stories that Tegen's first magical experience happened. Whilst it was obvious her father hadn't been the most hands on in her upbringing (or any of his kids, for that matter), she still felt possessive over him and hearing one particularly bad, baseless rumour had caused Tegen to send sparks in the direction of a few indoor plants. It was lucky for the family that they could extinguish the flames rather quickly, but it didn't stop her from being reprimanded severely by her father. She forgave him though, wanting him to see her in the best light. He was, for a lack of better words, her role model. If someone asked her what she wanted to be, she'd reply that she wanted to be just like her dad. If anyone tried to claim they had the best dad in the world, Tegen would fight against that statement for all it was worth.

Although Tegen wouldn't recognise that the way she would end up feeling for most of her childhood was the result of following through on a bratty, toddler decision, it had an undeniable effect on her. Over time her mother began to gave up trying with her, albeit only slightly, but it was enough for Tegen to feel it. She missed the way her mother checked up on her, missing it when it was gone. She began to recognise that the choice of chasing after her father for affection, more than he could give, was a regretted one and the visible differences between them and her siblings, something that shouldn't matter, became consuming. Tegen began to feel lost, alone and undesired. She searched desperately for approval and, thanks to choices she had made, neither could give her enough that would feel gratifying and wholesome. It was then, roughly aged 11, that Tegen decided in light of some more rumours about her father that she would do the same. She would do all in her power to, essentially, play him at his own game. It was then that the Tegen Fitzgerald that people know today was born. She adopted an unalterable pride, a knack for being emotionally manipulative and, in general, cunning. She never knew if it was a change in her that her father approved of, but it was one she knew her mother lamented and, for that matter, her siblings - especially Raina.

Nothing changed when she was accepted and, eventually, attended Hogwarts either. In fact, it probably made it worse. She was sorted into her respective house and immediately established her dominance and power over the others. Of course this was varying but incredibly vindictive of an eleven year old girl. To Tegen, however, she felt it was necessary and something she had to do; she felt invisible at home (at least invisible enough to put herself down) and she was going to make sure that wasn't the case at school. For the most part, she was successful and was able to feel like the Queen Bee for some time. She faltered a little bit when she was fourteen, however. Her elder brother renounced his inheritance to the family companies and, subsequently, she was landed with it. It was a shock to everybody and it pushed Tegen outside of her comfort zone enough for her to take on the role and let her father give her tips for a couple of months before she decided to play him at his own game.

Knowing how disgruntled he was at putting inheritance on her and seeing an opportunity to latch onto her sister's life even more, Tegen renounced her claim and the inheritance fell on her younger sister. It came with its rewards; she got to watch as her father lamented further and had to engage in deep enough conversations with one of her siblings that he didn't seem fussed on, as well as being able to have some sort of extra hold on her sister. Phrases like "without me, who knows what your future would like" and "remember what I did for you" became common in her repertoire. She grew to regret the decision but, in her defence, that isn't how she wanted to get successful nor was it how she wanted to have a deeper connection with her father, so she threw it all away. Now, she subtly suggests new fields for him to expand the Fitzgerald Empire in, mostly so she can inherit something.
