Hey guys,
It makes me sad to have to write this blog....but I think the time for it has come. Now, before I stir up a panic, I want to ensure everyone that I'm not just leaving, and that this is a pre-emptive warning, and not something happening right now. That being said I'll expain fully if you'll just bear with me for a little bit.
While I love it here, and feel like I'm useful and helpful, recent events in my life have shown me where this place falls in my priorities...which is below RL (as I think it should be), and that with my real life getting crazy right now (and possibly more so in the near future) I just don't have the time to be a good Bcrat anymore. I hate being gone for as much as I have been the last few weeks, and since I can't say for certain that won't happen again, I feel the need to step down and let those who are more active step up and take the responsibility.
As some of you guys know, my wife's grandmother is having some major medical issues, and it could last for a while. I won't go into all the details (since you would probably think I'm lying with so much happening at once), but suffice it to say life will be difficult for her in the future, and a funeral may be in the future. Also on the same issue, my grandfather is in a similar boat medically (though with different issues) and that may also end in a funeral in the near future.
So...life has been crazy with all that going on the past couple weeks. On top of all that, my wife and I have been trying for the past 3 years to get pregnant. while it still hasn't happened (and the doctors tell us everything's fine) we're finally on some medication to help, which means hopefully sometime in the next year I may be a father. While I'll let you guys know when that happens for sure (so no congradulations needed yet) that'sll definately be a life change that will take my time and attention away from here.
Finally, I'm still working on getting my Master's Degree and now working on my Master's Thesis this semester, I just don't see myself having the time to give this wikia. While I love it here (and still plan to be around somewhat) I don't think I'll have the time to be a crat and do all that's needed from that.
So...this is my plan. I plan to stay where I am for this next Hogwarts school year (3 months IRL), and during that time start to delegate my responsibilities and talk to the rest of the admin team and see how they want to proceed. I don't plan on leaving permentally, so if they'll allow I may keep Kinsel as Hogwarts Headmaster, but not have him teaching in the future. However, if they would prefer a more active Headmaster, I'm fine with that too. We'll work on getting people who deserve them promotions and people used to doing certain things, so hopefully when I step down nothing I do will be missed.
Like I said, I do what to say I'll still be around, and stepping down to being a RB or regular user, but will still be on to RP and be around to help with stuff as my time allows. This isn't immediate as I want to get some things settled and not just disappear so things don't just fall apart. ...but I did want to post this blog so the admin team has some foreknowledge of my intentions and so that we can make this a seemless transition.
One more time, just in case people have missed it:I'm not leaving...just stepping down as I don't feel I have the time to do as good a job as I would like as a Bcrat anymore. If that changes once I've finished my Master's Degree and such and I have time again, I'll work my way back up to RB, Admin etc. Hopefully everyone understands that this isn't due to the wiki or anyone on it...just the lack of time in my own life.
