The Leaky Cauldron

The Leaky Cauldron, currently run by Jennifer Thompson, is an old-established, and highly popular, watering hole, disguised to Muggle eyes as a broken-down shop front on Charing Cross Road. It also provides the pedestrian access to Diagon Alley in its back yard.

Built in 1500 by Daisy Dodderidge, the first landlady and proprietress, it has flourished under liberal and fascist regimes alike, always managing to keep its doors open, and the passing trade passing through.

Great figures on both ends of the spectrum, from Voldemort to the Weasleys, and from Harry and Hagrid to Dumbledore and Dobby, have rubbed shoulders here with the throngs preparing to brave Diagon Alley, and the glares of Gringotts' goblins.

Former landlords and landladies include the Protean Tom, who ran the place for most of the 20th century, and Hannah Abbott, wife of Neville Longbottom.

Many people looking to discover up-to-the-minute gossip, if not news, find the Cauldron a better, warmer source than the Daily Prophet, although some Prophet stories have certainly been hatched within these walls. Muggle-Borns, and particularly Muggle parents, often get their first taste of the Wizarding world, literally as likely as not, here, and so it holds a special place in many students' hearts, no matter how long since they graduated.

When Elodie walked into the Leaky Cauldron, did she know that what she was about to do was probably shady? It may be breaking the law? Yes. Did she care? Not really. Eh, someone in the newspaper was offering money for some advanced charm work. And, hey, Elodie is quite decent in Charms. So, why not make a little cash? She still hadn't found a job yet, so she could take all the the money she could get. Who cares if what she was about to do may be a little shady? Well, Aurors may care a bit, but it's fine. She needs the money. She's wearing a pair of sunglasses when walking into the place, not sure if she needs to look somewhat undercover. Most likely not - and the sunglasses don't do much of anyway except be stylish - but Elodie still likes to prepare. She lowers them just a smidge to scan the room, looking for anything that caught her eye. It doesn't take long before she spots Lex... Spots the stack of papers, actually, but notices Lex right after that. No one else seems to stand out. So, Elodie heads over to the table in the back. "Were you the one who put the ad in the newspaper?" she makes sure to ask vaguely, just in case this wasn't the person she was looking for.

"Good," she only answers back, running a hand through her hair at the same time. She nods towards the case while adding, "I presume you'd like me to do something with that? Unless you just like to do your work here." She moves her attention toward the rest of the bar at the latter sentence, mostly noticing just a bunch of people being loud and drunk.

She did what Lex sat, crossing one leg over another when sitting down. "Of course I do," she says because who hadn't learned about it at least briefly? "I think I know somewhat of the charm you're talking about. Can I order a drink first?" A little informal? Yes... but was this meeting really mean't to be formal?

"Of course, of course," she answers back with a smirk. Taking one more sip of her drink, she stands up and pulls her wand from an inside pocket of her coat. What? You can never be too cautious of thieves. Aiming her wand toward the file, she takes a moment to think of the incantation that she had learned before. Spelling it aloud quietly enough so it wouldn't bring much attention, she makes sure to change it up a bit to make it gashes instead of boils like Lex wanted. Elodie has always had a talent with changing up hexes of spells, really, so it wasn't too big of a deal.
