The Seeker's Stop
TheSeekersSpot

The Seeker's Stop is a Quidditch themed bar and dining spot, owned and operated by ex-Harpies beater Cerys Glendower, with help from her family, the legendary Schmidts. The bar is open to everyone, and alcohol is served to anyone of age, with an array of beer to choose from. There's also club soda, water, and a fountain for those non-alcoholic drinks. Cerys also serves food here: mainly wings, burgers, and chips. Quidditch matches are always displayed up on the screens, and events are usually held for the Quidditch seasons, with discounts and specials. Decorating the walls are old jerseys for many members of quidditch teams, and some retired jerseys. (Cerys hung her own up there, as well as Arthur Schmidt's, Blake Schmidt's, and her wife's - Lena Schmidt.) Every team on the National Quidditch League has their logo set up somewhere on the wall, and the logo for the Quidditch World Cup is held in between everything.

She was supposed to be meeting Julian here to watch the league's season opener, which just so happened to involve her sister's team, the Lincliff Lions. While her sister had offered tickets to the game for both her and Luka, Eden hadn't been able to commit on time on grounds of not knowing whether she'd be able to leave the office on time or not that day. Florence ended up giving the tickets to mates of hers, which ended up being the right call, given the game had started fifteen minutes ago and it was already in full swing. She had narrowly managed to find two stools, and fortunately for her, it was one of the best seats in the house.

It was after work and Eleni had headed straight to the pub. It was the season opener and, being an avid follower of all things sport, Eleni couldn't miss it. Eleni was a familiar face and no one was too taken aback to find a head of department to be in there, but it was surprising to find two. Eleni didn't really notice Eden sliding into a stool near her, with only one other person in between them, her eyes were fixed on the screen. Florence Lestrange was a good player but she still hadn't convinced Eleni that she was a good coach. Not yet, anyway. But it was early into the game still. It wasn't until the person moved away that Eden caught Eleni's attention, and she glanced over, briefly, before looking back to the screen. Her excitement had dropped considerably in a few seconds and she could punch someone. Taking a sip of firewhisky, in a glass that was far too big, whose froth was bubbling over, she said, "congratulations on the position. I'm sure you're over the moon." Eleni was keeping her distance for obvious reasons but with them so shoved together, she supposed it'd be plain rude if she didn't say anything.

Eden hadn't even realized Eleni was there, so you can rest assured, the Oh, fuck that dropped from her mouth was exclusively related to the shock that came with seeing Eleni sat so close to her. She was expecting a lot of things out of tonight - Florence kicking ass, Julian starting a fight, her having to subdue Julian - but seeing Eleni here wasn't one of them. She remembers Eleni being an avid follower of all things sports, but she pegged her more as the type to be in VIP boxes inside the stadium - not sports bars. "Thank you," Eden hesitates for a moment, but offers a tentative smile and awkward nod nonetheless. "I am."

Eleni felt VIP boxes removed the experience of sport. The community of it all. So she'd much rather be in here. Watching Eden, Eleni stopped herself from visibly reacting through taking another sip. If it was going to be awkward, then that would be on Eden, not Eleni. What could she do? Grovel? Probably make it worse. In all honesty, probably better to run into Eleni now, because they were about to see each other every other day now. But she held her tongue. "Do you know's Florence was feeling about the game?" She asked, nodding to the TV, " I might have placed a certain bet on the lions, so I'm praying they win. They should, people are favoring them."

Eden spares a fleeting glance to the television over the bar and smiles to herself at the coincidence of seeing Florence and her support team. When she looks at Eleni again, she shrugs. "Florence is very confident in herself and her team. I've met them, and can tell you I don't think that confidence is misplaced. They're all talented and know what they're doing."

"Not surprised, I've not known Florence to be anything but confident," Eleni said. Which might sound rather...iffy. Eleni wasn't meaning to say Florence was arrogant or anything akin to that, but even in Ilvermorny, anyone could tell how self assured Florence was in her own abilities. "I'll take your word for it. Just pay me back if I lose the bet," she tacked on with a quick grin, clearly joking.

As skeptical as she still is about Eleni's genuineness, Eden doesn't seem put off by her poor word choice. If anything, she seems to agree, laughing and nodding. "She has, yes. It's part of her charm," Eden pauses for a moment and grins. "I'll pay you back, sure, but I'm sure I have more at stake; I may or may not have bet the Lions would take the championship this year," she admits, pulling an expression somewhere between a grimace and a laugh. "Hopefully it all works out! Otherwise I might be out a hundred galleons."

"So early in the season? Oh, that's risky," she said, making an empathetic face, "I think I might count my losses then. I only put down fifty on one game. But hey, people are saying good things about this season for them so you might be in luck."

"Not too risky if you've got an in with the team," Eden lifts her recently delivered beer towards Eleni, eyebrows raised and a smirk playing at her lips. "Of course it's all dependent on them not messing up, but I have high hopes. The state most of the other teams are in is... questionable, at best." True, most of it has to do with the players having left for other leagues at the height of the political turmoil a while ago, but a sports bar is the worst place to go into that, so it's left unsaid.

"Hey, don't underestimate the underdogs. They just need to have a good day and the opponent is a goner, no matter how well they played," Eleni pointed out with a shrug. "Although, I must confess, I still prefer quadpot. A friend of mine has spent years trying to get me into quidditch but I'm stubborn as a mule. At least I understand the rules now."

Now that her and Azura had broken up a few months ago, she couldn't find much of a reason to leave her property in Scotland. It was expansive and had everything she needed except for maybe a few things, but snapping into the grocery store and then snapping back home wasn't really a day trip. Except today she was really ready to get out on the town again - although with a bit anxiety, so she stopped by her favorite bar - the Seeker's Stop. She missed playing for the Ballycastle Bats, but knew deep down it was best that she retire early and focus on other ventures. She sighed thinking about it, looking up at the jerseys hanging around the bar, before a bartender approached her and she ordered a drink.

Julian was never a sports person. He was more likely the person selling magical version of steroids to quidditch players during Hogwarts than to actually get onto a broom himself. So it was astounding that Julian was found in a sports bar, watching a quidditch game. It was an hour or two before he went and picked up his children so he was blowing it off. He was only a stool's distance away from Millie and he had barely registered her presence. Even though they were at Hogwarts at the same time. However, they would have been two years apart. Or maybe a year? Julian didn't remember. He knew her face, but it hadn't clicked.

Millie sipped at her butterbeer. Alcohol was a luxury (and curse) that she rarely got the opportunity to enjoy. Her small size made for her to be quite the lightweight, hence why she was trying to take small, slow sips. In the end, it probably wouldn't prove to be too effective. The quidditch game had started to drag on and from the perspective of a quidditch player, she was internally cursing the two seekers. Bored, she turned and realized the person sitting next to her was someone from school. Because she had started to get out less, it had been a while since she had ran into someone she recognized, but she didn't really recognize him. She didn't know his name or remember what house he was in. Just vaguely knew the face. Maybe. She could be wrong. "What brings you here?" She asked with a little smile. Her voice was a bit soft, gentle really. She had never been an assertive person.

Julian almost didn’t hear the voice, so soft, but he was always listening, enough that he turned his head at the welcomed distraction of the nasal voice of the commentator. Running his eyes over her face, it took him a moment to smile. Maybe because he couldn’t place where he knew her face. And with his history, that was a dangerous thing. “Oh, obviously the sport,” he said with a smile, shifting so he was facing her better, “haven’t seen a better game since “97.” He wasn’t even born then but even then-that was when the second wizarding war occurred so he doubted there were many quidditch games happening in the country.
